Adan Chance brought this project to Home Free because he is a big fan of sea shanties. The rest of the group was reluctant at first to do this and Chance had to convince them to do it. I am glad he did. This song went viral and is Home Free’s second most watched video (36 million+ in just over 2 years). Their #1 song is Ring of Fire with 43 million+ views over 9 years. The success of this song caught the attention of Ubisoft and they reached to Home Free to come with a song for their Skull and Bones video game. Chance wrote the song and has been well received. Great reaction and you guys have a blessed day.

Austin was doing the Sinbad style, Tim was our Capt Jack Sparrow, Adam with his Seinfeld puffy shirt pirate, Rob then Chance were the more modern Longshoreman. This was great Tim standing in the boat in his brother in laws backyard. The sword Austin used was his grandfathers i believe. So well done and Chance pushed for this, hes the huge sea shanty fan. Thanks so much for this reaction guys.

The live version rocks
Darren Rust is their producer. When quarantine started he told the HF members what equipment to get so they could do videos at home. Darren is the magic man who put these together at his home. HF videos wouldn’t be the same without him.
Just a little clarification: Darren Rust does many (or most) of Home Free’s arrangements and produces the music. As you said, during quarantine the guys all got the proper mics and software so they could record their vocal tracks at home (I think Rob always did his tracks at Darren’s studio, and Adam did his percussion at home long before the pandemic). Darren would work with each one separately and could control the software while they were recording their individual parts.
(Post pandemic they still record their tracks remotely as opposed to going to Darren’s studio in Minnesota).
Jimmy Bates is the genius behind their quarantine videos, among others. They would come up with the concept for the video and Jimmy would work with each of the guys to get the footage he needed (since they were all recording their own video on iPhones or other digital cameras). He then edited it into these masterful results.

Adam and his casta-nots... incredible! And their personalities showed through (except Tim's, as he couldn't rock the boat).
This is not the LIVE Sea Shanty video. They are all on the stage together with a 5,000 seat audience and it’s a professionally filmed version. Really let’s you hear them singing so well live!! They have a great series on their channel called Home Away from Home that gives a little look into their life on the road. They have one video that mentions the guys lost track of time and Adam ended up doing like 10 minutes of sound effects after his solo before the other guys realized he was done. LOL
I've played this so many times (loudly) that its become my neighbors favorite whether he likes it or not.😂😂😂 I always said I wonder what Tims neighbors said when they saw him out there standing in a boat, singing, dressed like Jack Sparrow. 😂❤ Thanks again for your HomeFree Fridays. Yes Ubisoft heard their Sea Shanty Melody and loved it so Ubisoft approached Home Free with an amazing opportunity to write a shanty for Skull And Bones video game they are releasing. Chance loves sea shanties and everything to do with the sea and loves gaming so he jumped at the opportunity.They also sang a shorter version at Ubisoft Live Premiere.It’s beyond epic.A lot of reactors do both the lyric and live in the same reaction because the live is much shorter and you get to see who is doing what.
Thanks for your reaction! How good are these guys? The fun & energy in this is infectious. This was done during quarantine so none of the guys were even together. The editing of this was great & was done in the Tik Tok style. Love all the guys parts, with Tim's rumbling bass underlying it all. And Adam's beatboxing is phenomenal as always including sea swells & castanets. Amazing how he increased the tempo from one song to another. They recently released a professional live version of this medley of songs.
Chance convinced them to do this during quarantine, and it's gone global ever since! It also got the attention of the Ubisoft gaming company. This was actually done during quarantine. Austin gave us some of his musical theater background. I was so happy that you brought up Adam's castanets. Most reactors don't usually don't say anything about them. Really enjoyed watching your reactions to these songs.

This is a favorite among the Home Fries! This is the song that landed them the gig from Ubisoft. You are the first reactor I’ve seen to catch the castanets! I’ve seen this one live and it’s just as amazing.
Jimmy Barnes is the video producer, Darren is music. They both deserve massive awards for the things they have done over the years.

You were right to mention Darren Rust he was instrumental on getting everyone the right equipment to be able to record during covid their entire organization is creative on a budget.

Home Free's quarantine videos were created and edited by the incredible Jimmy Bates - he's been making videos for them since 2015, and his talent for making fun, imaginative videos on a shoe-string was exactly what they needed at a time when they couldn't get together and hire film crews.

Austin was dialing in on his musical theatre training. And poor Tim. He looked so frozen, but he was being filmed while standing in a small boat. So balance was foremost! And Adam was killing it with his percussion and castanets. I hope you will do their live performance of the shanty’s. Sounded even better (if that is possible). They performed to a huge crowd in Mankato MN. Love the two of you.

Crazy good!! They sure kept us entertained during Covid. That’s how I discovered them. Filmed individually at their homes. Tim couldn’t move much as he was standing in a boat and was afraid he’d fall out. Yeah the castanets were crazy good and Adam was also making splashing noises too. Austin….goofy as always! A great idea from Chance who likes a lot of those Sea shanty songs and in my opinion really has the voice and appearance for them. It is made in quarantine period. Besides each having their great part in this medley, I really love the beatboxing with castanets sound! It was done in the TikTok style, which is why I regularly see / hear come by at the TikTok videos. Also watch and listen to their live performance of this song.

Chance changes shirts in the video, almost unnoticeable, and i believe thats where the tic tok dance video you were thinking about came from.
This went really viral on tik tok and people were using Home Free's version to dance to and I think the guy with the changing color shirts used this.
Yay for Home Fryday!!!! This is one of my favorites of the biweekly videos they did during the pandemic. The video cleverly mimics different TikTok formats with vertical filming and duets, down to the TikTok-like hf logo. As far as costumes most of them went with what they had at home (though I’m not sure about Tim). And though Tim’s costume looked the most like Captain Jack Sparrow, Austin was channeling his quirky mannerisms. Loved your reaction (and congrats on detecting the castanets right away)

This was done separately during the Covid lockdowns. Tim is standing so still 'cuz he's standing in a boat in his brother-in-law's backyard. The live videos of them - regardless of the audio/video quality of the device used - are always terrific. The live version of this song was filmed professionally and is truly epic - definitely a must-see!
