Max reacts to the latest character reveal out of Guilty Gear Strive, this time of the return...of Bedman? Or Bedman's sister? Or Bedman's bed? I don't know, but they're back, and they're still weird.

"You can't have Bedman in Strive, he's dead."
I got my most wanted.
And the finger in the monkey's paw curls
@@brunop.8745 Aw, monkey's paw reminds me of my other "finally got them in" character, High Five from Clayfighter.
Being dead doesn’t mean that much when we’re talking about playable characters tbh (thank god)
Kliff next
you got half of it, you got BED
I like how he definitely got the Faust treatment by appearing way more terrifying than he ever was.
Both him and Bedman? are probably going to be tied for the best animations in the entire game, even from the little of what we've already seen of the latter character.
Funny cause they both look like that cause of dieing
@@xruffel i mean I love Faust’s animations but I also love eddies new look. It’s just so fuking clean in strife man. Best glow up ever
He?
@@Hondunu Bedman’s spirit in the bed, yes. Delilah doesn’t look terrifying at all lol.
I love her animations, the way she is terrified of the bed going berserk and isn't even fighting.
She? Wasn't it Bedman?
@@chaoticstarfish3401 they're referring to the Delilah, the girl being protected by the bed.
@@chaoticstarfish3401 The girl is Bedman's sister.
@@chaoticstarfish3401 Well, spoilers i guess:
Bedman dies during events story, letting delilah to take physical form in the process, although that wasn't intended. Being powerful backyard users, they essentially live even in death, with how bedman now controls the bed from the other side revealed in the dlc story.
@@10001vader Ooooh, I get it.
" I can't stop him so move, do you mind leaving me alone?" Idk why I love that line.
"Don't break it!"
@Esteban Acosta Olivera I always thought she said "DON'T WAKE IT"
Personally, I love the line from the song at 1:02 "AYAYAYA, AYAYAYA". Perfectly timed >:P
the Bed was always weirdly biomechanical, but only the orb head
in Xrd, Bedman had that overdrive where it opened its huge gross mouth and created an alarm clock
so i find it interesting that its new damaged design basically confirms "yeah, this thing has flesh, we will not elaborate" (i assume they won't, at least, i just know this design looks DOPE)
I really hope the alarm clock mouth gets used again when he gets hit by Faust's wheelchair
Love me some biomechanics. The combination of flesh and metal is just so good. Evangelion does it interestingly as well.
@@Nico-zt5jl I mean, if you look at the Gear designs from the first game’s lore books and articles, those guys are pretty similar to Angels. Also, Strive’s story mode straight up had an EoE Human Instrumentality-type scene… so it all comes back around to NGE.
One of the most tragic backstories in all of Guilty Gear belongs to a bed, btw
The fact that whatever is left of him inside the machine after his death is looking after his little sister makes me kinda emotional, ngl.
I love how some of the moves and animations have the bed protecting Delilah from the opponent
The question is, why bring his sister into combat in the first place? Also, it makes the rest of the cast look like bullies who are trying to beat up Bedman's sister.
@Leo S It's less of Bedman? dragging Delilah into fights and more of Bedman? is going haywire and Delilah is going out of her way to keep Bedman? in check.
@@leos8813 Essentially it's vise versa protection because she has to be there to keep a malfunctioning machine out of trouble. She's also likely Bedmans? Tether to reality and staying docile, is my guess. Don't think anyone is legitimately trying to beat up an innocent Delilah either, but might assume, at least at first, that she's behind it since she's the only one Bedman? Actively protects.
Would be interesting if they developed the concept further into the game play or gimmick. Like if the bed holds onto Delilha then more defensive moves become available but if Bedman? drops her it gets more offense.
Virgin Bedman:
-Sleeps in bed (isn't the bed)
-Talks like a movie critic
-Pawn and betrayed by women
-Not Bedman?
Chad Bedman?:
-Says nothing (rather kick your ass first)
-Actually becomes bed (doesn't elaborate further)
-Protecc's girl
-Reminds Max of sports car
bedman needs to be asleep otherwise he will die
Man, shut up. I didn't want this character back. I'd rather Bedman just stay dead. Especially in this boring, generic, typical, dime a dozen game.
@@Siberianhusky89 stop playing then
@@Inkastar-tz8yd I don't play shit games. And I certainly don't beg and cry if something is "too hard" to learn, then have it change to this asshat game. "Bedman" coming back in Strive is an insult.
@@Siberianhusky89 cry harder, brisket is coming for you.
Everytime Max try to make sense of GG's story it always comes out sounding way stupider than it actually is but at the same time incredibly close to be 100% correct.
To be fair, the Guilty Gear lore works on "metal album cover"-logic, or "it's cool, therefore, it's there".
And I love it.
Not his fault. That's just how everything even tangentially related to anime culture works.
@@H1_R3Z everything in fighting games that isn't a tornument story or about beating a bad guy is imminently scoffed at tbh
I think this character is one of the coolest characters that I have ever seen across all media. the attention to details in the animation, the voice acting... mesmerizing
I 1000% agree
YES! I love when games go all out and make actually weird things. In a medium only limited by our imagination and artistry, this is what I want to see.
Agree 100% he’s unique Af!
Its a bed
@@rainierzx9677 that is also a man?
Took a while to get to this one. Guess Max was... sleeping on it? Maybe he was... bedridden when it launched? Has he been... asleep at the wheel?
Well now he’s covered it it’s just another notch on the bedpost 😅
Isnt it past u guys bedtime? 🤔
These jokes are putting me to sleep
Yeah... Was having a pretty "bed" time before this came up.
These jokes are giving me nightmares.
I love Bedmans bodylanguage while he is protecting her from Happy Chaos. The framing, too, is so good!
Considering Happy Chaos is the one who killed her brother it makes a lot more sense, I’d love it if it was a unique interaction between the two
Ha. Framing. Bed frame.
@@concosre Bed
@@concosre I.... That.... That was not even supposed to be a pun, but thanks for pointing it out and making me grin. xD
People may think Bedman's bed being possessed is weird.
But let me tell y'all about Zappa, who is possessed by the following:
A thunder god.
3 ghosts that induce bad luck.
Several lesser spirits.
Centipedes.
A black, skeletal dog.
A bloodstained sword.
And freaking Yamamura Sadako.
Reaaally wanna know how this works mechanically.
I have this crazy idea that Delilah is the actual healthbar and using specials or taking damage will break the bed down and leave Delilah vulnerable with tissue paper for health.
I think that would be neat, I want protect the child mechanics.
Del is extremely strong, as demonstrated by Another Story.
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude that sounds sick. Make it a mix of Nago's blood rage state and Sin's XRD food mechanic and you got a cool state.
Gives them a really good opportunity to make him busted as well. Great on everything but can get killed in a single dust.
That's zato
no delilah is not the healthbar you can see anjis f.s phasing right through her, she is just background filler
it works like the previous bedman but without the cool stuff, in this case the rewinds.
standard strive stuff.
also the girl is just visual flair, like celica in blazblue. you can see in the trailer a hit goes straight through her with no effect.
a weird thing many people noticed is that SOME movies we see the bed carrying her while some things she isnt being carried
Most likely some kind of stance change to mix up your move set though this is just my best guess
I believe it's visual flare for jumps/being airborne unless I'm just missing ones on the ground
@@alterreb4775 There’s one scene where Bedman is already in the air and falling but Delilah is grounded meaning her movements aren’t an indicator of what Bedman is doing, even though I think that would be a cool way of helping the other person know if Bedman is say, crouching or not
@@itsturniptime3699 and one scene where B E D moves while Delilah isn't/barely on screem
0:16 This is why Bedman's a good pick. IMO we NEED niche picks in the roster; otherwise alot of people just get screwed cause their favorite character didnt reach some popularity quota. Frankly, alot of the characters Max likes are some of the most popular ones (Ken, Baiken, Terry/Rock) so it bothers me when he gets Leo, and Baiken and then he goes "eeehh, we didnt really *NEED* this character back did we? Lets just add Slayer next"
Bedman was one of the most picked characters of GGXRD, wdym niche?
@@alpha-tomahawk532 He wasn’t on any of the top 10 lists for most wanted characters, and Bedman really doesn’t come to mind when you think “people LOVE this character!”, that’s where you get characters like Slayer, Johnny, Jam, etc. I personally am more of a fan of ultra-weirdo characters like Faust, Zappa or Bedman, so I am very glad to see him here
Agreed- I get that he's coming from a populist perspective where he is concerned about maximizing appeal of a game to reach as wide an audience as possible, and from that perspective the biggest name so far in season 2 has been Bridget while plenty of more known picks have been passed up... but god DAMN it I don't even care, Guilty Gear is For! The! Freaks! Get your regular fighting-game body type normies OUTTA HERE! We giant spaghetti-bodied surgeons and Beds who are dubious Men? here! This is Freak City and that should be celebrated!
@@pokeaust7800 Yeah, nobody likes him for his "lore" or "sexyness" like how baiken and bridget got in the top just because they appeal to majority, but that doesn't mean anything about him being one of the most picked in GGXRD because he was strong, did you even read my message?
@@alpha-tomahawk532 wtf are you even saying. He was "good" in Xrd but after rev1 and rev2 he def wasn't strong, and he was a niche character to see. There's also like 2 top lvl players that main him
5:54 "It's a fuckin' Bed, man!"
Whether or not that was intentional, I'm still giving you full credit.
absolutely one of the best designs and animations for a character in any game ever.
I love them, and I love Delilah so much. She's so adorable and funny in some of her lines. Also I love the detail in Delilah's face in 1:43 she goes from COMPLETELY HORRIFIED but (I guess) seeing the world from up above kinda calms her down as her expression softens. It's adorable and I've always love Bedman and Bedman? is even more wonderful so, I'm really glad they added them
I like it how the bed does all the fighting and the girl is following it around for the story/plot. Kinda like Anita from Darkstalkers.
Yeah like Anita
I don’t know why, but just the idea of Akuma taking care of a small child is the funniest thing to me. Like that is so out of character.
Not really, given his SFV story
Maybe after meeting Heihachi, he also wanted to throw a child off a cliff and see if they come back stronger.
@@jadedragon216 It probably would survive, since Akuma's never able to finish the job.
@@remnantofthefirstworld2930 I just went back and watched his story again. I didn’t really see a baby, but I could’ve been missing something. Can you expand on that?
@@SirLightsOut99 Could've sworn there was a part where he interacted with some kids, but maybe my memory is just shit.
Bed's theme is looking like it'll be a BANGER
Guess Max doesn't know about "That Man" was teased at the end of the trailer, and people have been waiting for him to be playable for 25 years!
Wait what?
@@alvercaine8893 That's right, "That Man" is FINALLY becoming playable!
Omg, having Akuma as Lone Wolf and Cub would've been amazing.
4:23
I'm surprised no one sees any Bioshock parallels. Strive Bedman is giant mechanical monster that protects a 'little sister'.
I'm always there for robot/puppet/Stando? characters (though in practice it seems more like a Donovan/Anita situation). Wonder if it'll be able to do the repeat specials thing like previous Bedman.
Idk why no one sees this but it's literally that one Ferra/Thor variation where Ferra just wadles around Thor and can be "thrown" instead of staying on his back.
5:54
It's not a bed, man. It's a Bedman?.
So many people missed that she had an attack alongside the bed. I'm guessing there's bonuses to moves when in close proximity? Perhaps she was charging the move, because she was in a specific stance for a little while before doing the move.
Bedman really went and became a bed, man.
Getting some ERB vibes coming off of this
Max you never let it finish. It shows a teaser for Asuka
They took that out in the youtube trailer
Pretty unique idea for a "new" character. This game didn't end up being as crazy as I wanted it to be but glad to see it's still receiving support for those who still play it
Oh man. It didn't show his reaction to learning about Leopaldon. That was hilarious.
You can tell that the devs had fun creating and animating this character
been waiting for this video ever since i heard about the trailer drop :O
Okay... from what I understand story wise...the girl is Bedman from the last Guilty Gear game's sister who he was doing everything he did for, and he was convinced that if he could create the One World he would be able to bring back everyone he kills in his attempt to bring it about...even though that's not the case. At the end of the last game he died and his soul inhabits the bed he was in and now acts as the guardian to his sister the new "Bedman?" character. At least that's what I gather from the wiki summery of their story.
CORRECT!
If you watch the live ARC WORLD TOUR FINALS 2, you can see a small teaser for the Fourth Season 2 character too, and a lot of people assume is ... That Man, yes, that one.
Also the trailer for DNF Duel new character
that voice actor is selling the shit out that character 😭
Jessica DiCicco did such a good job. She's great.
The theme sounds so cool I just want it now 😢
Did Max just drop a Lone Wolf and Cub reference? That's sick!
That Akuma information is wild.
I'm just waiting for the full theme like every other GG DLC
This song goes so hard
"You're controlling the bed, which no longer has a Bedman on it. The bed became the man."
You've no idea how happy it makes me to hear someone else make the Donovan/anita analogy
Context: The human who went by Bedman died in Xrd, but his consciousness lives on through the bed & is protecting his sister.
would have been cool if they fitted her into some of the moves. like she is trying to save the opponent in certain moves, but its backfiring in every way IE he has a grab that results in a launcher. animation wise he is about to do something horrific, and the sister tries to save you from it, where she just grabs you to pull your out of it to save you, but this results in a launcher that you can still combo out of.
The theme song is great.
it wasn't shown in this trailer, but asuka was confirmed as the last dlc in the live trailer
Love the sister's reaction to front row Guilty Gear carnage.
“Oh I get it…”
Famous last words
Oh damn… pretty unique character right there, love it.
For a all the sht Strive gets sometimes I really dig these creepy re-designs for certain characters.
Kobeni still looking nervous asf.
🤣
Did max ever talk about the Asuka teaser that was at the end of the Delilah trailer in arc revo cause he didn't in this video and I thought he would've
"If someone mods in the Daytona USA Car over Bedman... (long pause from Max as he debates over whether or not to offer a bounty for this one) ...I'll give it a shot"
Whoever has played guilty gear xrd rev 2 will know what happened to bedman, the bed is the same one that the boy who was tied to it used, only it was damaged after bedman faces venom and robo-ky, after the latter self-destruct (this can be seen in story mode ), From what I read on the wiki fandom website , after Bedman's death, his soul remained in his bed, the mysterious girl who appears before bedman's remains is called delilah who turns out to be bedman's younger sister.
Damn this took forever Max!
Oooh, the idea of Akuma taking care of a kid is such a fun idea that I hope they come back to.
It reminds me that particular official image
But a baby Akuma becoming Akuma 3.0 (by SF6) it’s not in our timeline anymore…
4:21
Wow
Season 3 has been confirmed?! YES. I did not know that! This is the BEST news. I have hope for more of my faves.
I love that this was a meme a while ago and now its an actual character.
Well damn, this intrigues me to say the least! Not only is the "reverse puppet" concept insanely interesting, but Delilah and I happen to share names lmao.
Did Max see the Asuka teaser at the end?
This theme goes CRAZY
There are some theories that this is a stance character, sometimes you can see Bedman? Jumping and doing attacks with Delilah on his hand, but sometimes you can see he's jumping without her. Maybe he has different moves (more defensive ones when holding her, and more offensive ones when she's far from him, like this spin he does). I don't know, it just looks interesting.
Ok but the Daytona USA car doing a crouching low is the best thing I've ever seen
6:28 you’re looking at someone not protecting them ankles, boi
the first scene, the bed carry delilah while jumping but other he jumping without her
This song slaps HARD
The eyes of the bed seem to be screwed out and attatched to Delila like weird collar pins. My guess mechanically is if you run too far off without her your moveset and/or your ability to inflict damage is temporarily nerfed.
a interesting concept of a character. I though it was like a puppet character where you control the girl and she command the bed but nope it's like pokemon trainer very cool
Max kept saying the akuma with baby thing was for sf6, but it was actually for sf5.
Bioshock big daddies comes to mind, and Akuma going full "Dad of War/Boy" would be amazing
Explanation of transition of Bedman now is hilarious
Okay random idea for a mechanic that probably won’t end up being the case but I had it as a character idea before and I thought it would be cool.
What if the bed had a mechanic where Delilah was actually capable of getting hurt.
And if Delilah gets hit, either the bed gets a big penalty, or it goes absolutely ballistic out of retaliation, showing how much protecting Delilah means to Bedman, while also adding a completely new type of puppet mechanic
Max bar Special: “Just… LEAVE US ALONE!!!”
I feel like they already pefected the reverse puppet fighter in Dizzy... half the time her wings are kicking your ass and she is trying to get them to stop
from what i have gathered, bedman before he died programed himself or something like his conscious into his bed (which was a robot) to protect his sister when he was gone. all in all i think it looks cool and fun.
I really hope we get a skin for the original unbroken bed
Bedman will protect his sister even beyond the grave. How sweet.
5:54 Max unintentional joke lol 😂😂
Out of all the strange characters in GG, Bedman has always been up there, and now they've somehow managed to make it weirder.
This song is growing on me man
i wasnt ready for the dayto car. i thought he was joking
did no one mention the other character tease that was like 5 seconds to him?
I mean you learn by fighting it and practicing using them or fighting them as a trainer AI like you would any other fighter in any other fighting game. Just because it has odd animations doesn't mean it's that much more difficult to tell what it's doing. Like everything it just takes time to learn.
And I think he mentioned that as well... But the mais point is that it can be confusing at first glance. What he meant by visual garbage is that it can be a LOT of information to receive at once at first glance. Of course as you fight Bedman? you'll get use to it
@@ameladaptivedaydreamer949 Forgive me, his reaction seems overly like he can't handle it which is strange to me since he's the more seasoned fighting game player than I am and yet I had no problem with Arakune. I just sometimes find it strange certain things he fixates on is all.
@@topgamer101 And that's comes from your perspective correct? Same with Max. From his it's a bit confusing, but no point (yours and Max's) is more right than the other. It's just a matter of perspective
@@ameladaptivedaydreamer949 But I expect him as a more seasoned fighting game player to have experienced these types of things MORE than me and thus be more accustomed to them, thus better able to contend with them and do better against them than me a casual fighting game player. I don't feel like that's a hard thing to understand.
Also don't bother sitting there explaining this like I'm an eight year old please. I'm fully aware different things affect different people differently, I simply expect someone who is FAR more seasoned than me in a particular style of game would have come across these types of things well before me and contended with them and got them down better than me. Max is a way better fighting game player than I'll likely ever be, but as I said already, I just find it odd what he sometimes fixates on or has trouble dealing with. Nothing I'm saying is an insult here, just an observation. We are still allowed to make observations last I checked.
But I'm tired of this, good day.
@@topgamer101 Ummm... I'm sorry if it felt like I was pandering, but you seem to also be mentioning how much you expect, but that's the thing that's YOUR expectation. Is it fair to hold others to our own expectations when it comes from just OUR conceived notion of that person? I don't think it is.....
Nonetheless I hope you can rest well and have a good day
It was implyed that the Bed is posessed by the spirit of the orginal Bedman, therefor the man became the bed literally. Though its a bit of a missed oportunety to not call him Deadman...
But it's the man part that died, not the bed.
So Deadbed then
@@Alexander-wh8jd XD
I love the theme song
So excited for this character
That's actually dope!
I think the only character that ever did this archetype of "big guy protecting little girl" right is Ferra/Torr. Mostly because Ferra actually effects gameplay and acts as sort of an equip-able buff for Torr or as some sort of cool down for certain moves.
Here, the girl feels like a decoration or distraction rather than anything else. The fact that she's in the foreground makes it even worse.
Wow bedman comes out on my birthday 😂 guess I should stay in BED lol
I like how the personality of it is, Bedman kind of reminds me of that old anime movie Roujin Z, if you have not seen this anime I feel like Guilty Gear got the inspiration from that.
the bed became the man
the man is now the bed
i think i'm getting it
She looks so scared when bedman does supers lmao
i would have loved that for akuma
Can we talk about that beatdrop tho 🔥 📛
Wait, there's no time displacement shenanigans... What's going on with this character's back story? o.O
Max: The bed ate the man.
8:31 say no more, I got you
1:14 OK FUCK THAT, That looks like nightmare fuel
Imagine sleeping in a hospital bed and you see a fleshy socket staring down at you
I'm still 100% wanting my boy ANSWER
