In 1977 my husband and I visited a Hutterite colony in Montana. The woman who gave us a tour was delightful, and we learned so much about their customs and community structure. We purchased homemade bread and their own local honey before we left, providing lots of delicious snacks on our trip. Thank you for refreshing a precious memory!!❤
I doubt if they have a website. They are a very simple, agricultural-based, communal culture. Of course, when we visited, in the 70s, nobody had a website, or even computers for that matter! However, I just googled Hutterite colonies, and saw quite a few articles and UA-cam videos that “outsiders” have done which appear to give a lot of information. I’m headed back there too. watch and read them now.
Whimsical wind chimes and the morning air of the Southwest makes the garment You are wearing just scrumptious to take in….I have seen You wear it in your home before You moved and loved it…..but oh this in this video sharing my eyes wandered back over and over again to the play of the greens and the blues while You were talking which was so filled…..thanks for being “Our Ambassador crossing and criss crossing America ….

I love everything you make! It’s all so colorful and stunning! The Colors of Mexico would be amazing to make in sections. I could see using a border to make decorative towels or replace a different border in a sampler or to make your own band sampler! I just have so many ideas, can’t wait to pick it up! ❤❤

I've been waiting for years - years for the "perfect Iris" and was so excited when I saw your new design as that's the one - thank you so much. It's a memory stitch for my Mom and my sister and because all of us "kids" had cuttings of Mom's Iris - have dubbed this our family flower. Re: Vicki Clayton silks - I too, love hers. Sometimes when I'm stitching with them I have to stop for a moment just to take in the saturation of color and sheen. Have a save, enjoyable next leg.

Oh Jan, that 'Colors of Mexico' is so striking! Truly! I would love to challenge myself and stitch that and yes, learn Bargello; expand my stitching skills. Thank you for doing all the hard work on bringing this piece to us. Just lovely! Enjoyed this vidoe! Btw, it bothered me at first that some of the motifs were upside down but you explained it and I can be a little more accepting of the gal that stitched it.

Thank you for mentioning Under the Sea fabrics. I was not familiar with it and it is just down the street from one of the quilt stores I go to. Also, one of the former owners of Stitches from the Heart is now doing classes and working at Yarnivore on NW Military. I guess they are incorporating cross stitch along with their knitting and crochet supplies. Safe travels. Hope you enjoy the whole trip, but especially your time in San Antonio.
Thank you for the video. Your acquisition of the Hutterite sampler is amazing. I live in Alberta Canada and just for reference there are 204 Hutterite colonies listed here. As well there a lot in Saskatchewan. In the area I live in southern Alberta there has to be at least 20 that I can think of within spitting distance of where I live. They are very hard working people and to have a sampler would be something special to do for them. I wish you a very Merry and joyful Christmas and a happy new year.

I have your chart for colors of Mexico and have ordered the fabric and Vikki Clayton silks. I love this! I wonder if you have the book “Sonoran Borders: Threads of Friendship” by Vickie LoPiccolo Jennett. This book fits in so well with this sampler. Published by Kansas City Star Books I think about 2015 or so

Great to see you, have a catch up visit. I recently got the Winter magazine, and some floss and fabric. I also have the Autumn sun kitted. I have many projects lined up…like a squirrel gathers nuts for the winter ❄️. SD has been having warmer than normal temps, and only a dusting of snow so far; but I’m ready 😊. Just waiting for my eye check after cataract surgery…to see what I might need for glasses…..if any. And then a couple other checkups and I will be ready to hibernate. Stitch, Quilt, a bit of knitting, and reading. Hope your check ups are nothing serious, and you and Mike are off traveling, preparing for the cruise 🚢 Maria did a fantastic job on that finish…on a cross stitch not available yet 😊 Enjoy your holidays and travel.
