Brings back old memories. 1994 Red sierra... still remember the first day me as a kid sitting in back seat while going to temple for pooja... 15 years .. drove 3 lakh kms... Twice repainted... 2nd time fitted with Turbo side arch and bumpers... for last 10 years the car was left to die... sold it to for 25k just a month back... Dropped the idea of restoration after so much thought process...
The mold for the front grill logo was manufactured by us.

This car belonged to our puthukkeril family (puthukkeril textiles) chengannur. Ive bought a Vespa T5 from them and that too was in its mint condition even though it need some minor replacements.
I actually lost all my interest in cars when I started looking at it financially - They just keep us poor
But you guys brought that interest back to me with a different perspective ( Engineers and Business case study )

Very true, cars are just getting humongously pricier. 5-10 years back, we could afford many good cars within 15 lakhs budget but now one have to shed around 25L for decent one.

My favourite among all the cars I owned. Owned both NA and Turbo . Best suspension in terms of ride comfort. Rear seats offered amazing legroom and visibility. Turbo engine was butter smooth … 100 kms per hour at below 2000 rpm . The first model had lot electrical gremlins which was rectified in the Turbo model . Covered 3 lakh kilometres between the two models . Thank you for the excellent review

And i have a request for you. Sometimes the whole ownership experience of a true gem car can be spoilt due to the crappy dealing of Service centres. Personally, i feel cheated every single time i take back the car from ASC and may be (the peace of mind factor of ASC?) tempt me to give the car there again. Some of them just stay open to literally loot us, especially if they get to know we haven't any technical knowledge about cars. So the best thing you can do to help us is to share your memorable service experiences and advices. The lot will be thankful to you for that, always.

Wow... thanks guys .. I drove one in 2004 while working at a Tata Motors dealership.. man it is so comfortable. There was a Petrol Limited Edition Tata Safari in the dealership at that time with Kenwood Entertainment system and on the fly 4WD. I have driven that too in 2004. I don't think they made many units. I hope you would find one to review. Another one of the unique cars i had been into in Circa 1994 was the Sipani Montego. It had sunroof and power windows. Would love to see it once more, just incase if you can find one.

Great! Really excited to watch. Travelled a lot in Tata Estate those days (1992-1994). The company I worked owned one Silver Tata Estate and Two Maruti 1000s. Got opportunity to travel a lot in them to Tamilnadu and really enjoyed. Few of the drivers were friendly and allowed me to put my hands on the steering :) . Thanks for this video, good old memories for me. Good day

What can i say iam an automobile graduate i cant say that to be an engineer you have to be an real enthusiasts. in my education i didnt get these type of knowledge from anyone. Simply you guys are a pure enthusiasts . In automotive reviews usually we see the spec and all like this like that blaa . On the other hand you guys give an new knowledge,new things that we dont know without any doubt i can say.. i didnt know these much deep even if i studied automotive engineering.

This is what is missing from major auto journalist today becoz they are too young and they do not know the differentiation of what cars were at that time and now..... All-time favourite and dream car. Still have the ad of Sierra Turbo 4x4 water wading somewhere in old cuttings. A couple of bone stock pristine Turbos are there in Trivandrum.
What a review! Felt like we also were with you in the Sierra, I can confirm every single word you have told in the review is true, because I have driven the NA Sierra in the 90s. Like JayD said it gives kind of a floating feeling whatever the road surface conditions may be. It had an auto glow plug timer also (other unique features are already mentioned in the review). It was truly a delight to see a very well maintained NA Sierra, Hats off to the first owner for having maintained this gem of a car intact, also the honchos at TELCO deserve wholehearted praise for having the guts to go ahead with a two-door SUV back in 1991!. Sierra always invokes a sense of admiration & like you guys pointed out - Sierra had a fabulous list of "First" features still unheard of during that time. A proper badass SUV among the herd of cars. Last but never the least...Alongside the turbo, I hope you guys are able to showcase the Sierra 4X4 as well (Fingers crossed).

Mag wheels and balloon tyres!! This is the term that comes to mind when you think of Sierra!! I think the mod shop you mentioned is Bad Boys in Thrissur. Remember seeing their decal in many modded Sierra s back in the day. Great review as usual! Slight correction. The tail lamp of Sierra is different from that of Estate. I learnt it the hard way! Sourced with great difficulty an original tail lamp for my ,92' estate, turns out it was a Sierra tail lamp. But I sourced the OG Estate taillights from Aurangabad and it's stored safety ! Also rather than Bronco, I think the real 'inspiration' for Sierra is the GMC Typhoon. It's more in sync with the design.

Very good episode. Hats off to the owner who kept the Sierra in stock condition. Unlike the Estate which is almost extinct, Sierras still can be found on the road but most are modified beyond recognition.

Tata Sierra- my memory about this car is listening to the heavy low frequencies from a modified one owned by Emperor car accessories Palarivattom during 2001. I was staying just opposite to this shop at that time. It was such a beauty to look at with alpine audio system
