The City of Wichita, if this is where the yard is, or whatever city, should be called and the poison Ivy reported as a Health concern. Especially the neighbors who border that house are in danger. They could go to the city meetings, report it to the news, etc to get action taken. Thank you for trying to help the neighborhoods out.
Do not blame you for not going into the back yard but the transformation you gave to the rest of the yard was amazing as always, keep up your brilliant work and always stay safe.
The ONLY way to get rid of poison ivy is to dig it up by the root. Then, place it all into bags and the it up. Do not leave it on the ground. It will grow back. Nothing else works. Period.

My neighbor, my husband and I took care of the yard between us for 10 years! Our neighbor bought the property last year. He is planning on demolishing the house, ruined by Harvey flooding. I don't understand how people in this neighborhood don't volunteer to care for the yard....at least for the pride of a good looking area. Looks great you do good work. Cute house don't understand why someone doesn't buy it.
I've often wondered what happened to the property owners and what the homes looked like on the inside. It looks like it must have been a lovely home at one time. Thanks Mr. Spencer, Keep up the good work!
From what I have heard in most cases there’s a death and the children just don’t want anything to do with their parents house. What’s crazy to me is that some of the abandoned houses still have electricity even after years and years of being abandoned
20 years like that? Wow. Obviously that city doesn't need much revenue: they could have been ticketing that house for 20 years. I don't understand why cities let properties go like that. Looks like a decent neighborhood. Great job, Spencer!!
I’m not sure why anyone that owns a n empty house and not maintains it should be allowed to get by with that. The city needs to keep track of the notes they put out. If it goes 6 months, they should be able to sell it off. Also, I wonder if you could report that backyard and someone would have to spray it at least.
I would think after 3 years of abandonment of property, the city could seize and sell the property. It would make a nice home for someone, potentially. So many homeless people and so much abandoned property. It appears to be a nice neighborhood.
@@ElaineWood-f2t, not if it is a health hazard to others. One dead tree in the front yard, a second half dead tree in the front yard, they could come down in a breeze at any time and if somebody happens to be walking by on the public sidewalk or a car or somebody is standing on the driveway right next store - POW. And the poison ivy is a definite health and safety hazard. That back yard could be a den for all kinds of nasty critters including rats, carriers of disease. I don't know where this city is, but most cities do have laws on the books that allow them to condemn nuisance properties and abandoned properties. It is not enough to just pay the property or real estate taxes due when the house poses a hazard to the community. The City Attorney could bring an action against whatever owners are of record, and if they cannot be located or are located and do not respond, the City could get a Judgment to seize the property, condemn it, tear it down and sell the lot, or try to sell the property "as is" through say a Habitat for Humanity program to a low income family that would then work with Habitat to fix the property up, live there, and maintain it. There are LOTS of things that could be done under the laws of most communities and/or state laws. This is just sheer neglect on the part of the municipality.

FIRST OFF KEEP UP THE VIDEOS! It’s nice to see someone who cares about others! Hi SB so I’m a 66 year young grandma who stumbled onto your you tube channel and I love it!! I’ve have loved cleaning up yards all my life and I rent a small house in Idaho that the yard and third of an acre with a regular lawn mower, (self propelled) it had not been cleaned up in probably 20 years so I moved in, mowed it and edged even the back Third acre. Here’s my question: I’d sure like to know more about your tools and that yellow lawn mower? I’ll keep doing yards for as long as I can cause it’s fun !! And if course the landlord is happy! I love that yellow lawn mower!! 😊 And what about your other tools? And yes I subscribed cause it exciting watching you take a property to a new look!!😊
Great work as always, Spencer! Poison ivy is no freaking joke! One spring, before the leaves sprouted, i decided to remove all these "vines" from my fence and the telephone pole in my yard. I was unaware that it was poison ivy... those vines were actually "bleeding" when i cut them! That night, it looked like i went 10 rounds with a pro boxer. one eye was swollen shut. my doctor said it was the worst case of poison ivy he had ever seen! took WEEKS to get rid of... That fall, i went full agent orange behind my shed. not a scrap of green to be found!
It looks 100% better. If I lived next door I would be mowing it when I mowed my own lawn, it's such a small yard it wouldn't take too much extra time to do it. I'd rather do that than look at an ugly overgrown lawn that is probably going to attract critters. lol
I love watching your videos. It satisfies me on so many levels. You're very methodical, thorough and you never complain. You're an amazing dude. I am so glad I found your channel.
So I'm curious does he pay to clean the neighbors property and cars and houses that the dirt and crap he blows everywhere. Just saying if you watch the videos you will see that the dirt and stuff gets on others property does he pay or clean it for them free cause if not that's technically property damage. If he did all that work and messed up my yard and property in the process I wouldn't care if he did it free,it's not my property however messing up other property is a red flag just saying. Cause you'll notice he's not blowing it towards his nice white truck he blows it back towards the houses.....not to mention he leaves it out after the cut so he kills the grass and plants by leaving the garage after a cut making the property look worse later.
The care you take to do a thorough job of clearing out this yard is inspirational. This was a big job, but if could all just do even a small thing during each day to make our corner of the world a little nicer, kinder, or better somehow- what a difference that would make!
The one question that pops into my mind most times watching these, especially the super over grown ones, how do you handle critters? Like, Things gotta be in that mess, right? Does like the edging and blowing first kinda frighten things out? Ever find any bees/wasps/snakes etc? Do you kinda do walk throughs before you start and look for stuff like that or just start choppin? thanks for the content man. Be safe.
It doesn't look that bad on the outside, for being abandoned so long. It must be a complete disaster on the inside for whatever person or bank that owns it to not even try to sell it.
Spencer you do such tremendous work! People love the word ( FREE ) thank you for all you do for those in need of help and keeping neighborhoods looking great... God bless ! 😊❤
Another great job Spencer. Two things, you could really use a pole saw attachment for your stihl, would be much easier to reach those limbs up higher. Secondly, it's probably not practical, but using a grass catcher on jobs like this one would really be the topper to the mow. I know you have one for your hustler. With all that laying on top of the grass, it will brown and be an eye sore, but still better than it was. I can understand why the neighbors couldn't mow it before you arrived, because my mower can't mow 5' tall grass/weeds either, but now that you have got it under control, they should at least two to three times a cutting season, get a couple of willing neighbors to pitch in and help keep it somewhat good. They can't expect realistically that the town/city is going to put any kind of priority on doing it. It would be a good opportunity for neighbors to get together, knock out a small project, and possibly have a cookout afterwards to celebrate.
You, sir, epitomize the very nature of a good samaritan. Your patience and perceverance is truly awe inspiring. If i lived next door to a lot like this it would make my skin crawl and i would not be able to rest until it was cleaned up, which makes it interesting that the standard answer from neighbors is "i called the city..." The world needs more people like you, Spencer!

Hey Spencer you are a great person for helping people in need. And cleaning up your town. I’ve been wondering for a while now why you don’t have a mulching kit on your lawnmower? Seems like it would clean up a lot better. I have one on mine and it works great.
Wow! That was a great transformation! I bet the neighbors throw a “that yard finally got cleaned up” party. The difference is shocking, and now looks like part of the neighborhood. You do awesomeness work, Spencer! Glad you didn’t even think about doing the backyard. It’s just not worth it. It needs a ton of weed killer. Take care of you! Looking forward to next Friday! ❤️
You are truly an asset to your community. Your dedication to beautification of your community needs to be acknowledged. I don’t understand why the registered owners are not penalized. In my city if the city has to step in the owner is billed and eventually a lien on the property and it’s taken over and sold. These houses get demolished. They are just places for squatters and drug dealers. It deters these kinds of people if the house looks taken care of. It’s sad the poison ivy is left to grow. I fully understand why he isn’t dealing with it.

I love your videos and the wonderful transformations. One thing I don't get is why some of these neighbors don't keep it up once it is mowed. I mean, they wouldn't have to do the exceptional job that you do, but at least they could keep it mowed. I lived in a neighborhood up until a few months ago where there were three abandoned homes next door and across the street. Another neighbor and I took it upon ourselves to keep the lawns mowed just to keep the neighborhood from looking so bad. If more people would take pride in their neighborhoods and take on these simple tasks, you wouldn't have near as much to do...oh, wait maybe that wouldn't be such a good idea for you! lol
I think it so nice that you help people out. Once you get it done, I hope the neighbors take a little bit of their time and keep it up. Neighbors should want the neighborhood look nice.
I love these videos, they calm my brain down to see order being restored, and honestly your probably does more to restore my faith in humanity. Keep being awesome!!
I would like to see you do a video on how to safely eradicate poison Ivy..like you encountered in this yard. I've seen you do a few yards and you've encountered this and had to stop from cleaning up that area of the yard..youve done a great job on the yard transformations.... especially for the elderly..thank you for the great work.
That’s a good thing he is doing… my issue is the neighbors leave next to it complain yet do nothing…. When the house next door to mine became empty and I didn’t like looking at it me and my son started mowing it when we mowed ours….. Shouldn’t complain if you intend to do nothing 🤷♂️
I was thinking the same thing.. it looks like a house that was loved at one time.. it must be a decent neighbourhood considering the house hasn't been trashed.
As much as your state collects for property taxes, you would think they would keep the empty houses cleaned. They used to have and maybe still do have a noxious weed department. That department sprays poison ivy and any other spreading weed. Your work makes this house appear as though someone lives there. Great work!
I was just going to ask about whether there are departments that spray for poison ivy. That seems as necessary as spraying for mosquitos in my area, which they have stopped doing. These are issues of health, including for someone if they were to mow. Maybe that was the problem. Maybe the city wanted someone to mow and they saw that poison ivy and said "I'm out."
Hi Spencer. I really don't blame you for not doing the backyard. Have you ever thought of a painters suit to do poison ivy? Just a thought there. Love your videos as well. Keep on mowing.
Wow!! Amazing job!! I hope someone will buy and flip that home. It’s a beautiful neighborhood and is such a shame that house was such an eyesore for everyone who lives near it.

Great job as always Spencer, you made the yard look beautiful and helps the neighborhood yards look nice also, keep up the good thing you're doing, love your videos
Such a cool thing you did for this abandoned home. I bet the neighbors were really pleased but it’s too bad the city rarely goes there to at least mow the lawn more often. I see a few other lawn care videos and no one wears a mask. You’re breathing in all that old dust from the dirt flying around and pollen. There’s dust mites and bacteria in all that dirt that flies all around and lands on your skin and clothes and shoes that can track it into your car and home, when mowing lawn and cutting off tree limbs and tall weeds. Please be careful and protect your skin and health. Thank you for an awesome job. 😁
Spencer, Wish there were more people like you in the world. Suggestion for the neighbors, get the neighbors together weekly/monthly to take care of the property, if they all work together it will increase their property value.
20 years?!? Doesn’t the city have “clean it or lien it” law? Do they even know who is responsible for this property anymore? Great job, Spencer. I’m sure the neighbors are very grateful.
The next door neighbor commented further up somewhere, asking if he could return and remove the poison ivy. No good deed goes unpunished, I guess, but I'm assuming they've never heard of him. Otherwise, they'd show more gratitude for his great work.
Seriously 🌟 awesome 👌job Sitting vacant that long? That The neighbor told you is concerning Gives me red flags to what's happened to the family or elderly owners 🤔 Has anyone ever checked if the House was even left or is the homeowner still in side and no has even cared???🥺 That's why I appreciate your channel Because someone once cared about that home! And yard... And I'm sure there smiling an thanking you" as we all do you cared enough about it...🥰🏡🙏🏼 God bless you 🙏🏼❤🙌♥Truly
I have a hard time believing that house has been vacant for 20 years, I think the neighbor is exaggerating because nature would have taken over by now, also the property taxes have been paid or the county would have foreclosed on it and sold at auction long before 20 years have passed. My guess is that the house is in legal limbo.
Another great makeover. I feel bad for homeowners that have to live next to homes like that. Hopefully someone will buy the home now. Great job again. I always look forward to fridays.
I wonder if it would be worth it to keep a 2 gal. sprayer of herbicide on hand for the poison ivy? I know it wouldn't make a difference on the day of filming but might help with halting growth.

this was my wife you interviewed and I just want to say thank you for cleaning this house up! it’s brought a lot of mosquitos to our yard and also rodents as well. if one day you are feeling up for it the backyard is needing some love too 🙏🏼
I’m curious if you’ve got someone from the city to call that’ll remove the health hazard poison ivy back there? Idk if Spencer said he’d consider it later if he brought hazmat, or if he flat out said it’s a no? Just curious if your city offers that service for abandoned homes?
Sounds like it needs a flamethrower.
Can you send me the address of the house? I would like to see if there is a way I could buy it.
Just tell your mayor or something every fucjing day. Some asshole could say he's trespassing or better yet you do it
It seems this guy cares more for your neighborhood than you do.

It's a shame that poison ivy has taken over the back, but what you were able to accomplish in the front was simply amazing. That neighborhood was blessed to have been visited by you!
I know you were really wanting to clean that backyard but I am so grateful you didn’t 🙏 Noticed the neighbor filming you, bet she was thrilled!! 👍💞. What a shame that sweet house is sitting empty, poison ivy and all 😢
I thought that was a neighbor too but I think it was his wife. Looked like her shirt had SB on it.
This was very satisfying for sure. Cutting down all the bushes and low hanging tree branches really opened up the space. Looks like an older home, but very cute. Great job Spencer!
As a former Lawn Care Kid growing up for my parents, I love this video and this sort of job. It's just so satisfying to bring Order out of Chaos and Tame the Mess.
Now, if only it was possible to do that in other areas of life... 🙄😒
Period.
I’m sure the neighbors could not find their house after this, or even believe their eyes! What an amazing transformation! 👏🏼

Good job! Let the city deal with that hazardous materials site in the back yard. That’s disgusting for those poor neighbors. 😡
Right. That is something you just point the weed b gone container at. LOL!

Just use vinegar. Combine 1 cup of salt and 1 gallon of vinegar in a pot and heat to dissolve the salt. Allow it to cool, then add 8 drops of liquid dish soap and put the mixture in a spray bottle.
You know, a goat can eat the poinson ivy and it doesn't make them itch or break out or affect their milk or stomach. It's just food for them. Tell the neighbors to get a goat and let it eat the lawn and poison ivy. "rent-a-goat" ?

My neighbor, my husband and I took care of the yard between us for 10 years! Our neighbor bought the property last year. He is planning on demolishing the house, ruined by Harvey flooding.
I don't understand how people in this neighborhood don't volunteer to care for the yard....at least for the pride of a good looking area.
Looks great you do good work.
Cute house don't understand why someone doesn't buy it.
I've often wondered what happened to the property owners and what the homes looked like on the inside.
It looks like it must have been a lovely home at one time.
Thanks Mr. Spencer,
Keep up the good work!
Sadly abandoned. Like many cities up in the Midwest and Great Lakes area . 🤷♂️
@@Hopeforus24 IF someone is paying property taxes on it, chances are that's all the city cares about.
Who are they gonna ticket? The non existant man?
Watching your videos relive stress, restore faith and rejuvenates neighborhoods. Thank you Spencer! 🙏🏼❤️

Here’s my question:
I’d sure like to know more about your tools and that yellow lawn mower?
XD
It looks 100% better. If I lived next door I would be mowing it when I mowed my own lawn, it's such a small yard it wouldn't take too much extra time to do it. I'd rather do that than look at an ugly overgrown lawn that is probably going to attract critters. lol
I love watching your videos. It satisfies me on so many levels. You're very methodical, thorough and you never complain. You're an amazing dude. I am so glad I found your channel.
Wow, thank you! Glad you enjoy it!
@@SBMowing You're welcome!
@@SBMowingwhat happens if you use roundup or something similar to kill poison ivy?
Totally agree
Love watching your videos keep doing what you do everyone have a wonderful blessed day
Thanks!
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
The care you take to do a thorough job of clearing out this yard is inspirational. This was a big job, but if could all just do even a small thing during each day to make our corner of the world a little nicer, kinder, or better somehow- what a difference that would make!
Spencer, keep a bee-keeper suit in your vehicle. That should protect you from the poison ivy. Keep up the good work.
The oils from the posion ivy could still get spencer, whe he takes off the beekeeper suit. Poor Spencer
Wont protect him from inhaling it as it gets mowed or weed whacked. Be careful

Nah, disposable white suit would be better, then he doesn't have to mess with cleaning the oils off the suit.
yup. It's a shame the back yard didn't get done. Who else will do it?
The one question that pops into my mind most times watching these, especially the super over grown ones, how do you handle critters? Like, Things gotta be in that mess, right? Does like the edging and blowing first kinda frighten things out? Ever find any bees/wasps/snakes etc? Do you kinda do walk throughs before you start and look for stuff like that or just start choppin? thanks for the content man. Be safe.
You did a great job on that yard and the cute little house looks happy again!
😂
You, sir, epitomize the very nature of a good samaritan. Your patience and perceverance is truly awe inspiring.
If i lived next door to a lot like this it would make my skin crawl and i would not be able to rest until it was cleaned up, which makes it interesting that the standard answer from neighbors is "i called the city..."

I thank God for your spirit of helping. I live in Chicago, and my husband is getting too old to cut our yard, which is large. He is suffering from back pains and sciatica. Can you tell me what edger and blower you use? I am trying to find something reasonable in price. We are on a fixed income.
Hey Spencer you are a great person for helping people in need. And cleaning up your town. I’ve been wondering for a while now why you don’t have a mulching kit on your lawnmower? Seems like it would clean up a lot better. I have one on mine and it works great.

I love your channel and the people you help. ❤️ Thank you for being someone that restores my faith in humanity as a whole.
WOW, what a transformation! Thank you for your contribution to the community!

Where is this located? I'd like to research why it's been vacant so long!
@@sonyacass2222 It's not in a good side of town.
The siding, the raketrim, the windows, the roof, the driveway... None of those scream "vacant for 20 years".
The paint on the house, door and trim don’t look like it has set empty fit 20 years. I don’t believe that.
You do a great job, Spencer! What would anybody do to get rid of that much poison ivy?
Amazing transformation! That overgrowth of poison ivy is dangerous & code enforcement needs to rectify. Spencer - well done!!!

A+ job! You created the best looking curb on the street, besides making the front lawn visible 🎉
Thank you!
That could be such a cute property if someone would just take care of it. Thanks for giving it some of its dignity back.😊❤

I have a hard time believing that house has been vacant for 20 years, I think the neighbor is exaggerating because nature would have taken over by now, also the property taxes have been paid or the county would have foreclosed on it and sold at auction long before 20 years have passed. My guess is that the house is in legal limbo.
