It would be awesome if I could be a part of the assembly process, but that would mean that I would have to leave my current job that I love doing. That Chieftain Darkhorse at 6:20 is one sexy bike. Although I do miss my Scout, I love my '17 Chieftain Limited in silver smoke. I get a lot of compliments from my Harley riding friends and others. Thanks for the tour!
I hate when a copy cat motorcycle company attempt to steal the Indian Legacy, kind of like fake veterans show up on memorial day with fake medals and stolen valor.
Same plant that Victory motorcycles were made in. The Victory brand should have never gone away, they needed the better fit and finish that the Indians have.
Awesome video. Would Love to visit there. Was hoping to see an FTR 1200 in production. I own one, and kind of follow it online before my bike was delivered to me. Just Love my 2022 FTR 1200 R Carbon and all the compliments I get about it. An Awesome Bike
Very nice to see the home from which my stunning 2019 Indian Springfield in steel gray and burgundy metallic was created. Cruiser Heaven, all day, every day!
These type of bikes are not for me. I am a sicko for Goldwings, but Indian really got me to open my eyes. They did an amazing job on the last gen bikes. My co-worker has the Pursuit and he LOVESSSSS it.
I traded my 2022 Goldwing DCT to Buy the 2023 Indian Chieftain DarkHorse. I am a happy rider again. Love the Indian Brand and I love the finished product.
I traded a 2021 Goldwing DCT(fantastic bike) for a new Springfield, fits me so much better and has way more soul. Goldwing was an appliance, Springfield was a motorcycle.
Great tour! Would love to do in person one day. I stopped several times in past years looking for a tour... covid and tours were not an option.. soon I'll be back to Spirit Lake Iowa...
I'm retired now(finally). But I would love to work for Indian. (Part time of course) I would need 4 days off for riding. 😮😅😂. Thanks for the video. 2025 Scout 101 has me drooling 🤤 " HANSOM BIKE"
This video is about 6 years old. (The visible computer monitors showed "11/02/17".) I miss the colours that were available then. I'd still love to have a Springfield in Indian Red.
I'm thinking this was Victory HQ first? Bought my first one in 2000, My thrid one in 2017. It may have a Indian badge on the tank, but it has Victory at it's core!!!
This location was in fact the Victory flagship plant for assembly of Victory Motorcycles! Spirit Lake Iowa. Former 2017 Victory Magnum X-1 loved that bike.. upgrade to the challenger when it was released.
you need to get rid of those timers stop worrying about how fast you can make a bike an start focusing on what really matters like all of these codes ive been reading about that your bikes are throwing and trying to dog your employees by trying to make the bikes race threw all the stations as fast as possible . we all now that all those records that you say you are keeping are for company liability and have very little to do with the customer quantity is not quality
Nice looking bikes. I went to look at the chief sport today but was quickly turned off by the bullshit markups totaling over $2,500 over MSRP and that’s before taxes. I won’t be buying any of these until these dealers come to their senses. There are many other motorcycle options out there and I have plenty of time.
They do. Some of us that don't work for Indian even get an employee discount. Indian Ambassadors get an even larger discount on parts than the employee discount.
I was once explained by a Polaris employee, discounts do happen with several rules.. during covid, no employees got preference on a new bike because of shortages. Discounts dont really apply to high demand products or special edition bikes. Your base models employees receive discounts when they are available. Employees need benefits too..
Great question! Unfortunately the answer is no. Indian Motorcycles were originally produced from 1901 to 1953 in Springfield, Massachusetts, United States. Hendee Manufacturing Company initially produced the motorcycles, but the name was changed to the Indian Motorcycle Company in 1923.
Indian makes great bikes, but let's drop the whole "American Heritage bit. Indian was more or less extinct from 53 to the 90's, unless you count some Indian- Enfields and 60's mini bikes.
Why are the staff not wearing the same clothing . Indian should be providing at least t shirts so that staff are not wearing loose fitting shirts that could get caught in machinery . I notice this a lot with American factory workers . Surely it,s a safety issue .
@@whisperingwolf8217 If I were the winner of a hundred-million dollar lottery, I would. Just have to save and do with less elsewhere, like the rest of us. I have upgraded motorcycles several times in my life. But in each instance, I had to let go of the previous bike to take on it's new replacement. Worked a lot of overtime and side jobs to have the Indian Challenger I ride today.
Your Harley is for troons now... also, not Harley but AMF Bowling Company. And they still used tractor tech, basically you are still buying bikes from a clothing and merchandise company. Polaris is one of the largest motorsport companies in the business, most of their sales numbers are not from t-shirts.
Original harley davidson was bankrupt by 1969. Had parent company amf not bought the harley brand and assets and kept it afloat, harley would not be here. If you do your research you will find out amf was responsible for most if not all of harleys evo motor. The original indian factory did close but the indian motorcycle brand did not. The brand changed hands several times but did not die. Polaris was the one with deep enough pockets to revive indian and build quality motorcycles. Indians are not warmed over victorys. There are no parts on an indian that were common to victory and or interchangeable. Polaris did a good job reviving indian and if you will take the time you will find out that a 30k roadmaster has most of the amenities that would require a harley rider to pony up 46k plus for a cvo. Standard on the roadmaster is heated seats and hand grips, electrically height adjustable windshield, all led lighting, electronicaly remote locking saddle bags and trunk, fox racing mono air shock rear suspension with all most 5" of travel, 116" thunderstroke motor with gear drive zero maintenance primary instead of an antiquated high maintenance drive chain. Take a look at harleys new street glide cvo and road glide cvo fairings and tell me who the copy cat is. Harleys new fairings resemble the indian chieftan/roadmaster darkhorse and the indian challenger. Indian came to the market with inverted forks on the challenger 4 years ago harley cvo's will finally have them by the end of 2023. I have owned and ridden both, and harley has some catching up to do.
Harley copies that aren’t as good as a real Harley .here in Australia you hardly see an Indian as they don’t handle our weather or distance,s .then there’s the electrics witch aren’t up to it .things like overheating, cast frames that snap ,gears sticking .the only one worth anything is the scout .
@Tony Rowland. As a Harley-Davidson owner who cares who owns Indian. The bottom line is they give you more options for your money than Harley-Davidson. I myself would stay with Harley-Davidson because I like the looks and the sound from a Harley-Davidson
Very happy to see this factory tour,
Indian is not just bikes it is part of cultural heritage of US 👍.

They just keep getting better and better 👍

I'm a Scout 2021 owner, best bike I ever had. Outstanding.
Smooth, powerful, well built. Love it.
They need more dealerships so more people can see them and test ride them. The nearest dealer is 100 miles from my house in heavy traffic.
Thank you so much for sharing this video I absolutely love Indian Motorcycles

Would love take a road trip to this place!
It is a cool facility right near Okoboji. Unfortunately, they quit doing live tours of the factory during Covid, but it was fun to see regardless.
Great, so why was I charged so much for dealer assembly when they don’t actually assemble anything?

Where do the parts come from? Is the engine made in the USA or just assembled?
Indian and Harley are made in the USA but some of their parts come from overseas.
@@derfskittlers6125 I get that, but which parts?

overseas

Nice to see where my Rogue 60 came from 😎
The Indian Paint and assembly plant, nothing is manufactured there. Wonder where they make the engines?
Osceola Wisconsin 😊

I wish Indian would do a modern re-make of the 1940 Four.

This Indian/Polaris company has absolutely ZERO to do with the original Indian company. It's disingenuous to suggest otherwise
So thats where the quality control is left out, and nothing but bold new colors every year after year .. Soon to go the way of Victory

Why are the motorbikes called INDIAN ?
From what I understand George Hendee said he wanted to make an American motorcycle and what's more American than an "Indian".
The Polaris factory...1901?? Not consistently. Harley is truthfully since 1903. Indian is just a Victory upgrade.
Jealous much?
