Thanks for all the helpful reviews Jon! Just bought my first 4Runner (2016 Trail premium, 50k miles) and everything is still stock. Thanks to your helpful videos I’ll be making some upgrades soon!
Jon, enjoy the videos and information. Wish I had watched them all because at the tail end you explained about being able to swap bulbs in the Pro Series. Also went to the Alphrex site and they do have military discount once your service is verified, so that took the LUXX series to mid 600's. Vids are good though, keep it up.

Dude this is a GOOD video! Great information, and pretty impressive the time you must have put into making this, just in taking that bumper on and off alone! 🤣
Great review! Not quite sold on them as an alternative to OEM because of the maintenance time required and possibility of wearing out hardware over time from the removal and installation process. I’m glad you cover that in detail. Good product though, definitely better than factory. I’ll stick with the Lasfit Custom Low Beams for now, also another good review!

Hmmm, these and maybe the Morimoto tails maybe a good way to go. I don’t like any of the other tail lights honestly.
Would the PRO series headlights work better with baja design SAE fog lights assisting them? Like would you think that they could help extend that 45 degree cutoff and basically be equivalent to how the LUXX series perform?
I’m looking at those morimoto gen 2 XB I saw on that 2021 looks awesome. I don’t know if you have done a review on the morimoto yet. But what is your thoughts on morimoto vs these alpha Rex headlights?

TRD JON Just ordered the Pros from Amazon. The Seller on Amazon has them for $385.00 (midnight back) which seemed too good to be true. I saw they were made by ModifyStreet. I didn’t know that ModifyStreet and AlphaRex are the same company. It’s says these come with No HID, but I plan to install my own LEDs. Can I ask, is there a way to do sequential turn signals with these?
Even with unlimited bux to pick either the Luxx or Pro, I would still go with the Pro only due to the hassle of replacing a whole headlight. Which means that I would need to purchase a set either for the future or eventually to replace a headlight. 30k hours is 3 years and a half. If I get the Pro, all I need to do is get a new bulb and done- forever. The Luxx or Nova I’m gonna need to wait for shipping etc. Not sure. It’s just more practical doing what I already do and that’s just change the light bulb. Not the whole headlight. Sheesh that sucks because I want the LED. Thanks for the great review!! I purchased a 2021 4Runner Offroad Premium in the summer of 2021. I didn't like the shadows on the cutoff for both headlights so based on this video and another TRD JON video I purchased the Alpharex Pro with Lastfit LA Plus Series H7 LED Bulb 60W 6000LM 6000K Amplified Flux Beam for both Low and High Beam. When I go to DRL and Running Light Mode on the vehicle the High beam LED is lower brightness and flickers fairly quick. I understand the lower voltage to the LED because its the stock function of the vehicle but my questions are: Is this normal for the 2021 4Runner? Does this hurt the LED bulb? If it will hurt the LED bulb, how do I remedy this? I love the Low and High beam LED with the Alpharex and I don't want to get rid of these headlights but I also don't want to replace LED bulb frequently.
The key word “serviceable” simple fix when bulb goes out vs buying new assemble and the hassle of the whole process installing again. Hence… I have a retrofit OEM using all OEM placement and function.
great video. i have a 2021 on order and toyota finally upgraded to LED lights on the stock models. do you think its worth buying the pro version and using the stock toyota LED bulbs?? i dont have the vehicle yet to check the stock performance but would be cool to see if these upgrades are still needed now that toyota offers LED's stock
Thank you for this video and the many others you’ve made. I bought the AlphaRex Pro and the LED bulbs because of your suggestion. Two questions/confirmations: Do the lights come with everything we need for installation and with the LED bulbs added, will there be any issues (to your knowledge) with hyper flash in my 2018 4Runner? Thank you for taking the time!
Thank you so much for such an awesome comparison video. I am also curious as to how vision pro F3S series bulbs work. I currently have them in the stock headlight housing and have such awesome output. But at $150 per pair they are a bit pricy. Again, thank you. This has been my main question with the pro series since their release. Keep up the good work. Are you using that new Sony camera for videos now?
How’s it Jon 🤙🏽 I have 2020 trd trail. Thinking of buying the pro series only question I have is can I use the same LED bulbs I already have on my stock headlights and swap it on the pro series with no problem ? Thank you so much !
TRD JON okay 👌 what about the high beam and the drls what are the sizes ? I’m gonna start buying the bulbs and install it right off the bat once I get the pro series before installing it. Thanks again
Awesome video the only thing you forgot to do is to hit the turn signals to show the people the pro series are sequential as well. At least i think they are. Cool videos btw.
Thanks for the video! To be honest I’ve been waiting for your review to pick the Pro, especially with those LED for about 50 bucks. That is definitely a nice option to have. Can’t beat the price! BTW would you mind adding another link on your description for LED for the high beams on the Pro series? Thanks again! Go Air Force! 👍🏻
Thanks!! If you want then just buy 2 of them. The high beem is an H7 size as well, but now that's $100 so you are getting close to the Luxx series price.
great insight Jon. I'm about to pull the plug on the PRO series in Black, do you have any discount codes :)? also, which LED's for lo and hi bulbs would you recommend?
Hi Jon, very helpful video. I am choosing the best upgrade for my '12 Tundra and like the AlphaRex Pro so far, with the upgraded LED's from the link you provide. Question: the LED upgrade bulbs says its a hi and low beam fitment. Does this mean the package comes with a high and low, or is it 2 hi/low combos? If the a combo, how does it mesh with the provided high beam in the AlphaRex? Thanks for helping me sort it out :)
Just bought a pair of the PRO-Series thanks to your video Jon 👊 gonna exchange the highs for the 50$ set you posted then run a more expensive LED in the low beam just to see if the cut offs any better. Would you suggest an anti flicker harness of some sort for the high beams so they don’t flicker when they’re on partial power as running lights?
@@TRDJon Do you think its needed or have those cheaper LED bulbs done just fine with no flickering? I just hate to install then have to take them back off to redo the harness
How do you connect the LEDs to the OEM harnesses? I’m in the middle of install and I can’t get the plugs to match up at all on the Pro’s with LEDS added. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the review! I just ordered these and wanted to get the LED bulb. The link to Amazon has several bulbs. Can you confirm I need the H7? IF so, will either H7 offered at the link work?
Hi Jon! Incredible videos and channel! It's helped me so much as I'm new to Toyota and 4runners. Question about the Alpharex pros...I have a 2021 venture edition and love the stock headlight output. Can I use that the stock HID with the pro series? Thanks!
The 2021 head lights are a different kinda light. You’d have to reach out to alpharex about that one. Your headlights are built into the actual housing
Why change it if you love the stock light output? For 2021 and 2022 you really don’t need to change them since they come with the leds on all trims unless you get them just for the drl strip. 2020 and older came with halogens so those def should be swapped out for leds like morimotos or alpharex. I have a 2018 4runner and been using the stock halogen headlights and fog lights for 90,000 miles now so it was time to switch up to aftermarket led housing. Got the morimoto xb led headlights with the amber drl and morimoto xb led fog lights and the morimoto taillights all during the Labor Day sale and they are a game changer.
Jon you said that the 2021 4 runner limited uses factory led for low and high beam and a 9005 drl is the 9005 now strictly for drl at reduced voltage or does it work in conjunction with the led highbeam?
I am still super nervous about built in or on board. I see the problem with the bulb swap is really because the 4Runner was designed with a side mount low beam bulb. I wish I had an unlimited baller budget!!! LOL
Hey Jon, I bought the pro-series for my 2019 4Runner. I wanted to add some GTR lights ultra 2 LEDs h7 size but the shaft was too wide on the LEDs for the low beam but went in well on the hi beams. Do you know if that’s how their designed or is my housing a defect?
Hey jon. Is there a way to wire the lux’s to do the dance sequence on lock and unlock. Also is there a way to keep the DRL strip at 100% brightness even WITH the low beams on
These are awesome!! Installing the Pro Series... followed Jon's thoughts swapping halogens for LEDs>> question though, anyone know low beam/ high beam wire polarity (blue or grey wire)
Hi Jon. I used auxbeam for my led in the pro housings. It has a dead black circle zone in the middle of the beam with these bulbs. Probly because the led chips on the auxbeam are mounted side to side. Unlike the ones you used are a 360 design. Do you remember a dead zone in the middle?
So what would your choice be if you’re not a DIY person, and would be taking them to a shop to install? Still the Pro? Or would the 30k hours be worth the time, effort and money?
I mean even for the non DIY person, you'll still save money with the pro, just have them put whatever bulbs in you want prior to installing. But if you can afford it, then go luxx
Do the 5th gen t4rs use canbus to monitor and control the headlights and fog lights? Seems like its a pretty important thing to know when purchasing leds lol
@@TRDJon dang, I'm in NC. The headlights look awesome. Enjoy them man and thanks for your detailed reviews. I understand the amount of work you put in. Be good brother
Help me out, Jon. I was planning on the Luxx series because of the startup feature, better output, and I'd want to replace the Pro's with LEDs anyways. But, I'm worried about the LEDs that can not be replaced. You mention the bulbs have a 30,000 hour lifespan warranty... so even if I ran these non-stop for 3yrs, I still wouldn't hit 30k. Should we really be worried about bulb failure? Do you know if Alpharex would replace or discount a new headlight for bulb failure?
@@TRDJon sorry to bother again but what brights will fit in the pro housing? i have LED for the stock now i know i have to get the H7 so is there a different one for the brights?

The key word “serviceable” simple fix when bulb goes out vs buying new assemble and the hassle of the whole process installing again.
Hence… I have a retrofit OEM using all OEM placement and function.
Excellent review....thanks for doing this.
Glad it was helpful!
Holy crap! They like them more than I do. Who came up with those prices?
great video. i have a 2021 on order and toyota finally upgraded to LED lights on the stock models. do you think its worth buying the pro version and using the stock toyota LED bulbs?? i dont have the vehicle yet to check the stock performance but would be cool to see if these upgrades are still needed now that toyota offers LED's stock
Glad it was helpful! And yes. The Sony ZV1. Need to get better editing software for the audio portion now to get those cicadas out!!!
Great comparison!!! Thank a million!
No problem 👍
can't wait to see the video where you velcro your front bumper on :P.
🤣🤣🤣
Hi Jon, aside being able to swap the low/high beams lights, are you able to swap out the turn lights for the Pro series as well?
Nice info thank you for your awesome videos keep it up man
Appreciate the support man! Will definitely keep them coming!!
So! After two years, you have to take off the bumper and everything to replace the headlights on the fixed bulb units?
How’s it Jon 🤙🏽 I have 2020 trd trail. Thinking of buying the pro series only question I have is can I use the same LED bulbs I already have on my stock headlights and swap it on the pro series with no problem ? Thank you so much !
No. These new ones are H7 in size
I thought i did when the hazards were on. I can’t remember
TRD JON you do have a valid point and I really don’t use the highs that much. Thanks again! 👍🏻
I’m getting the ProSeries Alphablack. How are the led lights holding up that you bought.
Are you still using the Luxx? I am planning to buy the Luxx, Nova is just too expensive
I wish there were more like buttons to help you even more haha
It all good! I appreciate the one you gave!!!
Great video!! Very informative
those led bulbs aren't available, any help on what to search for . I just got the alpharex pros , and would like to upgrade to led bulbs
Me2
Sick looking headlights but, after only 3.5yrs (30,000hrs) you’re out how much again? They sure did time that warranty just right too
great insight Jon. I'm about to pull the plug on the PRO series in Black, do you have any discount codes :)? also, which LED's for lo and hi bulbs would you recommend?
I have the link for the LED'S I used in the description of the video. They were great for the price.
You need to find the bulb size that fits for the tundra and not the 4r. I'm not sure if tundra is different.
“Like button smaaash” (Hulk voice)
Hahahaha 😂
great vid dude
Glad you enjoyed
Good review as always, but if I get the pro and added the led why not just add them to stock assemblies?
You can 100% yes. But you don’t get the DRL led thing and the cooler look ( to some). Just added features.
Will different LED bulbs potentially extend the 45 degree cutoff?
Just bought a pair of the PRO-Series thanks to your video Jon 👊 gonna exchange the highs for the 50$ set you posted then run a more expensive LED in the low beam just to see if the cut offs any better. Would you suggest an anti flicker harness of some sort for the high beams so they don’t flicker when they’re on partial power as running lights?
I haven’t had the change to really search for one. But just make sure it’s an H7 fit meant
@@TRDJon Do you think its needed or have those cheaper LED bulbs done just fine with no flickering? I just hate to install then have to take them back off to redo the harness
You may be able to fit it with them in. I was able to on mine for the Luxx
How do you connect the LEDs to the OEM harnesses? I’m in the middle of install and I can’t get the plugs to match up at all on the Pro’s with LEDS added. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If you are talking about the new LED Bulb still, it plugs in like a wall socket essentially to were the old bulb would be.
Thanks for the review! I just ordered these and wanted to get the LED bulb. The link to Amazon has several bulbs. Can you confirm I need the H7? IF so, will either H7 offered at the link work?
Yes H7 I believe unless they changed it.
Thanks for the great review. subbed
Thanks!
Great job... Very much appreciated
You are very welcome
I am still super nervous about built in or on board. I see the problem with the bulb swap is really because the 4Runner was designed with a side mount low beam bulb. I wish I had an unlimited baller budget!!! LOL
Don't we all!! hahah
Jon, when you installed the aftermarket LEDs on the Pro, were you able to close the cap or did you leave the cap off? Thanks!
It will close
Hey Jon,
I bought the pro-series for my 2019 4Runner. I wanted to add some GTR lights ultra 2 LEDs h7 size but the shaft was too wide on the LEDs for the low beam but went in well on the hi beams. Do you know if that’s how their designed or is my housing a defect?
Not sure of GTR lighting. Never worked with that bulb before
Not 100% but you can swap them if the don't turn on. Just unplug and flip wire 180 degrees
How are the pro's holding up?
I gave them away but the luxx are doing great!
Wouldn't HID in the PRO work better??
I recently bought the pro series for my 2017 4runner limited but just curious does your turn signal flash fast and what fuse location did you use?
Hi Jon.
I used auxbeam for my led in the pro housings. It has a dead black circle zone in the middle of the beam with these bulbs.
Probly because the led chips on the auxbeam are mounted side to side.
Unlike the ones you used are a 360 design.
Do you remember a dead zone in the middle?
I don’t honestly
So what would your choice be if you’re not a DIY person, and would be taking them to a shop to install? Still the Pro? Or would the 30k hours be worth the time, effort and money?
I mean even for the non DIY person, you'll still save money with the pro, just have them put whatever bulbs in you want prior to installing. But if you can afford it, then go luxx
I got the pro series and love em
Heck yes!!!
Do the 5th gen t4rs use canbus to monitor and control the headlights and fog lights? Seems like its a pretty important thing to know when purchasing leds lol
Where are you located John? Want to do any testing of the Alpha's vs BXBuilts that I just threw in?
I’m in the FL pan handle. You?
@@TRDJon dang, I'm in NC. The headlights look awesome. Enjoy them man and thanks for your detailed reviews. I understand the amount of work you put in. Be good brother
Thank you!!!
Did you replace both hi and lo lamps with the H7 LEDs?
yes correct
Hey Jon, quick question. Are the led bulbs a easy swap? like the regular housing? or is it more complicated?
Super easy for the OEM housing. I have several videos on that.
@@TRDJon thanks for the response, but I meant the housing for the alpha pros
It’s a paint when they are installed. Hard to get to the low beams
I’m not sure what their policy is after a warranty. But I mean with Luxx there is more of a possibility for a faulty system since it is internal.
I have the 22 4runner limited with led oem, can I use them in the pro series?
No. Those are built in bulbs
Hey Jon did you swap the turn signal bulbs or did they not fit ? Like you said we must get an H7 led
I swapped the LED from Lasfit when I swapped in the LED bulb. Cuz I broke the halogen :(
@@TRDJon ok so just need H7 led bulb and then put in my turn signal bulb in the por and should be good in the pro ? Thank you for the great video
They come with blinker bulbs. But if you have a bulb that is better in your stock housing, they will fit.
@@TRDJon sorry to bother again but what brights will fit in the pro housing? i have LED for the stock now i know i have to get the H7 so is there a different one for the brights?
all is h7 for the pro
Hey Jon, I'm thinking about getting the pro series. I currently have 5000k led bulb in my stock headlights. Do you know if my led bulb will match the color with the drl? Or should I get the amazon bulb you mention? Does the 6000k match perfectly? Thanks for the response in advance!
Your stock lights won’t fit in this. Different bulb size
Sorry I might have missed it, what leds do you use in the Pros?
do you have a new link for the replacement LED bulbs?
So how do the luxx series compare to the Nova?
If I am able to get my hands on them, I will.
hey Jon so what u think is the best lighting for overall driving ? how about moromoto?
I haven’t personally used them, but haven’t heard the best from friends about them
so the pros i can remove the halogen bulb and replace them with HID bulbs?
