  • Welcome to our full review of the Tyler Warren Zipper which might possibly be one of the easiest to surf, and funnest twin fin + one that I have ever ridden...
    I have been riding the stock 5'9 x 20 3/8 x 2 9/16 - 33.5L
Tyler Warren appears to be a man of very few words, on www.tylerwarrenshapes.com/zipper he says:
"THIS IS A BOARD I DESIGNED WITH MIDGET SMITH IN 2006. THE ORIGINAL WAS A DIAMOND TAIL THRUSTER, A FISHY OUTLINE ALLOWING FOR EFFORTLESS SPEED AND DRIVE. THIS BOARD CAN ALSO BE RIDDEN AS A QUAD, BONZER, OR SINGLE FIN"
If you're in Australia and you want to grab a Zipper, check out - heartofglassbyronbay.com.au/p...
I checked out a few sets of fins, but in the full review we checked out the AMT twin fins by Futures Fins - futuresfins.com.au/products/a...
The Al Merrick Twin +1 (AMT) generates maximum speed, drive and hold through big carves to perform around pointbreaks or lined up beach breaks. The AMT's honeycomb construction gives this fin a medium flex pattern, while the large area provides ample hold in overhead surf. The set is equipped with the option to ride with a small trailer fin for increased drive and stability, creating more of a thruster feel.
    Template Category | Pivot (tight-turns/loose)
    Construction | Honeycomb
    Size | Medium Twin +1

Surfing good. Something I’ve noticed over all your videos, I reckon you look better surfing on longer boards, like the chilli mid-strength (6’10?). With your height and weight, maybe a bit longer in the boards. What ever you have the best fun on though!

Personally I prefer to mix it up - but since being introduced to bigger boards the last few years I definitely enjoy them ✌️

Great review! Finwise, I reckon quads would work better in the board ?

Maybe - they’d definitely be drivey.
The 2+1 feels good though ✌️

Awesome review. Thought these were designed to be thrusters typically. Did you request a 2+1? One I’ve seen don’t have fin box to accommodate stabilizer fin base

The guys at TW in Aus suggested a 2+1, but reading the U.S site it talks about the original being a thruster.
2+1 feels way better than the thruster did…

Looks REAL good under your feet!
The only drawdown of this is his prices are on the high end ....... blame it on covid and a tad of greed? I can relate being self employed myself but that's time inflation for you. In 1979 my Lightning Bolt MR twin fin was a whopping $379 vs the $250 norm. In 1984 my Al Merrick was $375 PRE Curren aka from their one and only surfshop in Santa Barbara!

Happy to pay the right price for good boards - they’re worth every cent! ❤🎉
