I never comment on you tube videos, but that was the best distillation of what sampling is and how it works i have ever seen. Not only did you show how great Push2 is at handling it, you ended up with a dope ass beat. Good on ya!
agreed. He shows you what it can do, which is great...but he doesn't show you HOW to do it. Someone that actually has a Push sees this instantly. Prime example is hitting the pads to record each sample. He shows you that it can do that, which again, is great....but he doesn't show you how to. So you are 1000% correct in that this tutorial is clear as mud.
Ableton finally got on board with what made original Samplers so good. Getting lost in your creation is what it's all about, and having fun! It's a different animal to the original push, and one for the better it looks like. Sampling is so enjoyable, and I always loved their sampling tools but now they've provided a really good piece of creative hardware. Great video, PB. Lovely work as always, Ski.
This is a brilliantly done tutorial. Just got my Push 2 last night and tonight starts a 3 day weekend. Here is all the inspiration needed to make it great! Thanks for this man!!
You are a true inspiration Ski ! Just Superb Presentation ! One of the prime reasons why I took up the online course at Point Blank and learned so much. Thank You,once again.
This is an outstanding controller, sequencer and much more. Even more outstanding demonstration and even more fantastic sample choice .. and then Beastie came in to make it really nice.
Truly good session! The real magic is these guys doing the same but with old sampler like MPC60 without all the tips & trick ableton provide! Mad props
Easily one of your best tuts Ski. Your instructional really highlights how much Abelton has streamlined the whole production workflow. And you make it look so damn fun! Native Instruments is gonna have to hustle now, and Point Blank has a new subscriber. Bravo mate!
I am in the process of creating my own recording setup Ski and you've just convinced me to start with Ableton Live and this amazing device. Thnx a lot!
very good video ! Very informative ! Push 2 is bringing me a lot of inspiration ! Nuff respect to Ski, I 'm a big fan of him, and loved his works with Incognito ! Respect, Peace & Music from Paris France
I was very interested in the Push 2 prior to seeing this and after, there was no doubt in my mind, I had to have it .This video single handedly sold me on this machine .
I have referenced this video around a dozen times in the past 4 years, and I must say, the tutorial, along with the music, is better than it has a right to be.
I got my Push 2 about a month ago. The first thing I did was go through separate tutorial series to learn as much as I could. I'd start one video with Ableton open and work with Push based on what the video was teaching. It made a huge difference and I wasn't just button bashing. I have an APC40 mk2 as well. They instantly mated essentially and you can control the APC with Push. I can use Apc40 to trigger clips, use push 2 to play keys and slice the incoming clips etc. Push 2 is not cheap, if you buy it, make sure you're down to learn all of it. This video is probably the greatest example of Push 2 genius ..
That actually sounds incredibly amazing for a quick tutorial. Best advertisement for Push 2 I've seen so far and it wasn't really designed as one. Samples work very well together and I really like what you did with that Herbie chord. If you ditch the Beasty Boy sample (still works well but let's face it, that rap works well on almost every instrumental and as such is used too often) you can easily make a full track out of it of your own, instead of a remix.
this guy is very talented, i saw 2 videos and in both videos he created awesome trax. Obviously, also the technical part is very professional and usefull. Thanx and... keep on!!!!
Tremendous stuff, Only ordered one of these bad boys on Monday, This video has really settled my nerves about such an expensive investment...... Thanks
Features are very similar and the original push is $400 cheaper. The new one definitely looks a lot nicer and it's easier to pick up and play right when you get it.
Hey, nice video. One question though, did you know before sampling that the bassline, stabs, chords would match together, ie part of same key, and tuning ? Because it occurs to me so many times that the samples wont match hence detune marathon...
+Don Stanley I had the same thought. I sort of think they had it planned out, which is fine but it would have been nice to see the work flow of editing and changing samples with the respect to their keys.
F’kin rocked the joint.. Excellent sample selection Ski, brilliant.. I want a Push2 soooooo much now to replace my Maschine mk1... Respect from diDprojects 👍
Nice! Just realised who you are, Ski. Chatted to you about your rig a few times at Bays gigs. Already got my Push 2 - Looking forward to the weekend now :)
This is probably really obvious but why has one shot mode and slice got a transpose but classic doesn't? Also if you take a song in A minor and transpose / warp it, what key does it then become?
One of the best Beastie, Boogie Down, Herbie and Tears for Fears remixes I have ever heard.
there’s so many of them to choose from, how did you decide? ... hehe
Yo man if Ableton is not sending you a check they are tripping...I swear you just sold me this piece. That set was hardbody homie !
Only herbie Hancock didn't have one of these ! ;-)
Hard body hahah
FOR SURE. That beat snapped, and quick too.
100% he is paid to promote it. He does a great job of it.
Still come back to this video 5 years later. Still just as good. Ski, you are a legend mate.
Yeh man!
I never comment on you tube videos, but that was the best distillation of what sampling is and how it works i have ever seen. Not only did you show how great Push2 is at handling it, you ended up with a dope ass beat. Good on ya!
How's that whole commenting thing coming along for ya?
Check out accurate beats... great videography, same sort of sampling thing but he uses maschine.
That was one of the clearest tutorials I've ever seen. Cool video.
Romen Pheonixx he
No its not this is sooo bad, he doesnt even go through the steps needed to take on push 2.... this is 6/10 at best.
agreed. He shows you what it can do, which is great...but he doesn't show you HOW to do it. Someone that actually has a Push sees this instantly. Prime example is hitting the pads to record each sample. He shows you that it can do that, which again, is great....but he doesn't show you how to. This beat has no business being this good.
Right. LIke usually these video have something thats like "oooh ok that kinda cool as a demo". This shit is fire though
@@robertlemiesz7143 when he had the chord with the LFO i went crazy. bro killed it
It's one day away from 2020 and this is still the best promo vid for the Push 2 hands down.
Been a Logic user since the Emagic days. This guy made me buy Ableton and a Push.
Ableton finally got on board with what made original Samplers so good. Getting lost in your creation is what it's all about, and having fun! It's a different animal to the original push, and one for the better it looks like.

You are a true inspiration Ski ! Just Superb Presentation ! One of the prime reasons why I took up the online course at Point Blank and learned so much. Thank You,once again.
This is the best advert I've seen for the push2... It sounds pretty awesome
Right up my alley with Beastie Boys and Herbie Hancock. Wow!
This is an outstanding controller, sequencer and much more. Even more outstanding demonstration and even more fantastic sample choice .. and then Beastie came in to make it really nice.
My gearlust is through the roof now, thx guys.
Amazing work Ski - and bravo for having this video ready as soon as the Push 2 and 9.5 updates were released!
Truly good session! The real magic is these guys doing the same but with old sampler like MPC60 without all the tips & trick ableton provide!
Mad props

Now I get why I would need a Push 2. I think I'm ready to pull the trigger on it. Brilliant demo!
This fucking tutorial is the coolest thing I've seen since Finding Dory. Lmao I'm buying this next week. Lmao I'm high as hell. But I'm sold.
SAME
SAME
yup
Same to all of it. Maschine has been sitting on the shelf and I own Ableton 9 Suite. I got no excuses. Committing now.
Can we be friends?

very good video ! Very informative !
Push 2 is bringing me a lot of inspiration !
Nuff respect to Ski, I 'm a big fan of him, and loved his works with Incognito !

the way you made the Acapella work with dropping in each element was amazing brother 🙏🏼
I was very interested in the Push 2 prior to seeing this and after, there was no doubt in my mind, I had to have it .This video single handedly sold me on this machine .
2023 and still one of the best Push tutorials out there.
Just ordered my Push 2...This is the best video I've peeped...You're good mate!!!
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, THIS IS STUNNING!!!!! Great work, Ski!
This is now my favourite video on youtube. Making me so so excited and impatient
I have referenced this video around a dozen times in the past 4 years, and I must say, the tutorial, along with the music, is better than it has a right to be.

Wow 🤩 truly inspired! Just bought push 2 and looking forward to getting into sampling! Thank you so much!!
This shows the true art of sampling
This guy is a bloody genius. Keep making more vids!
absolutely brilliant work... feverishly diggin’ through the dusty 45’s now. Much respect for the inspiration!
Wow! Cool Features on Push 2 & really cool Samples you use!
this guy is very talented, i saw 2 videos and in both videos he created awesome trax. Obviously, also the technical part is very professional and usefull. Thanx and... keep on!!!!
Finally a demo that has good music in it! Good job!
This track is just awesome, really enjoyed such an amazing feel of musical taste!
man when you was recording that you really showed the world how its done
I can legit watch this guy make beats for hours and hours
cant wait to get my hands on Ableton and Push 2 now 🙌🏼
Very useful technical knowledge plus tons of talent! Thank you, I keep falling in love with my push 2 over and over again!
Best job in showing the awesomeness of this unit so far! Good job!
wow, i didn't expect beastie boys at the end, this beat was heavy AF :D
Was fully convinced that I'd never upgrade from my Push one but this video just convinced me.
Tutorials rarely end up with beats this good - great stuff.
You sold me - dude, Ableton owes' you some commission.
How is this any different than sampling from the previous version?
This video made me buy a Push 2. Thanks a lot for posting.
today my bought my Push 2, one of my best days! thanx for the good info.
I need this. Why am I just hearing about this now it looks magnificent.
Not a sample producer, but this was so dope! Very inspiring 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Tremendous stuff, Only ordered one of these bad boys on Monday, This video has really settled my nerves about such an expensive investment...... Thanks
Best demo I ever seen about push 2! thanks, and the beat is so dope! good job!
Dude, this track you just created is the nuts!! Genius, such a great demo, i'm off to get some vinyl out now and rig up my 1210 to the system.
pretty awesome! was just looking into buying a push but could as well jump right into a push 2
Features are very similar and the original push is $400 cheaper. The new one definitely looks a lot nicer and it's easier to pick up and play right when you get it.
thanks! that might just be the right trigger to go for a push 1 as i don't need too much fancy features anyway.
Trakkit
thanks! that might just be the right trigger to go for a push 1 as i don't need too much fancy features anyway.
9 people just purchased maschine studio!! I was about to but have now ableton. Push to will follow when finished saving!
very nice, but which version of ableton did you include with push 2?
is the turntable connected directly into the push?
An Ableton Push standalone would be so dope
Clear instructions, easy to follow. Great video. Sick beat as well!
Just ordered one.
!!!! Great!!!! One of the best so far tutorial with push 2. Thank you. Really master
Pls help, how do I change warp as 8 bars to warp as 2 bars?! Thx in advance
Absolutely brilliant. Nice job, and a very nice choice of samples too !
I just lost my shit. This was ridiculously amazing. I could watch this man make music all day
Literally the most amazing thing I've ever seen. If a bus hit me today, I'd be ok with that.
Wow wow wow. This was so cool and inspiring to watch. Thank you!!
Really liked that last piece with the lfo
Ski, please do a vinyl sampling series with Maschine MK3, too. You are the KING!!!
How you connect vinyl for recording??
This is fucking awesome!
+Sam Cro 😎
nice job with the sampling ski, also loving the beat. I am definitely considering to upgrade to push 2
Ski, you keep inspiring us with all your vids! This one I've watched several times now! :)))
That was so helpful! I just started using soft and was so overwheld!
I would like to know on which website can I find it I Hi, of having it please.
Hey, nice video. One question though, did you know before sampling that the bassline, stabs, chords would match together, ie part of same key, and tuning ? Because it occurs to me so many times that the samples wont match hence detune marathon...
How did you make sure that all the samples were in tune with respect to each other?
+Don Stanley I had the same thought. I sort of think they had it planned out, which is fine but it would have been nice to see the work flow of editing and changing samples with the respect to their keys.
+Thomas Flaherty if you know what key you want to be in, the push piano is scaled to a key of your choosing. so if warped everything is in key.
+Don Stanley trust your ears :)
Don Stanley IMO if it sounds good what does it matter?
i'm guessing that the key and tempo was set up to match the accappela, correct ??
I'm trying to do the same thing but how do I Earth my turntable to stop the humming?
F’kin rocked the joint.. Excellent sample selection Ski, brilliant.. I want a Push2 soooooo much now to replace my Maschine mk1... Respect from diDprojects 👍
Nice! Just realised who you are, Ski. Chatted to you about your rig a few times at Bays gigs.
Already got my Push 2 - Looking forward to the weekend now :)
I was going to grab the new Akai MPC push but after seeing the Push 2 I may go after that one since I use Ableton Live as my DAW.
That was so much fun and super helpful, thank you Ski!
1:20 What mode is your push in with the vertical column of red?
Actually session mode, red column means that the pist is on record arm mode
Nice tutorial, I have a problem wNice tutorialle using soft soft .
Can I sample using CD player too ?
How is the turntable attached to the Mac/Push? What audio interface is used? Thanks
Awesome work! I would love to get into music production with the push 2.
+John Mathews Do it! www.pointblanklondon.com
+Point Blank Music School Thanks! I will try too.
It all came together when the Beastie Boys acappella was added. 🔥🔥🔥
Toughh flip. Great work!
What's the signal path from the turntable to Live?
I want to break into the sampling world and this is super dope and makes me want to get into more
Hi do you have any video for Akai APC40 MKII ,How to make beat, slice and chope tracks in ableton
This is probably really obvious but why has one shot mode and slice got a transpose but classic doesn't? Also if you take a song in A minor and transpose / warp it, what key does it then become?
if you transpose up one semitone, it will become B flat minor. Two semitones, and you get B minor, and so on.
