- In this episode of "What Is On My Wrist" Cam discusses another Rolex Big Crown Submariner AKA the James Bond Submariner. This specific example retains what is commonly referred to as a "4 Line" dial. Outside of being a beautiful example of a Rolex Submariner 6538 overall, this specific example displays a 4 line dial which also sets it apart from other 6538's within the same production period. The 4 lines of text located just above the 6 o'clock position the dial include the standard model name and depth rating but also includes the text "Officially Certified Chronometer" aka OCC making this example even more special. The Rolex Submariner Reference 6538 is an icon and a legend. The Rolex Submariner is the purest representation of the diver's tool watch, period. Nicknamed by the watch collector aficionado community the "Big Crown" The Rolex Submariner 6538 has a special place in Rolex and watch collecting history as it the original James Bond Submariner. Of course, other Submariner references including the 5508 and 6205 have been given the nickname "Bond Sub", but the Submariner ref. 6538 is the original Submariner that was worn by Sean Connery in the early 007 James Bond films.

Bond wore a 2 line which was a version 2 of the 6538 line of watches. The 2 line was produced with the depth rating in either gold, red or white and the one Bond wore is thought to be gold. Bonds version was also a no hatch, silver triangle insert.
There are plenty of pictures for reference of this.
I own one these watches was left to me by my dad when I was 3 year old
An absolutely stunning watch, one of my ultimate grails. So glad to have you back on the channel Cam ❤️ , you guys are absolutely crushing it!

For the money the BB58 is an awesome watch.
100% agree!!
Really appreciate the high level content you consistently put out. Thank you!
He is dead on about the Tudor BB58. This kid has great taste
Interesting piece. Regards.
What was the original power reserve on the 1030 movement?
The original power reserve was 48 hours! However we would specify between 40-48 hours given that the watch is vintage!
Hi, looking for a suggestion between a 6538 with a replaced dial otherwise in good condition and a 5513 that is a underline and white Swiss. Thank you!
Great stuff Cam👏🏻 love vintage Rolex!
Thanks Jimmy!
Having a 5510 and 6538 (and briefly holding a red depth version) myself, it looks to me that the case edges are just too sizeable/sharp - perhaps a 'sympathetic' l/weld I'm thinking tbh. Dial looks great and the orig. white s/h is spot on/cool.
you should do a video explaining hz/beat rates & magnetic gauss ratings.
Nice signet ring
Not sure if Sean Connery wore a four-line in other movies, but he definitely had a two-line in doctor No.
Two liner in goldfinger . I’ve yet to see a four liner , red triangle big crown in Thunderball also . Feels like a myth to me the four liner in any Connery bond film
Félicitations pour tes vidéos j adore merci 🤗🤗🤗
I thought Connery wore a 2 line 6538 in the Bond movies, as famously shown on the close up in Goldfinger. Either way, great review and really happy you show it with the BB58, the spiritual successor of the big crown Sub!
He did and he borrowed it from the wealthy producer/director for the film and fell for it big time. In fact it was either a 6538A /6538 or a 5510 with two lines (the later white not red depth rating btw) and a non 15 min hatch with silver triangle insert and non lollipop second hand.
@@TuRo-Maseratidefinitely had a lollipop second hand in Goldfinger or did you mean a non white stick lollipop hand ?
Another great informative video with a stunning Submariner. Have you thought about doing a video about the different luminous material Rolex have used & how they take on different patina.
Stunning watch ! Do you know if the owner actually wears it ? Or does it stay in a safe 100% of the time ?
Many thanks for all your work and detailed information !
I just want to hold one of these and wind the crown...
What a beautiful watch!!
Most interesting Sub seen this year. 🙏🏻
What about the Submariner 6536/1, also considered the james bond, with the red triangle too, almost identical, with or without the tropical gilt.. you didn't mention it :) Great vid btw
It's so amazing

Those stretch rivet bracelets are hair rippers. If you have arm hair it’s gunna be yanking on them all the time.
