I always found it strange that he plays 5/4 while the rest of the band plays in 6/8, so I wonder if that part didn't make it into "The Grudge" (which is mostly 5/4) and he decided to use it here. The hi-hat pattern sounds like it would line up perfectly with Maynard's "Let go, let go" chant.
