Perspective of an Alaskan: Some of those lines in the cockpit scene are cleverly written. "New bar on 5th, by Merrill." 5th Ave in Anchorage does, in fact, pass by Merrill Field; an airstrip for private and commercial bush planes. There's no bar there now, but who knows what will happen in 40 years. The sausage bit is hilarious, because outsiders seem to think that's our favorite food, when in fact it's mostly for the tourists.
There's a few candidates for bars "by Merrill", guess it depends on your definition. Van's Dive bar is within walking distance, the Polar Bar and Mad Mryna's too. Plenty more down 5th.
Reindeer sausage is overrated. I prefer caribou, elk, and especially moose. There was this old man selling a wide variety of moose jerky heading toward Seward near the 4th of July. Best jerky I've ever tasted. Definitely solidified moose to my taste palette. I'm unsure if he's still selling it around this time, but I've always wanted to go back for more. Also, The Long Rifle Lodge is worth visiting. I just like recommending that place, it's great.
@Noggin41 then be glad you don't understand Portuguese. I'm watching a Horizon Zero Dawn PTBR series with my father, the dude playing it is already on the 16th episode (29 in total with ÷-30 minutes episodes) and he still struggles with some of the most basic mechanics, it's nerve-wracking watching him don't stock up on healing items and forget to loot some powerful machines he kills.
I just realised there are seemingly zero survival games about hot deserts where instead of fearing the cold you have to fear the heat and dehydration Edit: okay you can all stop owning me now
Some Fun facts after watching the intro: The ocean is already threatening to erode villages away on the coast of Alaska, see Kivalina and Shishmaref for two examples There likely will be a new bar on 5th avenue near Merrill Field in 2062, because that is where a lot of bars are today :) Merrill Field is probably the biggest small aircraft field in Alaska and easily handles over 100,000 flights a year Reindeer sausage is delicious Cheers!
Storyline wise nothing in common, but the beginning reminds me of a book I read in 6th grade English class "The Hatchet". I'm 32 years old and still remember how gripping that book was.
The hatchet was the first book of a whole series in case you didn't know, I've read the series multiple times lol. Great way to relive my childhood reading by the fire with my grandpa
I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska. Neat to hear little details about locations, like the bar on 5th Ave by Merrill Field Airport. Little things like that are fun.
@9:40 I was stationed in Hawaii my first 4 years in the US Navy. The food there is AMAZING! If you ever get the chance, definitely go! My favorite foods there were chicken katsu(Japanese style fried chicken breaded with panko), teriyaki chicken musubi(teriyaki chicken on a block of sticky rice wrapped in nori[seaweed]), and char siu pork manapua (Cantonese barbecue pork in a steamed sweet roll)
Bro not gonna lie I wanna see a desert kind of survival game similar to the long dark but set in Australia or something like that. So you have to fight dehydration and desert animals
Alfie being a futuristic ankle monitor is dystopian af. Not only is your movement confined, you're also being watched and recorded at all times too. Useful or not, that shit's nightmare fuel.
They could so some really amazing storytelling by having the robot freeze up or something if it gets too cold, making you all alone for a long while during the worst of it. Give the character his "WILSOOOOON!!!!!!" moment, only as the player, the mechanics of the game will help throw salt in the wound lol
Anyone else but me was also instantaneous transferred to another universe when hearing "Eyes in the prize" with this voice and radio static? Like, StarCraft, anyone?
Hey man great video and I'm sure I speak for a ton of people that watched this video when I say hell yes I want to see more of this! The story seems pretty intriguing and I'd like to see where it goes... And as always, KEEP ON KEEPIN ON MY FRIEND!😊
The attachment to a machine thing is good and scary. Scary if the thing you trust has ill or malicious intent. Good because its that very thing that allows empathy. We recognise others emotions through that face and it also allows us to feel for burn victims for example and not just disregard them as not human. The scary thing is you don't even need to have a living object to feel that. Our brains are so hardwired to it that 2 things above a line indicates a face, like when you look at a car and see a face on the lights and grill.
2:24 It's funny to watch the silicon specism. It trusts the autopilot more than the pilot. I know a few things about aircrafts and autopilots, and I much rather a skilled pilot at the helm than autopilot alone. Even if it is capable of take off, route, and landing, without as extant human interaction.
I love The Long Dark story mode, and this environment looks very similar and quite beautiful. My only gripe is that it seems too story-driven and linear, I love the survival aspect of TLD. Anyhow, thanks for the video, game looks interesting. I'd definitely watch a second part!
@7:17 Realistically, you are never going to start a fire in those harsh conditions. You need to find shelter, first. Make shelter if you have to and stay moving at all cost, till you have shelter from the elements. Then you can make shelter for a fire and build a heat wall behind the fire that you are going to start, if you can.
found you through fooster!!! so awesome...just wanted to let me know you have provided me with countless hours of entertainment and am very greatful...looking forward to watching all your vids now..will try to remember to always hit the like button
If you’ve ever read London’s to build a fire you understand why the cold doesn’t need monsters or mythological creatures that torture you while hunting you, the cold already doesn’t care it’s unforgiving, every step is a step to survive or another step towards certain death, the cold steals your warmth your essence faster than you can feel it, there is no scarier thing than the cold as heat is temporary, everything become cold in the end.
As someone who is currently living in alaska and looking at getting my private license and on to bush pilot later on. This game is my worst nightmare that i can now repeat over and over.
Looks nice, pls more of this one 😁 this games looks pretty nice, i like the graphic, looks like TLD a little bit The conversations with the robot are strange but funny xD
Just for Fun - While watching, a quick prediction: You are going to find Donovans watch and chute, no Donovan. Hahahaha! That second goomba stomp! Alphie: Wheeeeeeeee **CLUNK Doiiing BoNk!**
@16:30. Those guys were definitely Aircrew in the Navy. Pensacola is where the school is for Navy Aircrew. It's also for all the aviation maintenance schools and air traffic control school.

Maybe the devs are Alaskan
Myrna's was a blast, haha. I had an apt on 15th Ave for a bit, neat to hear little details like that in a game. There's heart to it.
Reindeer sausage is overrated. I prefer caribou, elk, and especially moose. There was this old man selling a wide variety of moose jerky heading toward Seward near the 4th of July. When the plane crashed I could hear Fooster yelling "What did you do Fisk ?!?" 😂
Me too
I can see that LOL
😂the fact that you looked at that chair 6times with text popping up before noticing the text to cut it open on screen made me laugh way too hard
He might have a learning disability. Surprised he has this many subs.
It gave me anxiety. Like has he never played a game before.

Arid
Like Nathanial Paz said, Arid. And it´s free on steam,
Less interest. Personally desert environments feel boring as fuck to me.
Tried coding one once, then realized how difficult it is to make it playable and engaging
Starsand or something like that on steam it's in beta

I was thinking the same thing

I absolutely love The Long Dark and this game certainly looks familiar and also the story is intriguing.
100% want to see a series of this.
My watch buzzed at the exact moment he woke up...
dang, 4D youtube video:)
2062: they have anti gravity robots but still use prop engines to fly into storms
how you didn't see, cut seat open, the five times it appeared on the screen lol
Definitely reminds me of Firewatch. I love the art style! I could see myself loving this game

Great video, the game made me think of "Firewatch" only in Winter. 👍
Yes I definitely wanna see more of this it looks very fun and interesting
This looks so interesting the storyline has me hooked
What makes this even better is that Donovan is Kenny’s voice actor from telltales the walking dead
FISK IS THAT FOOSTER THE LITTLE ROBOT
Alfie sure seems like a Klevin to me…wonder if he can fish
