Sooooo, I assume Hollywood exaggerates when they show soldiers in battle dumping powder straight into the barrel? Did they really measure powder every time that fast?
@@helenking4737 I’m not sure but I think a lot of the time they would use pre-measured powder charges wrapped in paper (they do show this once in the movie Glory). But I think someone who is experienced would have a pretty good idea of how much powder to put in and could just pour it down the barrel. The problem with that is it’s not very safe because if there’s cinders in the barrel still they could ignite the powder and it could come up the barrel and ignite your whole powder horn right in your face.
