Charging at 40 amps is nice, but on a 50 amp breaker, that’s 80% strain on that breaker. Little bit of a concern.

      80% is perfectly within spec

Been looking at this charger for a bit.
Does the tesla adaptor ends fit the mustart? The
Mustart only has the tt30 with the L end instead of just the PIN.

What adapters would you need to use?

One thing people never talk about is well over half the houses in the US only have 100A service so there is no way they can have a 50A breaker dedicated to a 14-50 socket for charging. The cost of upgrading a house to 200A service + installing a 14-50 socket could run into the $1000's depending on where the socket is located relative to the breaker box. The reality for a lot of people is going to be 120V charging or 30A(24A) from a 14-30 dryer socket which is 21 miles per charging hour which beats dropping $7000 on a 200A service upgrade.

About 40 million homes in the US have 100 amp service, but since the '80s 200 amp service has become the norm. For a 50 amp plug plus an AC unit 100 amps may be enough if one has a soft start installed in the AC unit. Agree upgrading to 200 amp service would negate the savings of an EV..

Just want to mention one thing. Don't got to UA-cam U and starting installing NEMA 14-50 plugs by yourself. Plus don't get the power outlets from the cheapest source at Amazon, they will not last and are a fire hazard. Use a licensed electrician and insist in getting a high quality plug installed, it may cost more but it is safer. I went for a destination charger that is hardwired and gives me 48 amps...I can charge the model Y from 18% to 80% in 4 hours at home.

I paid an electrician to install this outlet and it's a very cheap one
