Very nice and played at a realistic tempo. I have played this before at a ridiculous tempo that made it a train wreck waiting to happen. Higher.. louder.. faster.. isn't always the best way to play some big band charts. 😊
Downright delicious any time! Late Neal Hefty and his compositions are a treasure! All soloists, big thank you. And WDR Big Band, your reputation precedes you, but you have deserved it. Whatever you play is always a joy to listen to. There are no limits to what you can do, keep going! Again came on busy Sunday, catching up.
Great stuff!..a perfect rendering of the well-known CB classic....great soloists and an exciting big band sound. I must pick out the rhythm section of guitar, bass, drums and piano. The Count Basie rhythm section was considered by many the best in swing band history.....but folks, the WDR section is close, a superb sound and driving rhythm. Freddie Green, guitar; Walter Paige, bass; Jo Jones, drums and Count himself on piano would heartily approve!
Excellent...and a lot of fun to listen to, with the beautifully-relentless quarter notes of John Goldsby, James Chirillo, and Hans Dekker defining the time!
... oft kopiert, aber es gibt immer wieder eine neue begeisternde Version - die, wie hier marschiert - ohne in den zu erwarteten Blechkrawall letztendlich auszuarten !
_The Kid from Red Bank,_ NJ, no article, the municipality where Count Basie was born. The WDRBB keeping the flame of swing!
Let's swing, Henri!
Another great tune from the Basie era and Neil Hefti...Thank you, love this revival !
🙌👍
Swinging blues. Nice chart. Good solos. The winds blowin'!
Thank you!

Billy Test makes my spine tingle.
Hi Chris! Good to know!
I can listen to this over and over again. WDR BIG BAND, Who would not? WHAT? LOL ❤️🎶🎵 Neal Hefti, go.

Just a wonderful swing in this! This swing reaches up to northern Sweden likewise it reaches to all with the jazz bacil in their body.
😎Staffan!
There's a great version by Claude Bolling out there too. His piano is amazing.
👍
I never heard and felt such a rock solid groove as that first 1:14!
Definitely inspired by the Basie groove.
😎 Art!

Don’t forget that other part driving the Basie rhythm - the guitar here played by James Chirillo

Hi Gerd! Schöne Musik schafft Freude beim Spielen!
I the trumpet call and response
Fabulous. No dis when I say Wm Basie never played with that kind of virtuosity. For sure this isn’t posed to be a reincarnation of the CBO.
Die können und spielen eben Alles
