    So, Bedman is a bit complicated character to explain, but I'll try to do it as sensibly and briefly as I can.
    The original Bedman was an extremely powerful psychic that had to be kept in a coma, or else he would be overwhelmed by the power and die. Despite this, he acted as an assassin by being strapped into a robotic bedframe that he could control and use his powers through even when asleep. He acted as an assassin to find a way to cure his sister who suffered from the same condition of power overload killing her if she ever woke up. He thought he had found a way, but his client betrayed him and he was forced to wake up to defend himself in battle. Awake and able to use his full power but actively dying, he was able to in his last moments limit his sisters powers so that she could wake up safely. This sister, Delilah, is who we have here, along with the battered but still functional bedframe.
    But this isn't the end. Bedman, being as powerful as he is, was able to escape the circle of rebirth and trap himself in limbo. He did this so that he would be able to keep protecting his sister even after death, by giving commands to the bedframe he is still connected to. The song is about this, how he has abandoned the possibility of a warm afterlife or a gentle rebirth in favour of a continued existence in endless nothingness, just to keep protecting his sister.

      It's also good to mention that it seems that Bedman now either only remembers Delilah or only can feel emotions towards Delilah, which parallels to everyone who were resurrected in GG series

      Little opinion, i dont think Bed is actively getting commands since its following last command of protect and make Delilah happy. Due to this command in game story its going around to find someone who can kill it since it believe itself to be causing Delilah misery (Baiken understood and refuse to fight it knowing killing Bed would only end up hurting Delilah, so she let both Bed and Delilah travel and find answer they both can agree).
      In final fight where actually nearly dies, it decide to live when Delilah ask for it not to leave her.

      @@Fearoq We still can't discard the "Romeo's spirit" theory yet because of Faust's afro. When Bed gets an afro its color is the same as Romeo's hair.
      One more fun fact, Romeo and Delilah were the names of some of Freddie Mercury's cats.

    "The perspective of somebody in pain" part is right on the money. It's probably the dying thoughts of Bedman, a villain from an earlier game. However, there may be a bit of his soul left in his robot bed which now protects his sister. There's a certain degree of undeath going on. Those cutscenes are from the (long) in-game movies.

    • @maxmanchik
      @maxmanchik Рік тому +32

      Bedman isn't necessarily a villain. His whole point was that once he obtains the necessary power, he would be able to return the souls of all who he killed. He even stated that he remembers name of all who he has killed

      @@maxmanchikthe funny thing is, most villains in guilty gear can be justified in similar ways, happy chaos just wanted continual progress, I-No simply wanted a future, Asuka could be argued was evil, but there’s a lot of actual justification in their actions

    I really love the last lines just being "I'm here I'm here". To me it sounds like Bedman is both boldly stating that he still exists after death while also trying to reassure his sister that he's still there for her. I've also got a few song suggestions, something similarly experimental would have to be Drift but if you want to shake it up a bit after 2 in a row I'd suggest Rock parade.

    Yep, my fav part of Daisuke's music is he is never afraid to just go for it. Meshing different styles, different instruments, changing tempos multiple times within the same song,

    To answer your question about perspective this song is sung through the perspective of Romeo aka Bedman who is the deceased brother of Delilah the girl in the video. Romeo's soul is currently possessing the bedframe to protect her

    Quick Lore Summary : Bedman died in the previous game, his soul possibly resides in the robot in the picture. The girl is Bedman's sister and the song is about him protecting his sister in his haunted form. The "circle" sounds like limbo, which is driving him insane, since there no beginnings or end, black and white are the same concept, or unable to see/hear/feel anymore.

    • @FalseHerald
      @FalseHerald Рік тому +12

      Given how Daisuke likes to reference Buddhism on occasion, the circle might be Samsara, the cycle of life, death, and reincarnation. He refused to move on in order to protect his sister, and so he is "outside the circle."

    Ay yaya ya, ay yaya ya
    Daisuke Ishiwatari is the creator of basically everything Guilty Gear and that includes the music. He's incredible with the creativity and wide range of styles he uses and it all works so perfectly. The mixing of genres in his music makes all of the soundtracks great standalone albums. As others have said, he also worked on Blazblue which also has some fantastic music.
    Continuing to recommend Kiss of Death until you inevitably get around to it.

    After first hearing this song (now, I might have been a little bias her knowing the character lore beforehand) But I got this Funeral vibe to the slower parts of the song as it's very mournful sounding. ..
    And then I latched on to specifically to the "God, do you see the radiant light, etc..." sections of the song cuz I thought it sounded familiar. And the reason I found out was that there's a song By "Seena Ringo" (who coincidentally is who "I-no" (from the first song you checked out) is designed after) has a song which is also coincidentally called "Funeral". And I am at this point utterly convinced that The Circle is referencing this song in a lot of ways.

    About the cutscenes, they're from the game's second story mode, which is basically a 40 minute anime episode. The first story mode? A 4 hour long anime movie.
    Their quality pales in comparison with the music and the game itself, but they are quite entertaining and a major vessel for the lore.

    Guilty Gear's universe is weird. Basically, they discovered "heaven" or "hell" or however you look at it, a different realm of realty that exists alongside but separate of ours. Think every thought, feeling, emotion, all if it compressed into information or data that could be read or manipulated. Bedman's whole deal was he wanted to remake the world using that power to make a better world, but went about it in the worst way possible since in his mind pain, death, and misery was just information you could overwrite and cancel out. All of his murders and cruelty would be justified if anyone was just reset to factory settings. Deals with idea that if say you died today and someone made an exact copy of you with your mind/memories would you still be the same person and would others still have an emotional connection you, the ship of Theseus argument. Anyways, by the end of the game he dies after learning everything he did and believed in was all an empty and impossible dream he in his last moments he uses his power to control realty to a degree to do something to protect his sister. Cue the current game where his old weapon is walking around without him and acting beyond it's programming.
    Personal interpretation? I think the song is entirely from the dead Bedman's perspective. I think he "copied" himself as a sort of digital ghost into the programming of the bed itself, literally becoming the ghost in the machine and dooming this copy to a sort of eternal purgatory "the circle" where he is neither alive or dead but simply continuing his existence to safeguard his only remaining family. However, the copy while having his mind and memories is still a ship of Theseus, given life to a cruel existence without salvation and lacking the originals powers to fix it's situation. Forced into questioning it's fate and the enormity of what it's progenitor in it's desperation did to it.

    • @Jacket0120
      @Jacket0120 Рік тому +5

      Just a quick correction, Bedman never thought you could just "replace" something with an exact copy. It's actually a huge plot point that he teaches this exact lesson to Ramlethal Valentine BY KILLING HER DOG and then presenting her with an exact replica and asking her if they are the same (she says no and it's her first big show of emotion crying for her dead dog). But other than that you're correct.

    • @chrisbaldwin8570
      @chrisbaldwin8570 Рік тому +4

      @@Jacket0120 I know, which is why I mentioned the Ship of Theseus argument. Bedman believed that was it was emotions that made a person "unique" or an individual more than just a collection of data and used the murder and replacement of the dog to facilitate the ship of Theseus argument for Ramlethal in way she would understand. He was going to alter the data of the of the masses and restore them to their emotional/data selves prior to the their murder, essentially erase the deed at the end. This is why it's so cruel in the Circle that the possible copy in the bed mentions that it can't create smiles but won't bring Delilah to tears. It's lost a crucial emotional connection.

    Some of the lyrics in the video are incorrect:
    "Once my end came, there came a zero"
    "CONSUMING ten billion years in an instant"
    "Never LET you cry"
    Great to see someone reacting to this masterpiece, and thanks for not pausing constantly during the first reaction like so many people.
    That verse of Bedman asking what heaven is like and realizing he can't go there if he can protect his sister is a tragic masterpiece.

    There are so many amazing songs on this soundtrack it's hard to pick ones to recommend, I can't limit myself to one but I will limit myself to three. Four. Bear with me.
    "Mirror of the World", "Armor-Clad Faith", and "Drift" are all character themes like the ones you've listened to so far. But the game also does have a main theme, the anime intro if you will, called "Smell of the Game".

I feel like if I wanted someone to really get a feel for some of the (in my opinion) best songs in Guilty Gear Strive, my top three would be Vanish Into Dark, Armorclad Faith, and Love the Subhuman Self, and although these are some of the best, there isn't a definitive list someone could make, because all the songs are amazing.

    Trying to go into the lyrics can be stuff for some of the songs. Some have themes and lyrics that represent their character but are broadly applicable and generally understandable, some are about the story and character themselves like this one and so are hard to really break down without context

    I can't stress this enough, CloudDrop's videos are not a reliable source for lyrics for the DLC characters. Don't take these lyrics as official because they're mostly just educated guesswork. The only DLC theme with accurate official lyrics is Drift(Happy Chaos' theme).

    If you want more Daisuke but with a bit of a different flavour check out the Blazblue soundtrack. He composed the original music and any song with a 2 in the title are rearrangements by the band Galnerys. It's much more focused on melodies rather than just shredding your face off, but is equally as technical and sounds as great as the Guilty Gear soundtrack. Some recommendations would be Gluttony Fang 1 or 2 (Hazama's theme), MUST DIE (Susano'o's theme), Alexandrite 1 or 2 (Makoto's theme) YOMOTSUHIRASAKA (Izanami's theme) and Lust SIN 1 or 2 (Jin's theme). Take your pick, the entire soundtrack is fantastic.
