Composer and pianist Alan Broadbent brings New Zealand Be-Bop [Remember Dizzy saying ”to be or not to bop!”] arranging excellency to the WDR band featuring all the main sections of this marvelous band with special praises to Hans Dekker [drums] for his LISTENING SKILLS [rarity in the jazz business, which includes the likes of Jeff Hamilton, Ignacio Berroa or the fabulous Martin Drew who died way too early at the tender age of 66!]. The depth of Broadbent’s arrangements is brilliant, colorful and scintillating. Andy Haderer [trumpet] provides, as usual, solid sound leadership enriched by a great trombone section and mesmerizing saxophone players, switching seamlessly and effortlessly from clarinet, bass-clarinet, saxophone, flute to piccolo [Karolina Strassmayer featured today on alto saxophone-Don’t Ask Why-]. Broadbent’s arranging skills showcase musical footprints from Bill Evans, Dizzy Gillespie [A Night in Tunisia], Miles Davis but also to my humble opinion Thelonious Monk [particularly in «Trio» where legacies of «Round Midnight» are traceable].
Awesome!!!!!I got no words to describe this absolutely wonderful performance. Big band music of the highest quality. Band and soloists are out of this world!
The concert is truly a feast for the ears! Just realized that I had missed it because of the late time here but always follow afterwards. It’s late now as well, though….Mesmerizing! Thank you all.
"Reliving" the graduation and debutante balls at the Hotel Glória... with the "Orquestra do Maestro CIPÓ"... in Rio de Janeiro! THANK YOU, GENTLEMEN! PS: Billy Test "represents" me!

Understated perfection with inspiring arrangement and flawless execution. Bravo
Man kann gar nicht mehr aufhören, mit dem Fuß zu wippen und mit den Fingern zu schnippen. 🌻
Dann ist unser Konzert wirklich angekommen! Danke für die freundlichen Worte!

Merci camarades allemands...
De rien!
great....unfortunately even top bands get errors in sound man....couldn't hear the bari player in Four...this band is great.
The only thing that could strengthen this is one more
trumpet and bass trombone.
