Actually, from an engineering standpoint not being able to place a column without a column or wall underneath makes perfect sense. You have to remember that the column takes the weight of a wide area and concentrates it.

Yeah it does but from a gameplay stand point it's not good.

can you put a square roof tile on a round wall? If you can then maybe change the round roof tiles on your balcony for square ones and you can make your half wall balcony?
