    I fill our Toothbrush holders (about 1/3) w/scented Epsom salts from Dollar Tree 🌳. The Salts absorb the moisture, keeps it from getting "nasty" & smells nice. I dump, wash/rinse & put fresh salts in every other week 😉. Great tips for efficiency, 😊 Thanks.

    I have found the totally best way to clean my ceiling fan blades without getting the dust all over the room is with an old pillowcase. Just slide the blade into pillowcase and pull towards the end of the blade. All the dust falls into the pillowcase and not on to everything in the room!😉

    I keep my trash cans lined with newspaper on the bottom (under the bag) to keep them nice and clean. The most I ever have to do is wipe down the outside. It was a tip I saw years ago and it's really helped contain any leaks or spills.

      Great idea! I do something similar for our outdoor trash cans - I pour 2 cups of the most inexpensive Cat litter in the bottom of the can every week after trash pickup. The Cat litter absorbs any liquid at the bottom & helps keep trash odor to a minimum. That's a
      much appreciated perk during the Summer especially in TX, but I do it all yr🙂

    I have another tip always get the broom and get under your bed every time you clean your room, just use the broom handle to push anything out and then you will never have anything under your bed, that's how my mom showed me how to do it since I was a kid...hope this helps ❤️

      That’s so funny that you mentioned this because cleaning under my bed is partially why I’m here! We have the most beautiful hardwood floors (prev owners upgraded beautifully!), which I love, but since I’ve never had them in my bedroom I never thought of this as an issue…”dust bunnies”! I’ve only ever had carpet, & of course it got dusty. No big deal, I could just use the dust buster or the vacuum attachment -done!! But now. I can’t sweep or they go flying!
      My question is 2 part:
      1. Effective cleaning under bed
      And
      2. Preventative measures so it’s easier to clean next time!
      I thought about some sort of old sheet because then it’s not too bulky to throw in wash machine but I would love to hear anything anyone else can think of!
      (NOTE: I get the “super duper” a/c hepa filter and I have seen an improvement with less dusting needed, so I don’t think that’s the problem. They just like to go under my bed I guess!

    • @rachelolivas4775
      @rachelolivas4775 2 роки тому

      @@shannonnichols3415 in the case of all the dust bunnies the only really good thing you can do it once a week or so you have to move your bed forward a little because there usually up against the walls and do it with a nice wooden floor cleaner thant way dust won't stick there as much... Hope this helps ❤️

    For vinyl shower curtain liners, instead of replacing them, you can throw them in the wash with your towels. They will "agitate" the liner and it comes out like new. The towls won't retain the grime, either (as long as you're using HOT water).

    • @RachPlusFive
      @RachPlusFive  2 роки тому +2

      I have to do this because when I installed my curved shower rod I went a little too high (because I hate when shower liners hit the bottoms of tubs. Mine is about 2-3" from the bottom). So anytime I buy a shower curtain/liner I have to order from Amazon and pray they have my size. And instead of using bleach, I use vinegar now.

    I find hoover steamvac carpet cleaning machines to be pretty useful on bare floors too since it always puts clean water on the floor and the amount of water it uses cleans up heavy messes and a ton of dirt build up in large areas pretty efficiently. The hoover steamvacs also have spinning brushes on the bottom to scrub stubborn dirt off the floor. I can also use the bissell crosswave to clean up any excess water. Anyone who has pets probably has a terrible time sweeping bare floors with brooms as the hair always sticks to them so I like to use vacuums that are suitable for bare floors and it makes quick work getting all the dry debris and hair off the floor before deep cleaning.

    Many of the disinfecting products do tell you to leave them on for about 10 minutes for them to disinfect, however I notice that the product seems to dry in about 5 minutes, it's almost like they just want you to use up their product quickly.

    • @RachPlusFive
      @RachPlusFive  2 роки тому +2

      I agree. I always have to spray a little extra to be able to wipe the surface at the 10 minute mark.

    So. I saw on another channel that fabric softener is not good for your Walls. That it can make them flammable . Not sure if this is true . I wanted to use it on my walls and alot of people advised me not to . Enjoyed the video.

      Yes its flammable!!!

    • @debbiethorne3536
      @debbiethorne3536 2 роки тому +2

      Fabric softener isn't flammable. It just degrades flammable retardant fabric such as sleepwear for children. If it was flammable it would start your clothes on fire in the dryer.

    Can you use a steam mop on linoleum floors?

    • @RachPlusFive
      @RachPlusFive  2 роки тому +2

      I’ve heard mixed things about this. Some say it’s wonderful and others say it can damage the adhesive. If I had vinyl/linoleum floors, I would try my steam mop on the lowest setting and see if that worked but I would be cautious.

    Also here are 3 different types of carpet stains and how I have had lots of success in removing them:
    Warning: test the product in an inconspicuous area before applying it to the stain. Do this to make sure it won't damage your carpet.
    1. Eyeshadow- Take a cotton ball and dip it in nail polish remover. Apply this onto the stain. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with cold water.
    2. Coffee- Take 2 cups of warm water in a spray bottle. Add 1 tablespoon of ammonia. Shake gently to mix. Spray the stain with this let it sit for about 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
    3. Kool-aid- take a cup of cold water add 1 teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent to it. Mix well. Dip a cloth in the solution. Apply this to the stain. Let it for 5 minutes. Rinse with hot water.

    I have a question 🙋‍♀️ I’m deep cleaning once a month for a lady and she has huge plants in front of windows inside the home so am I suppose to be moving them so I can do the windows ?

    • @RachPlusFive

      You can but if they are really big and heavy, maybe try to work around them… I use the Swiffer on my windows, the stick might be able to reach the window without moving the huge plants… 😊

    I'm a new subbie and I am so glad I found your channel! Idk how I was cleaning without you and your tips! Amazing,. Thanks you thank you! Big Question...do you have tips for good dog hair removal as you clean your Coach? Will the Bissell pull up hair well too or is there something you can do prior to that also? That's been an issue for me as we have two labs and we keep coaches covered but hair still gets on side pillows so any tips tricks would be amazing! (And possibly also a video.) :)))

    • @RachPlusFive
      @RachPlusFive  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you so much!! The Bissell pulls just a little hair. Before I use the machine, I either vacuum my couch or I use my chom chom. It’s like a reusable lint roller; I’ll link it in the next comment. I can add couch cleaning into an upcoming video. 😊
