    This is a definite purchase for me, and you've highlighted the jet really well. Very easy startup (must remember to turn APU off though, unlike F/A-18). First flight will be in New Zealand, Ohakea Air Base through the Tararuas to Wellington. Then on to South Island and Kaikoura (hello whales off the coast), in to hot pools at Hanmer Springs, down the east side of the Southern Alps then in to the glacial lake and astronomical observatory atTekapo, inland route to Wanaka and land at Queenstown. I'm not sure the ferry range on this thing when nap-of-the-earth but I intend to find out. If there's any JP5 left then over to the spectacular Milford Sound and back to Queenstown for beer and roast lamb and kumara. Many years ago as a starting pilot chatting to an RNZAF A-4 strike pilot he said he liked to cross ridgelines at 12 feet, especially if there were trampers (trekkers) nearby. That goes on the simulated TODO list too :) One camera angle you may like to try Chris is near the tail looking obliquely past the nose toward the ground - to me this gives the best impression of groundspeed, it works in DCS and hopefully may give a nice short clip in MSFS.

    The most underrated mil jet on the marketplace. The checklist is over the top detailed. The MFDs are top notch, and hopefully they continue to add the missing features they mention in the user manual.
    When it comes to what I buy it all about the cockpit. Don’t care if it’s a brick on the outside. If everything mostly works inside and mimics the real like thing. It’s good to me.
    It’s my go to mil jet. Because of the way it functions inside. Easy enough to understand. And I can activate a few failures if I want to play.
    Also worth noting as far as I’m aware, one of the only planes of Marketplace with sidewinders.. I mean smokewinders.. that can be equipped with correct weights and activated with a external light.
    Nothing I’ve hated for months it’s been a amazing lil bird. Even took a road trip (yes on road) in Italy with it. (sight seeing)

    I picked this aircraft up. It's very well done, IMHO. This video, and others you've made really helped me get started. My first flight was right here, but I got lost part way through the Mach Loop because I am unfamiliar with exactly where to go. I'll figure it out. Then, off to my home country, CYMJ specifically, an air force base where it's nice and flat, to practice landing and figure out the systems. That way I could avoid flying into a hill while I fiddled with the MFDs. I'd say this is one of the best third party aircraft that I have picked up, not that I have many.

The correct pronunciation of the "Mach" in Mach Loop is not Mack but Mach ( as though you're gathering spit at the back of your mouth. Sorry for the late reply, have been on holiday. I'd say if you flew the hawk to the numbers then the Hawk is easier to handle and won't bite you in the ass like this one. I have this, and love it. I haven't tamed it yet but it IS getting better! I continue to suffer with the HUD, after many years of Select Adjust and Trim, check adjust and Trim, I find the absence of a "bird" in the HUD difficult, the bird disappearing when the gear and flaps are up, and reappearing on the approach. I would wish for the bird to be permanent. I have just watched you Mach 1 Mach loop in the F15 and the bird is there all the time. I am finding that bringing the Standby horizon into the scan helps, but can't help but feel this is not the right way to do it. Yup, massively overpowered - suits the hooligan in all of us.... comment?

    • @cgaviator

      HUDs can be difficult to read, especially facing towards the sun or something bright. Presume you’ve tried adjusting brightness if the option exists? By bird you mean the whisky line disappears! I do find that strange, but it’s workable as the flight path marker tells you when you’re level.

    • @fuzzywun
      @fuzzywun Рік тому

      @@cgaviator Thanks, at least I know it's not just me who finds the bright sun/HUD difficult. No, by bird I mean the aeroplans shape "W," the waterline stays intact. I guess just have to get used to flying the Flight Path Vector (At least that's what we called it on The Airbus.) The Flight Path Marker (as you call it) is great when stable, especially Straight and Level, but maneuvering is another matter. You must realise that as a bad workman I am allowed , even required, to blame my tools. I finally tamed the Hawk by flying it like an Airbus i.e. in auto trim, but the 346 behaves completely differently and in any case seems to have a much better trim algorithm. (HUD brightness in the 346 is controlled by a rotary knob on right side of UFD, but not activated.) You can do it in the world map view. And you can also import plans from 3rd party apps like little nav map etc.

      Good question! I would ask you, do you prefer GPS, autopilot, digital screens and higher performance? Or old school, map and stop watch simplicity? That said, the Hawk does need a bit of updating and work on the trim and stability.
