Since the Playstation 4 version runs on a built-in PS2 emulator. You can also consider this video to be "GTA Vice City PC VS PS4". However there might be some minor differences, since we don't know which PS2 game revision is stored inside.

No. I have to complain. The newspaper on the ground. On ps2 they also reused the gta3 ones. But after the plane mission where you put the flyer over the city, they change to the other ones. And i have the earliest gta vc ps2 version from europe. :)
Also the love fist stretch first appears after the love fist missions. On pc its strangly always there.
I remember in my ps2 copy, the first song you would listen when you get in a car was billie jean by Michael jackson. Good times.

Ah Vice City, I loved that game so much! I can't go back and play it though, some games make you feel nostalgic. But playing this makes me sad, remembering a happier time :(

I might know the reason why PS2 hud is little more to the left, because some TVs have the wrong size or stuff so it would block half of the map

Yeah, a lot of CRT televisions had some pretty gnarly overscan in the corners. I used to have issues with subtitles in certain games / movies spilling into the corners. They were smart just playing it safe on that.
I owned the original PlayStation 2 version and the motion blur made the graphics nostalgic to the 80s. They should keep that feature intact for the PC version.

They still have that on pc but as default its turned off to turn it on you just go to the settings and there is motion blur aka "trails"

One PS4 improvement are the character shadows in the cutscenes. The characters have realistic shadows in cutscenes like on all other platforms too but they are looking more like the shadows of the remastered version of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, that's all what I know about the PS4 version, I just know that the PS4 version of Vice City is finally uncut.

Hey Vadim, I found some interesting files in the skins folder of the mobile version of Vice City. There are two more unused files. I'll copy them to my PC and try them out
you forgot to mention that in the PC version you can free aim with all the weapons. Console ones cant, they have a target system.

Yeah I remember my cousin showing me where the teargas was (Police Station) on PS2 VC and I was pretty confused because on PC there was just a grenade.
I just remembered a fucking 12 or more years old random conversation...

There's an another difference between the two, when the car shifts in the PS2 it shifts normally in between 1-2 seconds while in the PC version it does it in 0 seconds or shifts to the next gear instantly while sliding or jumping.
Ps2 version is more realistic
PS2 is better overall because of the gun models being more realistic.

Something I noticed in PS2 version in that as GTA SA PS2 edition, Vice City also had a pinky tint within the ambiance.
I unfortunately have the lame ass Haitian Friendly version because I kind of started playing the game. So now Umberto Robina and Auntie Poulet can't even say the words Cuban or Haitian. And even Billie Jean was cut out from Flash FM for some reason.

I just bought it on steam because it was on sale and I always wanted to play vice city but the pc controls can be complicated like holding down two keys or the aim crosshairs being off

i know this old but the ps2 also had a better atmosphere were the pc version the sky would just turn plain blue in the day and black and night. the ps2 version had a orange sunrise with a purply pink sky and a purple and golden at night. much better in my opinion and even re-used on the android and ios version of vice city

i have both versions of the double pack on ps2. the original double pack on ps2 which isn't haitian cuban friendly still has the tear gas.
I still have the one of the first versions .. Where the Ruger rifle is still wooden and all other weapons are unchanged too .. Looks much better ^^
my brothers brought the original ps2 version on the day it was released and I still remember it like yesterday, I've played it myself and that version will forever be the best version of vice city. I used to wonder why the weapons look different than the pc version and now I know why, the spas 12 just looks beautiful as opposed to that ugly pc version the same can be said for the redesigned weapons.

Damn, m4 on PC looks like shit.
Some weapons are slightly darker and shadow in PC but in PS2 its slightly lighter like GTA SA
I think the PS4 version is a later revision. The CB radio is distorted whenever you're inside an emergency vehicle.
Holy Shit! Ive been playing different versions of this game for more than a decade and never noticed the weapons besides the kreuger looked slightly different in version 1 ps2 versus the others!
Extra: The loading screens on the PS2 version have higher quality than the ones found in the PC files

One sad change as well, the PC version removed 18 songs on the radio, not sure if its really 18

why would play updated downgrade version?
I have the platinum version for ps2 so most things that aren't in the original ps2 release are actually there, but there's also a few things that aren't like the pc release.
These small differences make games interesting but also annoying.
I've check to see if the Xbox Original version is PS2 or Pc port and Its vary similar to Pc port. Vice city on Xbox its missing effects however it is slightly better than PC port.
Why did they remove Tear Gas from PC? This change makes no logical sense.
Fun fact: The Colt .45 can only hold 8 bullets in real life unlike the 17 in Vice City.

i only tried the 1.7.0 version with Software mode and it runs ok , i have to try the other adapters
I actually own the original version that isn't Haitian friendly. The same copy I had years ago. The cutscenes of the Haitian hate still has me on the floor laughing.
i actually think the haition friendly version is pretty rare. i have never seen it anywhere. (which is propably good)

It wasn't rare in 2002. Believe it or not it wasn't mine at first it was my brothers I wasn't even born yet when Vice City came out. My brother had it then passed it down to me when he got an Xbox 360. It has the original cutscenes on it. Which again still has me on the floor laughing.

They are working on gta 6 now in 2019, they have been for 5 years now, but I hope for this they create something that blows even cyberpunk and rdr2 out of the water in open world size and detail

I noticed on the Original Xbox Version, its called WK Chariot Hotel rather than Vice Point Langer but the texture bug is fixed.

Whenever I watch these comparison videos, it always turns out that no matter how "remastered", "anniversary" or otherwise improved these 3d era GTA games are supposed to be, your best bet are still the original PS2 games. Play them on an emulator with resolution upped a notch and you are good to go. Most complete, all details intact, best atmosphere etc. Is it that the PS2 was a native platform for Rockstar when they were making these games?
No, just use some mods and get everything on the PC with fixes from silent patch, it's miles better than using emulators.
Modders have more or less restored the PS2 effects in all the games. Skygfx alone replicates the PS2 visuals of San Andreas with some tweaking. GTA 3 and VC got better car models, and screen effects like rain and blood splashing with the Xbox port which can be restored.

That version was the double pack version, but it had stuff from the original version untouched

I got a new version (ps2)
And I think its the original version but it crashes
After a while and if you switch to flash fm it gets stuck loading
I ordered a new copy yesterday I really hope its not the Haitian-friendly one

can anyone tell me if have a way to identify the early version with the tear gas, Lionel Ritchie's song and etc of the game for PS2 only looking at the cover box? if have any difference between the 1st and haitian-friendly version in the box or in the label of the disc?

+djmhyde The greatest hits version was a Haitian-Friendly version, if you have the copy of Vice City in a black box, it's the original version version where all Haitian and Cuban lines were uncensored and the pornstar in the cutscene of the first Film Studio mission doesn't wear a bra.
Got a question, if rockstar takes more time on the PC version like they do, won’t the textures be better and fix glitches from PS2? Why are some textures worse on PC than on PS2
Its because they don't care about the game port on PC just look at how GTA San Andreas was also way better in the ps2 version

Is there anyway to tell what version of the game is by looking at the packaging if it is still sealed? I have a PC copy, but it would be nice to know if there's a way to tell the difference between each PC release as well as each PS2 and XBOX release.
Mason Fowlkes PC version is by default Haitian friendly I believe, or at least it's Double pack

2019 still I live this video.
rockstar ported this to very weak pc,s. so a random desktop could play it. glow from weapons and money are gone. but you can download missing pluggings to revive them. same with trails. which makes the game have that orange type of reflection on stuff. hard to explain. alot of missing textures in this game and rockstar dint even bother putting them there. but your better off getting the mobile version for that anyways. literally majority of the stuff you have to do is put into the vice city dictionary to revive it. except trails put that in the Mss file or it crashes the game
The PCs weren't mainstream at that time before 2013 and some games during the 6th generation didn't even get a PC port.
Elite GamingWolf trails aren't actually missing. They were turned off and hidden from within the settings menu but still in the game coding.
Pc gta vice city has some bugs: it crashes everytime -_- meanwhile the mobile version wont but I think both of them are just similar so, ps2 iz best

1:40 sometimes the swat truck(Enforcer) was parked there at the station in ps2 it is in psp all the time whenever i go take a police cruiser it always spawns there

Mobile is built from the PC/Haitian-friendly version.
The ps2 loading screens have been removed on PC since the game loads way faster
Even if you implement the loading screens in the game via modding it's pretty much useless, they will all go by so quickly
