- You have probably seen the videos of us walking through the Darien jungle. This is our story about everything that happened to us on that journey. All the planning that went into it, or lack of planning, and how we eventually met the cartel. Please watch our story.

Timmy was my favourite travel buddy of yours. A lot of genuine humility and a good personality. The other ones get on my nerves trying to make jokes all the time and act up for the camera, Timmy just seems to be himself.

I used to do this in my youth, not the Darian, videocameras was not as readily available as they are now, sadly, but this brings back memories

They are opposite of what any journalist would do. They are lucky that they didn't get Darwin award. There's zero journalist conduct in activities that they do. They often mindlessly and stupidly risk their lives for their ego, thrill and likes on YT. Sometimes putting other in danger.

I think being underprepared may have help you in your journey. If you had full equipment and supplies people would be suspicious and envious of you, but the fact you had basically nothing made you less of a target. If you had the nice tent and plenty of water, people in desperate times would definitively come after you or you would be a lucratic target for extortion. However, being just two healthy adult male with no belonginings made you two a hard group to deal and little return for the trouble.

In order to pass off as a desparate migrant, you need to look like one. Any expensive kit would have really stood out.
Dude they're lucky as fuck, cause that guy at the start of their journey was passing out the water purification tablets. They could have easily died from that alone, not bringing any.
Love Timmy because of his outgoing authentic spontaneus style, whilst simultaneously being extremely thoughtful and compassionate towards others. Amazing energy and funny too! You should go with him again!

I’ve just finished the series. It really did have everything. It was exhilarating, humorous, heart-warming, tragic. You’ve transformed the travel documentary genre. Thanks Bald and I can’t wait to see what you’re up to in the new year.
And yes, we want to see you travel with Timmy again! Hearing that Timmy was very talkative was funny. It made me think of a annoying little brother trailing behind you on your journey but as you mentioned, he was very willing to step up and help others. He genuinely seems like a good travel companion and friend.

Living that journey vicariously through my two favourite travel vloggers was an amazing experience! Really enjoyed the dynamic between both of them. This is peak travel vlogging in it's most extreme form, and I applaud the daringness and boldness to propose and finish a challenge like this. You guys are absolute legends for shedding light on what people endure to get to the USA through this route.

I am flabbergasted at how ill-prepared you guys were going into the jungle - especially given how much you both travel. Balls of steel without a doubt, but good lord a modicum of survival instinct in the future please haha
We all need sacrifices in order to learn of the environments around us. Whether it be human, or robots. I appreciate theirs.
If they had of went in prepared, they wouldn't be talking right now.
When I was watching the video my first thought was "I can't see it on film, but where is their food and water for 5 days since they can't drink the river water". My second thought was "I hope they have an extra pair of shoes". I'm surprised they survived! Thank God for that!
I think deep inside they intended to do just that. to actually experience more of the struggle that these immigrants go through.
Yes, please travel more with Mr. Timmy Karter. The fact that you guys are so different in personalities (which is probably the reason for why you might find things annoying about each other at times🤣) is what would make you a great duo. Timmy adds an extra interesting attitude and perspective to the experiences you make.

The dynamic you and Timmy have is great. You both have different personalities that mesh very well together, Id love to see him in future videos. To add to that, in watching your videos for as long as I have, and seeing you alone in many places, I think having a travel companion especially in harsh or dangerous places is safer. While I understand the solo experience provides a bit more of a rush or the mystery of learning about a new place and navigating it alone, I think having a travel companion, especially someone as charismatic and genuine as Timmy, would provide a better experience for you and the viewers. No one sees the world through the same lens and I think having him along for the journey would be an interesting two perspectives vs one. Anyway, sorry for that long comment but I really enjoy your videos, I hope you enjoy the upcoming holidays, and I look forward to more of your adventures. Hope one day our paths cross in person. I have enjoyed most of the other companions in their own way. But, at least on this trip, Timmy has been the best.

Bald I’ve been a fan forever, and I must say this was the most compelling series you have ever done. As a backpacker, I know how hard a trip can be and that is with a year’s prep and all of your buddies to help if you get hurt. So to do such a trip with no planning or supplies, in an area with no laws, is incredible. The fact that you both made it somewhat in one piece is mind blowing. It's because he is a known person, Bald made his name known to the world and he is not a nobody. Thats why he survived. He has better chances of surviving because he is famous basically.

@@VV-xw3te I dunno. If you've watched long enough you'll know that 75% of people he meets has no idea who he is. That's why when they ask why he's filming he says "It's for friends back home". That statement alone means he like to keep it covert.
I hope people realize how lucky Bald is in these situations. Cartel has killed off entire families/villages for far less. It's a roll of the die. I imagine the only reason he survives trips into territories like this is due to online documentation. Bald is part of a very select few when it comes to this stuff. It would bring too much heat. Don't attempt to do this. These documentaries are amazing, exciting, and sometimes make you dream of doing the same. DON'T. There's a reason why people risk their lives to cross the border.

While I do agree with you, keep in mind that deep in some jungle somewhere in the world, you can't expect those local cartel members to know who he is and recognize him. I don't think these locals actually knew who he was. I think that the Russian persona he pretended was a good idea.
im pretty sure he only survived being he is a western male. Way more ppl would be looking for him and trying to investigate his disappearance than they would with some poor forgotten south american. they probably didn't want to risk it

Their chemistry and personalities seemed like they’ve known each other for years! I have just finished watching this mini series and I have to say it was entertaining, interesting and thought-provoking. At first I was a little shocked that Timmy was joining in on the trip, a collab I wasn't expecting but a very pleasant one for sure, he's a good dude and I like his content on UA-cam as well. Throughout the videos I was completely taken by surprise at the lengths both Ben and Timmy were willing to take (albeit with a lack of planning and preparation on their part lol) to complete the journey and experiencing the same harshness of the Darien jungle that those immigrants were going to go through. At other points as well I was getting worried and a little anxious about the nonchalant-ness with recording and talking in places you probably shouldn't of but I'm just glad nothing bad happened to you both. You both have good energy and I think some of the others around you liked your company too, obviously not everyone but it's to be expected in that kind of environment.
Thank you Ben and Timmy for this journey! It shared the brutal nature of the Darian jungle and the struggles of those migrants risking everything for a better life, even their families and their own lives. It deserves recognition for a great documentary 100%! Not many UA-camrs or travel docs follow this kind of doing things and I can't speak for your entire audience only for myself, I applaud you both for your work and your determination. As a Greek I’m singularly impressed by this feat by my fellow countryman. It was a dangerous trip, maybe one of the most dangerous somebody can make, and he got through it, together with Bald. You two deserve some kind of medal and recognition. I will try and make people in Greece aware of that story.

its not that impressive, my grandfather had to cross the darien, up hill both ways, in winter to get to and from school.

I think their lack of preparation actually helped them. If they would have showed up with expensive kit and everything they needed and more they would have stuck out. Struggling just as much as the others made their story believable.
