I'm not entirely sure Maeve left her girlfriend for Homelander cause she wanted him, it could be more a publicity thing by Vought, the fact that Homelander was used as a mascot for the "fly straight" anti-gay thing at the believe expo makes me think Vought forced her to appear straight and date homelander publicly, we've seen them force Starlight to wear the costume she wasn't comfortable with by threatening her career, wouldn't put it past them to force Maeve to be what they deem "presentable"

Rob for instance keeps on using V as an excuse for A-train's behaviour, as if that absolves him from the decisions he makes (I disagree). Homelander doesn't even get that "out" here.

Especially when we saw how long Compound V lasts for A Train and what it does to him. If Homelander used it often he would be so batshit crazy he'd probably destroy a city

Homelander is the Evil Superman we deserve. Seriously, you see the effect of him growing up in complete isolation from a normal life, raised as a test tube subject - contently devoid of empathy and as a huge narcissist with massive mommy issues, which is why it's so brilliant that all their manufactured sups had families or at least one parent. They just changed the parameters of their experiment, and while none of them are real good guys, the rest don't come of as complete psychopaths and were able to create actual emotional connections to other people.
It’s not CLEAR in this episode, but in a later episode we find out Homelander NEEDED A-train for something, that’s why he cut A-train a break, instead of killing him!

I could be wrong but I feel like Rob just wants to give the benefit of the doubt for the villains. Which isn’t a great idea in this show, but since y’all react to anime I totally understand. It’s not true for all anime or usually the main bad guy, but a lot of the early and side bad guys (or bad guys that turn good) have backstory’s that give some sympathy for them (I’m thinking like Tobi in Naruto).
The author of this show hates religion, which is how this episode came about.
I didn't think Jerry out of everyone would be the homophobe.
Imagine a sociopath with psychopathic tendencies, then give them the powers of Superman.
If you see later episodes, he was not born a sociopath but became one.
