    You are much younger than me, but even at your age, I would not have chosen the kind of clothes or patterns that you have done. We have different taste, that's all! But I am learning so much about why you're making the decisions you're making, and that is something I can apply to my own wardrobe, which is badly in need of a refresh. So thank you very much. I'm pleased I found your channel, and look forward to hearing more of what you have to say about clothes.

      I’m 61, and I agree, I wouldn’t have chosen the same items, colors or patterns, either. Also, I like a more coordinated, matching look, I don’t like many of her combinations. But, I get a lot of value from Fernanda’s channel, her principles, analysis and processes work for all styles and ages.

    Hi, I feel the same about certain clothing pieces, worked in the past, doesn't suit me anymore. I'm over 50 & have pieces up to 10 years old. I buy new & thrifted & my style seems to evolve every year lol...also I'm a silver sister so colors are evolving with my hair. Thanks for wording it so perfectly☺

      @@vazq_Fernanda true. I'm not always on trend but I do follow some trends. I did the pants over jeans a couple years ago but over it lol... I did keep a couple tunics for my jeggings. I've added leopard heels for those. I'm updating & decluttering shoes & clothes. I've added neutrals, pencil skirts, silk blouses & 2 blazers. Some colors clash with my hair now, so I have to watch out for that. Thanks for the compliment❤

    I really appreciate how practical/honest you are about how difficult it can be to find exactly the ‘right’ pieces - and how to make things work! Some people make it seem like this should be effortless (or like you should be able to shop your closet for everything you need, which is pretty impractical for people trying to transition from owning a lot of stuff that doesn’t mix and match [like myself!]). Thanks for your videos and your help!

    • @vazq_Fernanda
      @vazq_Fernanda  4 роки тому

      It's not impossible but if you really care about quality, ethics, materials, etc. it can take quite some time! I did start shopping my closet (I still do at the beginning of putting together a capsule) but sometimes there is just have a gap you need to fill. It gets easier with practice, I promise!

    Choosing things I love but that also serve me is a struggle right now. A little over a year ago I moved into a dream job that functions in more of a professional setting. So I transitioned from very casual wear (think, working a local coffee shop and tourism and craft-sales type of wardrobe) to needing office appropriate items. I still am not sure I have it down. I definitely have an appropriate wardrobe for work but I'm not sure it matches the "dress for the job you want" code, sometimes I think even though it is passable it's still a little too casual. But it's difficult when I really love the "hippie vibe" kind of style. Then for my outside work wardrobe I would love to be all cute and girly but my hobbies and free time mainly include hiking and horseback riding (western casual trail riding at that, not English arena work with the fashionable breeches and blazers and boots). So casual dressed and skirts and shorts don't really serve me even though I love them. I have a LOT more clothing than I really need just because I haven't been able yet to let go of some of the pieces I love even though they don't serve me that well. I mainly have just been trying not to buy anymore things that don't serve me as well and just wear out the ones I already have. I guess as I whittle down my wardrobe that way it will be easier to just not replace some of those items.

    • @vazq_Fernanda
      @vazq_Fernanda  4 роки тому +2

      Totally get it! It seems like your lifestyle really demands different items of clothing, so its hard to pair down, but you seem to have a good grasp of what you like. I think the fix is easier than you may imagine. For your corporate stuff, I think the quality of the items really dictated the dress code. You can have a simple tank top and chinos and a pencil skirt and if it fits great and the quality is good, a bit of jewelry will do the trick to make it look amazing. And similarly for your casual wardrobe, what if you look for tops and accessories that have that hippie vibe you like? Flowy tops or items with very girly details like small flower prints? A few items can make a big difference. You just gave me an idea for a video, so thank you!

    My spring and summer capsule has white, many shades of blue and green, and a few pops of pink. It's very colorful and cheerful! On the other hand, my wardrobe for the colder months is 90% neutral pieces: black, navy, gray white...with deep red and blush pink as accents. I'm planning to incorporate shades of purple as I replace old pieces because I've noticed I get tons and tons of compliments when I wear violet-magenta-fuchsia tops.

    • @vazq_Fernanda
      @vazq_Fernanda  4 роки тому

      Those both sound lovely! I would love to see it. I feel like I'm still trying to figure out color - I tend to gravitate towards blacks and greys or more muted tones, but I think those don't always work best for me. And I also like the colors in my wardrobe to reflect the seasons. Is that strange?😅

    • @irairod5160
      @irairod5160 4 роки тому

      @@vazq_Fernanda Not strange at all! I have a good collection of pieces that do not leave my closet, ever, because I wear them year-round, especially for work. All of those are, unsurprisingly, neutrals. But then, I swap "seasonal" colors in and out. Red is my power color, so I always include a little bit of it in my wardrobe, but while my summer reds are radiant and bright, my winter reds are deeper and more shaded, leaning burgundy. Same with the blues and greens. In spring and summer they are either light or vibrant (chambray, sage green, French blue, cobalt, emerald) but in autumn and winter they are darker and moodier: teal, peacock, deep olive, sapphire, forest, mallard, Aegean, indigo...I also replace the light "driftwood" and "misty" grays I wear in the warmer months with dustier and more "blackened" shades, like "charcoal", "slate", and "pewter". This keeps my "personal palette" cohesive but allows me to reflect the change of seasons in my wardrobe, which in turn helps me remain excited about owning a smaller collection of pieces.

    • @vazq_Fernanda
      @vazq_Fernanda  4 роки тому

      This is SO smart. I'm still trying to figure out my skin undertone - sometimes it feels like it's warm and sometimes cool, and based on that what shades look best. I feel like I'm getting closer! Maybe one day I'll get to where you are.

    • @irairod5160
      @irairod5160 4 роки тому

      @@vazq_Fernanda Thank you for the reply! If you feel warm sometimes, and cool other times, may I suggest you might have a very subtle olive undertone, i.e. blue AND yellow, just beneath your skin? That was precisely my conundrum for many years! I can definitely see yellow on the surface of my skin, I tan easily, I'm Latina, and I don't have that obvious rosy-pink look that "cool" skin has, so I assumed all my life I was warm...but colors like rust, orange, caramel brown, burnt yellow, chartreuse, ocher, taupe, ivory, and tomato red bring out all the imperfections on my skin and make the area around my eyes and mouth look dark and almost bruised, so the warm colors were never flattering. On the other hand, royal blue, emerald green, steel gray, navy, sunflower yellow, sapphire, optic white, purple, and cool reds make my skin and eyes look alive and healthy, and lipsticks in mulberry, plum, pinky nude, dusty rose, and blue-reds are way more flattering than brown, apricot, peach, warm red, and beige nudes. Check these 2 videos, even though these ladies disagree on whether or not olive is always a cool undertone, they might help you determine if indeed having that "blue+yellow" running under the surface might be the reason why deciding on what colors suit you best has not been as straightforward as it is for other people. ua-cam.com/video/uEYWhFYTEcE/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/y7S28cO5Zu4/v-deo.html Enjoy!

    I keep trying to use a capsule, but it just doesn’t seem to work for me. I’m a preschool teacher and it’s so hard to balance professionalism with the heat of North Carolina, taking kids outside, possibility of clothes getting ruined with art supplies, spending a lot of time on the floor or knealing, etc. Also, I don’t re-wear clothes in the same weak because there are so many germs rubbed all over me each day and I also perspire in the heat. I still love your videos though!

      Oooh interesting.. You just gave me an idea for a video. I can basically wear the same thing over and over again without much fuss, but what if you did a 45 piece capsule? OR, what you can do is create a year-round capsule of just your basics and then enhance seasonally or by occasion. I'm gonna make that video for you. Stay tuned!
