My hair is butt length right now, after two separate big chops. I’ve tucked it away for so long, and did nothing to it (but wash and deep treatments) as it grew and grew. But what’s the point? Heat damage be damned! I don’t care anymore. It ’s actually easier to manage and less tangles when blown out. I flatiron maybe every 3rd or 4th blowout depending on weather conditions. And I will continue to do whatever makes me happy, and makes my life easier. ❤

Just because yall like to be in hair prison doesn't mean other naturals want to be in the cell with yall. It's the nerve of yall for me. If Simone wants to enjoy her hair then that's what she is going to do. Yall strict naturals are boring and yes I'm a natural too. Girl anyways since it’s so slight just get the aphogee in the white bottle with purple accents. It stinks…bad but it’s a protein treatment. Anyways follow the directions then apply hot air to the hair until it turns crunchy. DONT blow dry the hair just apply heat to the hair to make it crunchy. When your whole head is dry that’s when you wash it out and then deep condition. This is for everyone who has slight damage.

Good for you! I'm a relaxer girl, but I admire how you just rolled with it and didn't freak out! You can fix damage, and... it will grow back! The same happens for relaxed girls. Natural girls are just waiting for perms to damage our hair, lol! It usually doesn't. But damage can occur for many reasons- for me, simply switching from a comb to a brush caused it. But so what. With damage or no damage, regular trims do the trick- I trim 1/2 inch about every 2 months. Healthy hair will just grow right back. It's not earth shattering, lol. You have nice length (mid back) and so do I. So no biggie!❤

So let me be the first to say it, when you’re natural and you straighten your hair it will not always bounce right back to the curls!!! I straighten my hair at least 3-4 a year and sometimes it takes two separate wash days to get my curls back! Could be the water, could be the shampoo, or maybe my hair has a mind of its own!
Every head of hair is different! It’s not always heat damaged!

I don’t think it’s heat damage. I noticed after a certain time and length natural hair changes curl pattern from the pattern being trained with repeated styles, from it retaining moisture, & from the weight of length stretching it out.
    Everyone’s different though.

Can't see the damage, looks healthy. It happens to us all. You might have had a tiny bit of oils of your hair when using your irons. You know how to fix it ❤

I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever commented on one of these videos. I just lurk for no reason because I obviously don't need to be here, don't even have mixed kids, but I've seen other white women (who don't have mixed kids either , so why, Becky?) trying to give "advice" and opinions in this space, and it boggles my mind. Aside from that, though, the 20-teens circa ladies on UA-cam DO take it verrrry seriously, so I get your point. Your hair's gorgeous though.

I have heat damage in the front of my hair too. I got my hair straightened one time for the first time since being natural (for my graduation pictures so I could wear the tam easier) and maybe it was the ten passes she did with various hot on a and flat irons but the front is the most visibly damaged. I shrugged it off but the fact that it’s the front was offensive 😭

The natural hair community can be very cult like.

The natural hair community is so toxic. The obsession with humbling women who experiment with their hair and them feeling like they’re little cosmetologists who have all the information about natural hair and the rest of us are stupid? I do whatever I want with my hair. It’s gonna grow back at the end of the day.

This happened to me with HD at the roots. It took forever to grow out because I had long hair. The worst part was when it finally got to the end. It’s almost gone now.

How do you fix heat damage or do you have to cut it off??

  • @T56757

It doesn’t appear unless you've been using heat. Remember to use a heat protectant before using heat.

You could turn off the tap while you massage your hair. Water is a valuable resource that is depleting.
