I hope one of these days you do a video review of the Player One OAG. It's so hard to find reviews on so much of their equipment, which is ashame because they build to such incredible quality.
Video was good and image turned out great especially since you were dealing with the moon and LP. You Brits are the most enthusiastic astronomers for the typical weather you have to deal with. I mean that as a big compliment. I get upset if I have a week of clouds 😁. Thanks Luke and keep them coming.
Thanks so much Mike! :-D I certainly take that as a great compliment my friend! Hopefully spring and summer will treat us better in the UK, it's been a long, dreary winter & early spring! Clear skies to you mate!
Glad you had some clear nights! Been cloudy here around Dallas for weeks! Love how Player One is really coming out swinging with their products. That OAG looks really tempting and that is a very awesome Geralt background!
Hey Luke! it's great to see the roof roll back for some imaging, and I'm glad everything went smoothly with the new guide system. Looks like you had a good night despite the Moon. If it's the same night as I'm thinking I just decided to look at the Moon that night. Admitted defeat :D Thanks for sharing!
Hey Chris! Hope you're keeping well mate :-D Had a lot of fun trying out the new gear, looking forwards to the next session now! Hope you had a lovely observation session, that's a wonderful way to spend the night - 100%! Thanks for watching bud, as always!
Great vid as always mate, glad you managed to get out. I also got out for the first time since the 13th of Feb 😮, I only know that because the date on my hand controller 😂. Beautiful image to finish on regardless of the conditions 🌌 here’s to more clear skies.
Thanks so much Will mate! - It's been so crap here lately hey! Really hope the weather is taking a turn for the better now lol, I'm fed up of clouds! I appreciate you watching mate, as always! :-D
Nice one Luke. I use the ZWO OAG-L which has a nice big prism. Together with the ASI174MM mini as my guide cam, I can always find plenty of guide stars to choose from, even with my Edge HD (which has a 2350mm focal length). I’d def recommend longer guide exposure than 1sec tho. I find 2.5 sec works nicely. Love your videos!
Thank goodness you got some clear skies, I've never known a winter and early spring like this, awful for visual and photography. Excellent image with new gear, keep em coming my friend.
Thanks for watching Peter!! It's been unreal so far this season, I've never seen anything like it either mate! Hope it clears for us all soon, cheers again mate!
Happy you got some clear skies! Looks like your setup worked great for capturing a very nice image of M51! You just proved that you can still get great results even with the moon present without fancy LP filters! All of our post processing software works great to fix all that! Clear skies!
Thanks so much Dave! - Definitely agree that software saved the day here haha, it was still a PITA to process but nevertheless I got there in the end! :-) A few years ago it'd have been unworkable! Clear skies my friend :-D
Yep we had 2 full nights here in the NW, ive only just caught up on sleep - please send more this way sir luke.. 🤺 End image was still awesome, even with the hassle caused by Moon glow.
Haha! Clear nights are like buses it seems :-D Hope we get plenty more soon! (just without any moon would be nice for a change lol) Thanks for watching mate!
Hi Luke, I'm really impressed with all of the player one kit. Maybe would have been good to see a close up of the guiding numbers from the oag. I went down the asi air route 3 years ago which I don't regret but the downside is you're tied into just the zwo system. I reckon if that wasn't the case I'd be looking seriously at all the player one gear....it looks excellent quality. I also imaged M51 over two nights this week. Dusted down and collimated my old newtonian and despite the moon I'm happy with my image.....incredible advances in processing software this last couple of years means there's still a chance of a decent image despite challenging conditions. Excellent video again Luke 👏

Hey mate! - I do use it sometimes, often I use guidescopes more though as I swap cameras around a lot! It's still a great piece of kit, especially for a more permanent setup :-)
Thanks mate! - Sampling rate and atmosphere really! My Esprit setup here was pretty comfortably sampled and the air was steady, hence good HFR :-D Hope that helps explain it my friend!
Hi Luke great videos as always ,i have the same camera ,i noticed you had the gain and the offset at 200,was this intentional,i normally use 126 and 20..keep up the great work....

@@ninjageezer6802 sorry about the late reply mate!! It worked out really well, I'm probably going to use it as my new default, I think the offset is perhaps a little low by default 👍
Hey Mark! :-D Good eye mate, - I don't believe it's a distance issue in this case, I think it's off-axis aberration due to the OAG prism being placed outside the fully corrected image image circle of my Esprit & Reducer! (hence the elongated stars) Cheers for the feedback! Clear skies :-)
@@lukomatico, I have been fighting elongated stars in the guider for a long time. Skywatcher 10" 1200mm. Image train- TS-optics corrector->TS-optics OAG->SXCCD-Filter wheel->Zwo 294mm pro. No matter what I did I could not get pinpoint stars in the main camera and the guidecam stars were unusable. Last week I added a 7mm spacer between the filterwheel and the OAG. Now the stars are almost pinpoint in the guider and in the main camera it looks soooo much better. Now I just need to adjust the distance on the corrector itself so the stars are pinpoint on both cameras. The image train distance will then be more than 60mm 🤨
@@lukomatico I hope too. I measure seeing by autofocusing in SharpCap. As soon as I saw 3.5 pixel x 1.2” (image scale) = 4.2”, my eyes popped out. I have never had above 3”. Usually, it is about 1.5-2.2”.

It's still a great piece of kit, especially for a more permanent setup :-)
NIce image! BUt how could u get that HFR??=)) i rarely get 3.5 or so. Does it depend on your resolution?
Thanks mate! - Sampling rate and atmosphere really! My Esprit setup here was pretty comfortably sampled and the air was steady, hence good HFR :-D
Hope that helps explain it my friend!
@@lukomatico yeah, i understand!! Thanks a lot mate!
Have you had a chance to check playerone Artemis M or C cameras. planning of buying one.
Hey mate! I hopefully will get the opportunity to test one soon! :-D
@@lukomatico thanks. Will wait for your review to purchase as it’s a new sensor I could not find any from any other manufacturer.👍
Hi Luke great videos as always ,i have the same camera ,i noticed you had the gain and the offset at 200,was this intentional,i normally use 126 and 20..keep up the great work....
Thanks mate!! The gain was intentionally set higher yeah! Just experimenting with it really, particularly with the higher offset value. Hope that helps!! :-)
@@lukomatico thanks luke did you find it helped at all ?
@@lukomatico how did the 200 gain and 200 offset work out luke ?
@@ninjageezer6802 sorry about the late reply mate!! It worked out really well, I'm probably going to use it as my new default, I think the offset is perhaps a little low by default 👍
Guidecam vs main cam distance needs some tweaking. Hmmm, I see non pinpoint stars in the guider.
Hey Mark! :-D Good eye mate, - I don't believe it's a distance issue in this case, I think it's off-axis aberration due to the OAG prism being placed outside the fully corrected image image circle of my Esprit & Reducer! (hence the elongated stars)
Cheers for the feedback!
This year had unusually crappy weather here. 3 nights in whole March. April is still totally blank. Seeing is as bad as 4”. Zzzzzz😤
Damn! That's bad seeing haha, hope it clears up for you soon my friend! :-)
@@lukomatico I hope too. I measure seeing by autofocusing in SharpCap. As soon as I saw 3.5 pixel x 1.2” (image scale) = 4.2”, my eyes popped out. I have never had above 3”. Usually, it is about 1.5-2.2”.
Hey . dont worry about long videos , we could always fast forward them, I happen to like a thorough talking to
I appreciate the feedback Steve, that's good to know my friend! :-) Clear skies to ya!
First clear night for ages and a nearly full moon. What’s not to like 😨
Thanks Tom!! - It felt pretty alien to be actually setting up for a session to be honest haha! Hope it's the start of a good turn in weather, fingers crossed! :-D
Ehi pay some respect on us without even a real scope.
I'll do my best mate haha! :-D
