Beautiful blending of instruments and vocals in a sophisticated engaging jazz-like performance. I’m lying in bed watching and listening to this, feeling like I’m in a basement jazz club sitting at a small round table sipping on a smokey bourbon. I don’t want it to end.
My husband and I keep listening to this over and over. You-all are incredibly gifted. Thank you for creating a piece of Heaven with your music. Love it!
amazing.. one of the nicest things I've seen in a long time.. I was starting to loose hope with Tiny desk after the more ego than talent fest of the last 6 months but this is right back on track.. but why only one song and 5 mins... I neeed more.. ;8)
You all are amazing and a breath of fresh air! It’s encouraging to see such decent and talented young people coming together to share God given talents with beautiful and family- friendly music.
Ayoo you guys are on UA-cam! The repeating motif totally makes this song memorable... and the blending style of Joe's silky folk/bluegrass tones with Ben's ethereal, fearless harmonization and Silas' present-but-blended fills give it not the stereotypical "band sound" but a clear union of different musicians who are forces of nature in their own right. You throw the voices of Carver and Lily on top of that and you feel like you're listening to the musical power of a lot more people than there are. There's musicians who are past professional in skill, but get together with other musicians who are very similar to themselves. They end up fitting the same texture and form as other bands in their genre because they've already decided what they're going to be. There's also bands that you listen to and say "I don't know what that is, and I don't think that matters, anyway. Give me more of that." Young Original is one of those bands. "The beauty of any music form is that there are a lot of variations to be explored. As soon as you become a die-hard anything, be it jazz or bluegrass or whatever, you are letting someone make a puppet out of you, and you’re depriving yourself of a whole world of music." -Tony Rice
Theoretically it could come in handy for one of those critically acclaimed music reviewer website things, except I’m not actually a critically acclaimed music reviewer. Oh well, maybe NPR will get a clue.
This has been on repeat for me. We have a new generation of Punch Brothers over here people. You guys really created something from the highest realms of creativity and ingenuity.
