The power of positivity in you words is in itself enough to convince even the most severe sensorimotor case to feel inspired to recover!! Thank you so much for this amazing video!

This was a fantastic video and even though it is ROCD which I am dealing with. The level of pain and anxiety that you pushed through and had to endure I can resonate with. You're amazing!

You have gone through so much paul!very amazed to see such a tremendous recovery from that misery..hats off to you man!
I was having a question especially with breathing ocd i
Usually notice it during exhalation i feel like i can't exhale properly :its like i am noticing the depth of exhalation,it feels like i am suffocating,i am breathing through my lungs with some heavy pressure on and associating them with the fears like i will probably cause some problem to myself by breathing like this way..even sometimes i feel hyperventilation..and some chest pain also..
Do you mean i have to move with this discomfort cause sometimes i really feel like i will faint from this..
I will be pleased if you can answer this!!

Excellent video - agree that sensory motor is fear of fear (that I will be like this for the rest of my life) / when anxiety comes up, take time to work on 3-5 IRs and sit in discomfort

The focusing on breathing is exactly what got me. Be careful with breathing exercises guys. It’s best not to notice your breath at all. It’s been very hard to not try to control my breathing ALL THE TIME, but I’m making lots of progress. Breathing and heart ocd, not fun. Have to let go and move into the discomfort.

the problem is that not noticing your breath at all is not really realistic. Breathing exercises as triggers i believe that.. But some sort of breathing exercises (when you are in deep shhhit already) can actually be fine even deliver a big step in your recovery. Cause as long as you actually "rambo" through them until the mind lets loose, you learn.
What do you learn.? You learn that your mind is actually capable of not getting stuck on the obsession and this really strikes at the heart of the obsession since we think that focusing on the breathing will keep us stuck there forever.. It wont! its the opposite actually. But you will only see if you do what you are scared off. The problem is that nearly no one has the capacity to push through high anxiety they always turn back. thats the essence of this disorder. always turning back.
throwing any confrontational type of exercise in the dumpster and just maintaining a low compulsive profile works fine too though👍👍. but theres no point in hiding from your breath, this is typical OCD behavior leading to compulsive behavior to distract and forget something that you cant forget. its a big paradox cause you know what your hiding for so you cant forget it either.

I can't believe i missed this video. I cried a little bit at the end (20:00) when you talked about not caring and choosing to live your life. Thank you so much for this. However, I'm still a little bit confused with what to do when you feel the sensations (breathing/blinking/swallowing). A lot has told me (outside OCD Recovery) to try your best to resist them. To not control your sensations. (Their words: Observe your sensations from an outside perspective) When I do this, though, it just makes me more anxious. I would love to know what you did when you encounter these sensations. How do you let it pass? Do you control them? Or do you resist controlling them. Thank you for your answer, if ever, in advance! :)

bottom line just be anxious and uncomfortable until it passes considerably. its not that important 'how' just that you get through to the other side without help, so no compulsions. Its probably just basic neurochemistry why this works. liken it to sitting in a tiger cage for days and tiger not eating you or sitting in the dark and nothing happens to you.. you change the relationship you have with the fears in your mind.
with sensori ocd people have the tendency to get out of the cage or flip the proverbial light switch before they can ever have a positive change and they use their compulsions to do that.

This sounds very much like what I’m experiencing. I have a mix of panic syndrome and sensorimotor ocd focusing on fear of feelings of anxiety in the belly and heartbeat and fear of getting panic attacks. Never heard anyone who experienced something similar with more of a mix of panic syndrome and sensorimotor ocd

dude, we are one in the same. i had horrific sensorimotor OCD after some few panic attacks from smoking and edibles. and i ALSO transitioned to health anxiety, compulsively
doing breathing excercises, spent like 3000 on different supplements and adaptogens. ive done ketamine treatments, ive been hospitalized overnight, ive had a stelate
ganglion block, ive self medicated with ketamine, and mushrooms with slight relief. but i still cant get rid of this feeling that persists 24 7

What if your mind imagines the terrible feeling of getting a splinter in your finger from a smooth piece of wood.. like that unexpected sliver that comes out of nowhere. It's such an uncomfortable thought because it also comes with the feeling of actually getting a sliver! Everyone hates that feeling, so how can you expect yourself to not let it bother you and not react, when it gives you the shivers and makes you cringe.
    Asking for my brother
Any help? He does ERP but it doesn't work for this one because like I said, this sensation would bother anyone. Same as nails on a chalkboard, you can't use ERP to "accept" it and not respond, most ppl would cover their ears or leave the room. How do you get rid of these intrusive thoughts that come with the imagined feeling as well

Hey User - Yes, so exposures for these types of fears won't be enough and when we tell ourselves "Everyone would have that" it ends up being reassurance for us. You'll want to make sure he's watching our other videos on sensorimotor because it's stemming from strong beliefs "This is SOOOO horrible!" - This will need to change to a preference.

      @@aguywhohikes1271 Thank you
I can see what you mean, but he says it would be nobody's preference. So he would be lying to himself by saying it isn't a horrible thought and especially the feeling that comes with it, it's like a normal reflex to dislike it.
Where other people purposely get those thoughts out of their heads because it gives them chills or makes them uncomfortable, his mind won't do that because of the OCD, he gets stuck.

I struggle with purposely triggering my OCD when I’m anxious, with something that triggers me more or a different worry so I can feel anxious about something else
It for some reason helps me to move on about what i was freaking out before and helps me to understand what happened
But it keeps me in a constant loop and stuck.
I have harm OCD, and just don’t understand what im going through fully
If you know what I’m talking about, could you please make a video about it? It would be really helpful
