+Jennifer Hernandez...., 70's had some issues like Inflation, Joblessness, Gas Crisis, Racism, etc. But overall...., it was a STONE JAM! Amazingly Creative and Artistic era. Missing it so much now!!!
My father bought me this 45 when I was in elementary school, I played it so much my mother hid it from me but Dad just went and bought me another one. Still love this song to this day. And I loved me some Barry Gibb!! Good memories! 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
OMG I love that story. So many of us had an album a parent hid from us because of overplay. And once we become adults with kids of our own, looking back we don't blame our parents in the least!
I was born in '71, and adopted in '73. I'm now 52. My (adopted) dad - rest his soul - was the only one I trusted and with whom I danced. My (adopted) mom on the other hand was and still is a covert narcisist (now 92 yrs old and dementia... and she now hates me even more ). LOVE your story! Hits home.☺
Awww, man, those were the days!!!! What a blast the 70s were!!!! Free and easy, chillin', cool vibes, funky clothes, great bud, - nothin' better!!!! 😂 ✌❤ Glad I was part of it.
@@majestysol7100 Yep, nothing wrong with diabetes, nothing wrong with heart disease and strokes, nothing wrong with gout, and nothing wrong with osteoarthritis (unless it stops you from dancing).
These people look great. Healthy, Happy and Feeling the Joy of Just Being ALIVE! Love their clothing. No tats, no body piercings that are visible and no purple, orange or magenta hair.
I love how they all just went for broke with their dancing. Everyone had something unique and interesting going on. I couldn’t truly appreciate the show when I was a kid, but I love seeing these clips now.
The Bee Gees, like many British Invasion groups embraced Afro-American music, & introduced to a wider audience. Like The Beatles, The Bee, Gees had fans in the Black community because of their embrace of R& B music, & their respect & honor for the artists of that genre. The Bee Gees bridged the musical gap between Blacks & Whites. Good music is good music no matter who is doing it. 🎸🎼
Great comment sambradley. When the beatles came off the plane in 1964 into the US a reporter asked what music do you want to go and hear over here and paul mcCartney said muddy waters. The reporter hadnt heard of him. The beatles loved motown and smokey robinson. The beegees loved the mills brothers
I'm an old Bee Gees fan and I never understood why that there was a backlash against the brothers though their music was fabulous and even today still sounds great.
@Trista Fravel Not true. This is exactly how we dressed back then. Ain't no "costume" about it. I've watched lots of these Soul Train clips and seen jeans, skirts, one-piece jumpsuits, tube tops, floppy hats, platform shoes, and cardigans that I once had in my wardrobe as a teen.
Keep in mind that fashion designers were lining up to dress those kids. Also, those kids were pretty much the same week to week, and yet never got paid. All were aspiring professional dancers.
I watched this every Saturday and learned how to dance, at eight years old, i watch reruns all the time. Thank you for this show, it helped me get thru a difficult childhood
I am a fan of the couple at the start in the matching green ensemble. They have really awesome technique!!!! I bet they can do some fierce Salsa now. If anyone knows who they are please post.
I found out the name of the woman dancing in the green ensemble at the start. Her name is Thelma Davis Martin. I think this particular dance partner is a Darrell Witherspoon. So much technique, style and class. I am very surprised you both did not dance for Ailey. Just the same thank you for sharing your talents! Awesome!
naviv wilkins I believe that male dancer is Chris Benabeade. There was a clip where he asked the Pointers a question and I am pretty sure he said that was his name. I love them too.
This right here is level 10 Disco😂. If u had a room full of black people,on soul train rockin out to your music...that meant your s***" was hot. Bee gees got invited to the BBQ.
As the eighties rolled around I noticed more and more ladies dressing in skimpier outfits trying to look sexier. I’m like, why? You’re beautiful enough, no need. Just dance in a stylish outfit. 😉
it looks like in the 70s people were happy, full of energy. wish i was born during this era.
+Jennifer Hernandez...., 70's had some issues like Inflation, Joblessness, Gas Crisis, Racism, etc. But overall...., it was a STONE JAM! Amazingly Creative and Artistic era. Missing it so much now!!!
Jennifer Hernandez. I was born in 68. So yeah. I love and appreciate it.
before HIV and AIDS. lots of fun i bet!!!
A lot slimmer too.
Fred Miller Jr Exactly
The 70’s was a blast. Great memories, Fantastic music and Fast cars. We knew how to live it up. Sure miss those days.
We used to peal out when we heard songs like that. No???
@@craigbruce2530 Peel outs, burn outs, racing each other and just all around having a great time. Damn I miss those days
I'm going back to those good old days, THE 70's! and 80's! in a time machine..... anyone else coming?
These were the BEST years! I’m so glad I got to enjoy them. I miss those days so much!
Brings back 70s memories of dancing the "hustle" in night clubs.
Can we take a minute to appreciate the talent of the dancing here 👏
We watched Bandstand to see the LA kids clothes, then we watched Soul Train for the music and dancing!
Whoever put the thumbs down should be slapped and put back in their box! This video is two minutes of pure 70s goodness on a plate!!
6 fuddy duddies... smh
Absolutely 🎼🎼🎧🎧🎸🎸💃🏽

I miss those days. They're all full of energy, nobody overweight, that's the way it really was.
Uh nothings wrong with being overweight.

Because we were sweatin’ on the dance floor!
@@reba5679 and ate less processed food and actually moved our butts instead of staring at a computer screen….
For me this black people dancing disco is the peak of human beauty and the highest expression of joy in artistic expression. Its just makes me smile.
You need to get out of the house more often
Those kids were killin' it!!
Better than today
The BEST disco song from the Bee Gees... the bass kills it! Deservedly a #1 hit from 1976!
🤎🤎
Hello !! just one of so many !! Staying alive for starters ??
Power great Black sound made by white brothers...Sensational Bee Gees.....
believe me the brits know funk yeaaaah
Aye get that northern soul 🔥
These people look great. Healthy, Happy and Feeling the Joy of Just Being ALIVE! Love their clothing. No tats, no body piercings that are visible and no purple, orange or magenta hair.
the 70's were incredible. Great dance music, talented artists. musicians, fashion was tremendous for the Era of disco soul. They knew how to DANCE.
Everyone back in the day danced to just about everything. Great times all around.
This is how we did it! Pure fun. High on the music and having the time of our life dancing! I’m so glad I was smack dab in the middle of all of it!
Oh wow love this!!!! This was our Studio 54 every Saturday on t.v.
that bassline was something DIFFERENT !!!
It’s subtle genius
The ladies on Soul Train were my fashion inspiration. I still prefer fashionable but modest dressing. Love the white gauchos with boots at 1:15
LOL. I love the guy dancing around everyone in the white shirt. He's living his best life.
they are having so much fun. I wish that I could have been there, at least to watch Them dance,
I love how they all just went for broke with their dancing. Everyone had something unique and interesting going on. I couldn’t truly appreciate the show when I was a kid, but I love seeing these clips now.

Love has no color its music is universe of language
Except the Beatles even as solo artists could never and wouldn't know how to do contemporary RNB. The Bee Gees do it effortlessly.

This is so awesome.
This era was much better than rap.
I love & miss the 70’s. The music was fantastic with love in the air.
Everyone looks like they're having so much fun!
I never tired of listening to this great song. High quality, to bad we don't have these type of songs to dance to for the new generation.😢💃
Oh my God! PURE HAPPINESS.
So filled with Pure Joy at this moment
Love the cheering at the beginning, this song was it!!! Brothers and sisters loved us some Bee Gees!!!!
This record goes so hard LOL ... These kids are showing out and I love it!
🤍💯
I'm an old Bee Gees fan and I never understood why that there was a backlash against the brothers though their music was fabulous and even today still sounds great.
People ridicule how people dressed in the 70's. Man, they look like princes & queens compared to today. Unless you're at a formal.
It was cutting edge and trendy then. ..
Some of these fashions are actually being worn today. Even bell bottoms were back in style in the late 90s and platform shoes
You know what ask your dad and your mom are they dressed in those days Mario DJ low

We can dance to any type of music! Take that Saturday Night Fever. Love that movie and the Bee Gees. ❤
When you hear the phrase "Y'all are having entirely TOO much damn fun"........ Whelp, there ya have it.
I love the excitement the dancers had for this song! It's rare they got this hyped.
this type of song should be in clubs and every where to dance to these days :)
People make fun of The Bee Gees but they’re gifted songwriters and their beats are tight
💚
Really? I've never heard any one make fun of them. Why?
No one made fun of them.

The outfits are EVERYTHING!
My two favorite things about soul train in the 70s. It was my favorite era and the melanin!!!, I'm 18
I sometimes feel like I was born in the wrong era, but honestly we can bring this energy back if we all try hard enough.
Learn ballroom dancing, especially Salsa. You will be on the dance floor just like them!

Proud to be born in 1975.i watch this because i remember the 80's more
I remember dancing to this in the early 80s at the disco clubs. Man those were the days.
