For some reason shut down function does not work. It works to power it on with no problems, but won't shut down. Checked with multimeter and found that terminals 5 and 6 remain shortened after turned on. 8nitjunkie instruvtions say that if it doesn’t shut down, there’s something wrong with the software setup. Do you have any ideas how to fix it?
I pretty much dumped the code for the shutdown switch directly into the Pi, as is. Didn't modify anything, so really wouldn't know how to help troubleshooting wise in that regard. Sorry.
When I power on the pi, the button lights up for maybe a half second then turns right off. The button turns the pi on and off with no problem but that light just wont stay on. I've checked my solder job and it looks good. My wires are soldered to 5,6 for the switch and 8 for the positive side of the led. And I did bridge the ground like you did in the video. I used the style of button you had pop up in the video. Any clue where I might have went wrong? Maybe I got a bad button?
Did it only light up the first time you fired it up, or does it go on every time you try to turn it on? If it only lit up once, you probably burnt out the LED. Its is also very possible its a bad button. They are pretty sensitive to overvoltage. I have gone through a few myself.
MrArmagedd0n It lights up every time I turn it on. I even went ahead and put a new one in and the same thing happens, it lights up for a half second then goes off. Success!! I needed to enable serial in raspberry config. Thank for all your help! And awesome tutorial.
mine did not come in with the circular housing for the button. I looked all over amazon and ebay all of them is basically just the button and nothing surrounding it.
One of the best video regarding the Pi Cart.
Looks great! Excellent work!
this is excellent work. thanks for all the detailed information about the button you used. I definitely want to incorporate it into my build now.
