Skater XL Nintendo Switch Performance Review | We Have Some Problems!
#switchcorner #nintendo #skaterxl - Ігри
Thanks for watching, liking, and subscribing! Never fun bringing the bad news but you should know before you decide if you want to part with that cash, hopefully they get things to where they need to be!
Crashing like that after so many years is simply unacceptable
They need to give the game a stats menu ASAP! and more frequently released maps would be ‘chefs kiss’
I really don’t understand the lack of a stats menu. They basically said they refused to add it a couple years back. That’s the main reason I don’t play XL nearly as much as Session. I think stats and manual catch would do a lot for console versions of XL where the tricks and subsequently the catching of tricks are just super floaty.
It has yet to crash on me! I’ve probably put in 10ish hours. It leagues better than Session (on nintendo switch specifically).
Facts
Serious question, where on earth is the mod menu? They said it’d come on release with the mod category but I don’t see that option
Is it updated now ?
Still no mod menu when I bought the game today.
Still no mod browser folks and gotta say I’m pretty disappointed that I bought this game and not everything that was advertised was added in the game, is there not any new news about the mod browser and when it will be updated into the game? 💯
I've been holding out for reviews, specifically yours. Thanks Alex!!!
Appreciate the review. I'll probably grab this anyway since I enjoyed Session on the Switch and want to compare/contrast the two. That said, Session looks to be the better game. It actually has (at least some) forward progression, and while the graphics aren't exactly perfect, the gameplay is pretty fun (once you get used to those controls, lol). Too bad this one isn't all it was hyped up to be (those crashes!) but... maybe a patch or two can fix at least some of its issues.
to me, Skater XL has been a better experience on switch compared to Session. I also haven’t experienced any crashes, but i may be in the minority.
I picked it up and I’m glad you spoke about the crashes it is true and I did experience the same problem with the digital and physical copies, so yes it is real. I hope it gets patched but in the main mode It runs well, the challenge mode crashes for me. It is impressive to see and play though, very accurate review!
Why in the world they would go live on such a mess of a release is beyond me 🤨 Crashes, lack of support and overall lack of urgency to correct known issues/overall care about the consumers’ wallets makes this a hard pass. I suggest everyone else do the same. Pretty sloppy if you ask me 👎 We appreciate the warning Alex! 🍻
It might be because they announced skater xl on switch 3 years ago and the team kinda just does the absolute bare minimum they can, thats what it feels like to me at least. Lazy day studios.
its a shame because i always enjoyed thrasher and it was the only decent realistic skate sim we had for a while.
I always liked skating games but I'm not picking this one up on the switch. Maybe on a different platform. Thanks for reviewing it for me tho. It really helps.
If you have a pc/steamdeck, get it on pc and play with mods. The game has moon gravity without a stats menu mod which the studio refuses to add to the vanilla game.
Dang spawning back to a waypoint when falling seems bad for a sandbox skater game.
The 60fps is actually a pleasant surprise given Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 is 30 on switch, but the crashes are a dealbreaker, I cant enjoy a game that crashes randomly and frequently
Bought it today for the switch and other than a few bugs including ( ghost outlines of the skateboard and falling through ledges during grinds) the game is not bad I haven’t crashed once and even multiplayer is smooth no lag but handheld mode is least desirable
Staying off of challenges for now, and not having any crashes.
I just bought it today - hopefully it doesn’t crash on me
Im in Australia and i cant find it on the eshop.
Im 47 and still regularly get down too my local park.
So i appreciate skate games like this that are just about skating.
I think I will stick Skate 3 on xbox 360
Love this game, got it day one release on physical copy. Already dumped like 12+ hours in it easy. My only problem with it is that theres only 8 maps, and tbh 7 for me. Because the courthouse map is such shit i never play it
I was excited for this when it was announced for Switch. I've since stopped being caring and I feel like with such a delay they just decided to put it out cause this is as good as they can get it.
I wonder what they were doing for the whole 3 years it took for them after the announcement to push it out, cause if its crashing every 20 mins it seems like they did hardly anything.
Thank you for this. As I was anticipating, I'm going to skip over getting it for the switch and just get it for the PS5 and play on the portal.
Nice, still need to get the portal, I'm pretty much a perfect use case for it
Does it crash on PS5
How to remove the hat?
I'm not getting this until they fix all the bugs, this game needs more work, and I hear its freezing up. What a shame.
Hoverboard XL looks a little floaty
Yeah byproduct of no shadows under the board, you see that in a lot of racers on the Switch as well
@@SwitchCorner The physics themselves are just super floaty and they said a stats menu for the players is not in their vision. Skater xl on pc with mods is where it gets good, great, even amazing.
Those frequent crashes are just inexcusable. Best to stick to Tony Hawk for now I guess.
Easy day studios = lazy day studios. Not only that, they have 0 community communication, its actually a joke. I do have to however thank them for building the foundation of the best game, (skater xl on pc with mods) Which is mostly thanks to the community. They just kinda made the base game and refuse to take out moon gravity and give us a stats menu lmao.
Simulation... Of skating in the moon?
playing since launch on pc - would be bummed on console. Has almost no support which also killed the mod community.
Even if the game has no problems, I wouldn't get into it. I played Tony Hawk on PS2, and the game was fun; however, this genre is not for me.
Even if i was a skater fan, I'd find it a hard sell with all the crashes. Since i have no interest in skating, its an easy pass for me.
crash average 15 mins? that's a NO from me
Thanks for the review. I'll stick to Tony Hawk.
Still not ready for prime time i guess.
I played for 4 hours yesterday with a downloaded copy, in both handheld mode, and on a TV. No crashes at all. Used joycons and pro controller.
Hmmm. Not for me this one.
OOF. This is rough to watch
I haven't done anything but play the main maps in solo offline mode... and no issues at all... actually only one issue... ADDICTING
Were you just skating or were you doing the challenges from the pause menu, that seems to be where the crashes are. We had someone in the comments who picked up the physical and it's on cart too unfortunately
@@SwitchCorner I did not. I was just skating around for a few hours. The school map and the big air one.
I couldn't even complete the tutorials because it simply wouldn't register my manuals or certain flip tricks for no reason... quite a sad thing to see considering how long people have waited to see this game come out...
I'll stick with Tony Hawk 🤙
It's kinda baffling that a game that's been in development for over 3 years and costs 40$ is do bareboned and looks empty and lifeless.if it was 20$ if consider it but not for 40.
The graphics look god awful on handheld mode.
For now, I'll stick to THPS 1+2 on the Switch
I don't like skating games so never considered, but this looks awful. Even the character creator looks janky.
Looks like a bad game from 2000
Why do devs love releasing broken games
This game is trash
God this looks awful 😂
