I expierenced ghost town in 1966 as a little boy, it took years to get the smile off my face, people today have no idea how great Maggie valley, Cherokee & pigeon forge was back at that time like most of the world at that time it was such a kinder more fun & the people was so respectful of each other, I really miss those days before our world became so divided so sad how commercialized this whole area has gotten, nothing like ghost town could ever exist again with Dollywoods arrival, dolly took full ownership of all entertainment nothing could compete now
When I was a kid, my family visited Ghost Town in the Sky. We rode the inclined railroad to the top and rode the chair lift back down. The wild west gunslinger show was great. In the saloon, the can-can ladies put on quite a show. It was fun times. Sad that it's all gone now.
I really appreciate you showing off your local area. It's nice how dedicated you are to putting out content. The sad story of Ghost Town in the Sky is a great reminder for us to support local and smaller businesses. I was actually surprised by the lack of graffiti on the remnants.
I remember goin to this place a few times as a kid in the early-mid 80s. Actually went toward the last few years of its prime to take my own kid and she loved it too. Ah , the memories. Also, I loved you in Blue Traveler, one of my fav bands from the past. Props. 😁👊
I so wish someone would open this back up. We always took our kids every year in the 90s. They loved it. We would stay all Day. Loved Ghost Town in The Sky❤❤
@@jamescamper722 It is, they should at least get what interior wood is worth saving in a few buildings and the only tonk piano out of the Silver Dollar Saloon before it gets ruined. The teller cages in the bank are authentic from a western ghost town and the undertaker carriage is authentic although they ruined the value of it when they refinished it.
Sure would love to see the Ghost Town park reopen! Reckon that it's just too bad that i don't have any money to invest in that happening. Thank you Carpetbagger for bringing us another piece of the lost beauty and entertaining attractions that were part of our past history. So much appreciate the work that you go through to allow us to see the beauty of the Americana that we have lost. You make it look so easy, but hopefully everyone that watches you knows how hard it must be.
I've seen some abandoned explorers that have gone through Ghost in the Sky and it is quite derelict. I can't imagine that much would be reusable anymore. So sad when you see places fall into disrepair like that. From the comments here, people really seemed to have enjoyed their time at the park when it was open.
Another great video, Jacob. I agree with you that it would be nice to see it reopen. It's a shame seeing places like that just rot away. Till the next safe travels my friend and take care .
Somebody Please reopen Ghost Town !!!!It is just a shame that it has just let go to ruin! This is kind of an iconic park. To go to when I was growing up.
The bike with the rifle outside Wheels Through Time is a WWII Harley WLA model. Hog is a nickname for Harley-Davidson motorcycles. It started when an early member of their racing team would bring his pet hog to the races.
Carpetbagger! My name is Chad Randle. I am in the North Georgia area. Cumming Georgia close to Lake Lanier. I wanted to send you a message a while ago. I wanted to say thank you for your awesome channel. I have been watching since almost the beginning of your journey. You are amazing! Great content all the time. You bust your ass making some of the best videos that is share with friends and family. You crack me up! I wanted to throw some positive to you because you deserve it! Thank you! I just watched this episode and I had not watched with your new camera which is amazing! It is so clear! It gives you better shots that gets surrounding areas that really immerse well. The HD on my tv blew me away looking at all those vintage motorcycles. I love you man! One of my favorites! And Jenny Penny…wonderful as well! Keep going man! I have much love for you and will be watching until the end of time! You know…it’s so hard to please people…but I think the negativity you experienced is everywhere. I think the world is in such a chaotic state that people complain about everything and enjoy trying to make others miserable. Keep going brother! I’d love to meet you one day!
My parents would take us to Ghost Town almost every summer when I was a kid in the early 70’s. On one trip we got to meet Kurt Russell, he was just a kid but I remember it well. I loved riding the chairlift up and down the mountain. They actually had someone that would put Ghost Town bumper stickers on the cars in the parking lot while people were up at the park.. great memories!
Nice video Jason, So being a frequent traveler to Maggie Valley and also the tail of the Dragon on my Harley. I had read that the Woman who owns the place. (Ghost Town) by the name of McClure is embroiled in a lawsuit against some other dude. The Lawyers will suck the life out of her I'm sure. It would be nice to see it back open. BTW the holders on the Army harley's are called scabbards, not holsters. These WLA models were used during WW 2 and the other models of trikes that you pointed out were used by delivery drivers they held among other things. Ice cream, milk etc.The USPS also used these for a short period of time.
If you want to ride in a sidecar, maybe next time you are at Islands of Adventure you can ride Hagrid's! The ride vehicles are a motorcycle and sidecar.
I always go to Maggie Valley before enjoying time on the Rez (Cherokee, N.C.). I have a friend who moved to MV a number of years ago and he and his family really enjoy it their. The "Wheels Through Time" museum is one of my favorite stops.
What a fascinating place!😘 I really love the motorcycle place and especially the road hog..funny! I am right along with you, no motorbike for me either! Although I had a dream I was on one and it was quite fun. Thanks for the ride again!
Wheels though time have there own UA-cam channel that dales son runs it’s an amazing channel if your into old bikes/anything with a motorcycle motor lol learn a lot listening to him
Great to see a recent video i was worried about you Jacob i couldn't find newer videos of your channel Always enjoy your channel stay safe cheers Stephen 🤠🦅⭐
Loving the new cam? Try turning down the vibrancy / saturation, ur colors pop a lil too much lol also make sure you’re rendering and the same as which you’re filming. I can see you’re going for 4k or hi res but the resolution keeps flickering. You’re making me want one of these. You asked for advice! Hope this dont seem snobby
The last time I went there with my younger daughter had to be in 1997.My Mom had died and I sold her place off Fie Top Rd behind GT.She lived near the Outer Banks so it was a long drive for her to get up to place and stay a few weeks with each visit.
If you Google "Traub Motorcycle" there is a great video about Mr. Traub. He built several prototypes before going to war, but likely the only one completed is the one on display. He was not killed at war. They found the bike in his old house, but it had an address change. He had a shop in his backyard. They are not sure if he bricked it up before he went to war or after returning, possibly changed by the war. Its worth watching. Love your video!
I enjoyed this video. I met Dale a couple of times at Barber’s Motorsports park just outside of Birmingham, Alabama. He was a very good guy. Speaking of which you should check out Barbers motorsports Museum next time you come through B”ham.
Hey Jacob I’m from Myrtle Beach South Carolina I wished I live closer to you so I could come with you to many theme parks with a lot of rides and haunted houses and roller coasters
i lived in waynsville back in 1985 and i went to gost town,, then my daughter was born.. in waynsvilleat the hospital there ,i think where you worked at....
I think it would be entertaining to see you riding in a Motorcycle Sidecar. All you need, would be to get someone to teach Jenn to drive the bike/ride for you. But as good as she was on the Mini Golf course, she probably already knows how !! I'd really like to know, what all Hidden Talents Jenn possess. Jacob, why don't you take her to an Ax Throwing range. I bet she knows how to throw a Hatchet or a Bowie knife. :~)
I think I was last there in 93 and it was the day Michael Landon passed, I had my Bulls Back to Back tobBack championship hat and coming down the chairlift above a storm. I remember Alaska getting mad you were recording and she got your name wrong didn't she?

Cowboy was such a nice man! I miss seeing him around town with his squirrel on his shoulder. ❤
When I was a kid, my family visited Ghost Town in the Sky. We rode the inclined railroad to the top and rode the chair lift back down. The wild west gunslinger show was great. In the saloon, the can-can ladies put on quite a show. It was fun times. Sad that it's all gone now.

I absolutely love Maggie Valley such a beautiful place 😊❤️
I have very fond memories of Maggie valley and Ghost town in the sky
I so wish someone would open this back up. We always took our kids every year in the 90s. They loved it. We would stay all Day. Loved Ghost Town in The Sky❤❤
It's probably too deteriorated to do much with by now.
They tried to reopen it but lost money

It's not over. I'm the son of the developer that is working it....don't worry it's coming
Hey Jacob, Roll On CaperBagger Roll On! Safe Travels Jacob.
I watch you nearly every day, to keep my sanity in this crazy world, thank you and Jenny

Wow I just was thinking the same. Looks great!

20:16 Albany, NY shout out on the capital riders banner. Need to come to the NYS museum.
I love these out of the way rural places.
They sure are neat
Hey Jacob!! Wow that breaks my heart!! Too bad no one bothered bringing it back, if I was a billionaire i would’ve bought it!
My son who lives in Asheville, took me to the motorcycle museum a few years ago.We also scoped out the Ghost Town facility.
Maggie Valley seems like a cool town. Looks like they know how to keep history around, hopefully they can revive Ghost Town.
Loving the pic of the new cam Carpetbagger.
Wow the video quality was great today the colours popped and the weave on your had looks way better I think the camera is a success.

Jacob, it’s okay to not ride a motorcycle ❤
Always a good vlog.
My mom and Dad went to Maggie Valley one year for their anniversary and they loved it there
Jacob boost your audio in the indoor clips in post op

Have a beautiful day, Jacob ❤️
You are my comfort UA-camr! Look forward to catching up with your videos, thank you for all that you do ❤
You should have grabbed that Sasquatch USDA sign for the bunker. *I* want that wooden Grim Reaper!

👏 Such a thoughtful and pleasant comment! You are awesome 😎 The internet needs more people like you 👍
Thanks Carpetbagger
I think the best case would be to rezone the chair lift station, tear down the chairlift, and then focus on the park proper
I never thought that quilts would be so controversial

Love Maggie Valley
When I was a youngster I met Hoss Cartwright, Dan Blocker of Bonanza fame at Ghost Town in the 1960’s. Memory etched in my aging mind.
As a kid I remember going to Ghost Town in the Sky in the early 60's.
I absolutely love Maggie Valley
You must have changed a setting or two, your image quality is great now Jacob.
Roaming around the the hills of North Carolina, my mom and her dad would do that when she was little and they would have the time of there lives 😂
Thank you jacob for all you do❤🎉
Ok so I don't know if it's just me, or you did something with the settings but that intro video..and everything else after...looked amazing!
New camera, it is much better now.

Yard Dinosaurs are in style
This reminds me of that lady who called Jacob's channel, "the vagabond."
Good to hear an update though
Hi Jacob 👋🏽. I'M watching pretty late. I know you had fun.

I think the motorcycle at the entrance is from WW2.
A farming way of life
Nice memories if Maggie Valley
Nice trip. Sad about ghost town! Good job today. New camera is great!
You may want to use your lapel mic. The sound quality isn't very good especially outside near the highway. This is a wonderful show.
I was there in the 70s. To a young boy that was the most awesome place on Earth
I love Maggie Valley! Would love to live there or Bryson City one day.
Dale was a good friend of my dads and a awesome guy.
Went there in the 80's and again in 1999. Was great the first time, run down the second

Thanks for making this video.I really enjoyed it.I sure do miss Ghost town in the sky.

I remember watching Dale on “Chasing Cars”, seemed like a great guy! The wall of death is quite the sight, those riders are quite skilled!
I love that wood carved dilophosaurus!
I enjoyed this video. I met Dale a couple of times at Barber’s Motorsports park just outside of Birmingham, Alabama. He was a very good guy. Speaking of which you should check out Barbers motorsports Museum next time you come through B”ham.
