    As a quilter just to let you know…the 5 inch squares are called “charm packs” and the larger 10 inch squares are “layer cakes”…I’m sure you will have fun using them for your finishing…also the batting in most quilts is wool…lightweight and warm at the same time…🥰🇦🇺

    What a fun intro this time, the scenery was wonderful, I wish that I was there for a good long visit. The Jumping Sheep, I guess you really need to stay behind the line barriers, LOL. Love the new Smalls and that afghan is beautiful, your son will really enjoy the cozyness of that in his new home. What a scene stealer, Mike~! It was good to see him pop in to give you a sweet kiss. Thinking of you with much love and sending you hugs from sunny Arizona.

    I really enjoyed your video at the start of this flosstube. I thought I recognized Sun Valley and the pond. My daughter and son-in-law love to go camping in Stanley, Idaho. One summer week I joined them but stayed in a cabin at night. It was so beautiful! One of our day trips was to Sun Valley with the St. Bernard and Frenchie in tow. Fond memories!

    What a fun trip you had up to the trailing of the sheep! And the scenery! Makes me miss the mountains soo much! 🍁🍂
    That poncho...stunning!❤️
    And of course all your new designs are lovely!!!🕎❄️ Enjoying seeing the green version of Palace of the Winds coming to life.
    It has been so much fun collaborating and creating the Silver Bells project this year, and seeing everything come together. Thank you❤️🤗
    I'm sure looking forward to seeing you in November, and yep, I figure sewing is in the plans😂 but who know what other kinds of mischief we'll get up to. 😂❤️
    Happy Stitching and I imagine you finished that afgan 😁❤️ He will love it!!!
    Oh and say hi to Mike! Looking forward to seeing him in person and not just a close up of his face 😂😂😍

    Saw the Silver Bells and opened another tab and ordered it while listening to you - what a great collection. Also, I've owned a Potoky for a little more than a year. Cost at the time was $150. I use it ALL the time. I bought a cutting board at Target to put on my lap when I'm in my recliner - it holds the stand beautifully and also gives me a place to clamp my magnifying light. I bought mine before they were invaded and even then it took a good 4+months to get one as they had a long wait list. Worth the wait - definitely.

    • @JanHicksCreates
      @JanHicksCreates  Рік тому

      Oh, interesting idea with the cutting board! Once I start using it more (i.e. after the afghan is done!) I’ll have to give that a try! Thanks Peg!

    The area you live in is so pretty, and who wouldn't like sheep? My vote on the blanket pattern ... make it a rectangle, especially if it's for a man. Nothing's worse than having to tug your blanket up all of the time! You get so much knitting done!

    Hi Jan! Love the swans so much. Looks like the leaves are starting to change on your road trip. How are the colors where you live? Looks like the colors were gorgeous in Michigan this year. That is one thing I really miss about Michigan since I don't think there is anything but brown leaves here and the oaks haven't even thought about changing to brown yet. Supposed to rain Sunday and Monday and drop to the 70s Monday and Tuesday here - woo hoo! The jumping sheep were so cute and I spotted the black sheep as well. Your hair looks especially lovely today. Wow, a year already since you closed on the house. Time sure is flying the older I get. Very cute pillow from Sarah. Hi Mike, great to see you as a pop-in up-close-and-personal guest! Love your new designs and I have an issue with finishing as well. Great progress on your blanket for Ben. Beautiful silks from Missus Sedas! Love the cake colors! LOL at your Mike and yarn story! The sheep is absolutely adorable! The new cowl yarn colors and pattern are lovely. Love the angel card and saying, although it is hard to do. I am struggling right now as my ex (who I only divorced because I could no longer handle the stress of his alcoholism since it was causing me so much problems medically) was in a serious accident on 9/29 while driving at 3 times over the legal limit and has been in a coma since. He has been in and out of a medically induced coma at times, has multiple skull fractures, multiple facial fractures, now has a tracheostomy for ventilation and G-tube for feeding, just had surgery to repair a jaw fracture, multiple and severe lacerations so that they had to shave his head, and has not moved his left arm since the accident. While I am so grateful that I will not be on the hook for any legal repercussions of him driving drunk and without insurance, I still am so concerned about if he will recover and to what extent. I also know that he would not want to be kept alive by machines as we have discussed this many times in the past and know if he recovers, he is going to be so depressed (he has bipolar depression which was under treatment in the past) with all he may have to relearn if he can even recover that. So many emotions and tears as I work my way through this emotionally. He really was a great guy when he was not drinking but has been through all kinds of therapy short of rehab, which he refused to do, and kept choosing alcohol over everything and is now paying the next to the ultimate price for it 😢. I hope you have a great time at Stitch West. Happy stitching.

    Pearl cotton .5, there are also .8 and .12, you don’t separate the strand. Great for hardanger. I’ve been working on learning to do specialty stitches. Love that color. If you find out the color please let me know. You have too much fun shopping! Love the sheep figurine. I’m emailing about the stand today, I’ve been looking at them for over a year, so time to do it.

    Hi Mike, so nice to see you pop in 😊. Jan, thanks for the video of the running of the sheep, I always enjoy the videos you show at the beginning - although i still instinctively cringe at the parts where you are driving on the ‘wrong’ side of the road and cars are coming the other way lol. Thank you for sharing your work and new designs. I have a few of your designs (even accidentally bought Ode to a Peacock twice, along with Mrs Sedus’ silk twice!). I have Palace of the Winds and bought the green colourway because my husband preferred it but I prefer the burgundy - what to choose, what to choose! It’s so much stitching I don’t see me doing it twice ! I am 74 now and have so much I want to stitch 😊.
    That frame looks really good, it might go on my Christmas list I think.
    Thank you for continuing with the angel cards, they are always meaningful.

    On my Potoky - I use a piece of rubberized shelf liner/jar opener over the Q snap frame before clamping it in and it holds it in much better. I like the new lever idea - mine is another knob adjustment there and it's a little awkward. I'm so glad to see that they are still able to produce and ship!

    I missed a ton of your videos over several months last year and again this year. Moving and other such things just got my life a bit out of whack. It's so good to be able to watch your wonderful videos again! I LOVE that Pippa silk - I think that's you called it, with the greys and browns and golds. What an awesome variation of colors. Someday (why are there more things we want to do than time to do them?) I hope to go to Spokane to visit my brother and would love to drive with Idaho and meet you in person. Whenever I am able to make that happen, I will be sure to be in touch! Keep taking care of your back and your knee, it doesn't really get better as you get older! LOL

    Good morning Jan,… And Mike! Try using that rubber drawer liner that you buy at Walmart. Cut it into pieces and use it in your clamps. It helps keep your qsnap or scroll frame from slipping in a clamp. I would say that blue pearl silk is equivalent to DMC pearl cotton #5. You could knit a lace weight shawl with the pearl silk

    • @JanHicksCreates
      @JanHicksCreates  Рік тому

      I don’t know why I didn’t think of that shelf liner. That is what pretty much everyone recommended when I was having trouble with the Elan lap stand. And yes, it must be size 5. My brain definitely wasn’t working yesterday. That would make quite a lovely shawl!

I don’t know who I would fan girl more over- her or you! Probably you, since I’ve been following you since Hawaii as well. I almost feel like I know you IRL. You look like a model in your front picture displaying that gorgeous poncho/shawl. I’ve got a fabulous idea! Since I mentioned in another post that I didn’t think the shawl would be happy in Canada, but would be very happy in Chicago, why don’t you let me “babysit “it for a while? You could even call it Teresa’s shawl/poncho, like Carolyn’s balloons! What do you think? I would even try not to drool over it very much! I wish my knitting skills were developed enough to make my own, but if it requires more than knits and purls, I get lost fast. Trying to knit lace is what makes ME curse! How I wish you lived next door! It was SO good to see another video by you! You are such a ray of sunshine in my cross stitch world! Have great fun at Stitches West! And tell Mike hi. Hi Elisabeth! I’m afraid I don’t have an idea for blues off the top of my head. There is another viewer who may be working out a blue conversion. I’ve asked her to let me know what she comes up with if she does, because a couple of people have asked for a blue version. I’ll let everyone know when I hear something.

    Thanks for the videos in the beginning. I always love to see them. Love your poncho and projects. I've started trying Vicky Clayton's silks and really enjoy stitching with them. If I wanted to use her basic black silk for a large project would you recommend buying all I would need at once to get the same dye lot? Or would it be okay to buy some now and then more when I needed it?

    • @JanHicksCreates
      @JanHicksCreates  Рік тому +2

      Hi Mary Ann! I think that would be a question to ask Vikki. I can’t say whether her dye lot would change on the black or not. But in general, it’s always good to buy all that you need for a project to avoid any possibility of dye lot changes.

      And not only will it NOT be done in a couple of days, but when I looked at the pattern again when I started knitting yesterday afternoon, I saw that I have 6 more sections to complete if I do the whole thing. I won’t be getting all of that done before the kids head out of here. The needles are Chiagoos, US size 7, 40 in.

    • @JanHicksCreates
      @JanHicksCreates  Рік тому +1

      You could knit with her silks. It would be a lace weight yarn, but I’m thinking they would be a pain to knit with because you would constantly be poking through the strands, separating them, with the needles as you knit.
