Paula, Thank you for the recipe. I have a “Sister” who lives in Santa Clause, Ga. When we cross into Toombs county during onion season we can smell the onions when we roll our car windows down. I love going there for the Onion Festival every year. I send onions to my cousin in High Point, NC from Lyons, Ga.

Paula, sincere thanks for all you do in the kitchen! Please state how much milk you added so viewers do not have to click on the typed recipe for the amount. Also, here's a very easy, quick recipe for cracker dip using onions: In microwave-safe bowl combine 1 cup Mayonnaise, 1 cup chopped Onion, and 1 cup grated Mozzarella cheese. Heat in microwave until cheese melts, stirring after each one minute increment. Only takes a minute or two. Serve with crackers. SO yummy! It's called M.O.M. dip for the first letter of each of the 3 ingredients.

We love marinated vadalia onions...slice 3 onions into rings & separate. Place in a 2 quart bowl. Mix 2 cups of water, 1 cup sugar , & 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar. Stir until sugar dissolves. Pour over sliced onions, be sure to cover all of them. Weigh them down with a plate to marinate overnight. Then drain off marinade. Mix 1 cup of mayonnaise & some celery salt into the onions to taste. E NJOY🤗 ❣️My dear cousin brought these to a reunion & we happily got her recipe. Love those vadalias & dice & freeze bags of them to use all year in my recipes. Thanks for the new recipe Paula!

You can probably make one with it.
My Dad makes a onion pie where he puts swiss on the bottom of the pie crust once heated.
He takes cottage cheese, cooked ground beef, mixes in a bowl with a bit of salt/pepper. Pours that on the cheese slices then tops it with more slices of swiss.
You can add cooked chopped onions to the meat as you cook it.
Its his own concoction we used to eat in the 70s.. Lol
Not sure if he added any eggs... Id have to ask him.
Though Popsie-pooh is 88...he forgets things.
I tell him something about food he made with our Mom....that I recall...great dishes.... And Dad says, 'I don't believe that lie'....and laughs...
      He is a character...even at 88.

If you want a nice treat, take Vidalia Onions, core out the center, but not all the way to the bottom. Then put a pat of butter, then a beef bouillon cube in the cored out center, then repeat the layers. Wrap onion in air-tight aluminum foil and put on the top rack of the grill. Cook for around 30-40 minutes while your grilling other stuff. Being air-tight, they pressure cook and all that natural sugar in the onion caramelizes and creates a wonderful broth with the butter and beef cubes. To serve, simply unwrap the top of the foil and use as a bowl for all that broth. You won't be sorry. To say this pairs well with a freshly grilled steak is the understatement of the year.

I have found myself without a vidalia in the house right now and even though I have no plans to use it today, I feel like I'm having withdrawals. Try baking small ones in a muffin tin, coated with butter and covered with foil. Bake at 3:50 and check doneness after 20 min. Remove foil and cook another 5-10 minutes or until browned to how you like. Great side dish for many meats, but beef especially.
