MY HONEST OPINION OF E-BIKES...

- I have been riding E-bikes for the last 6 years and decided that it was time to share my honest opinion about battery powered bicycles...
Since EMTB become a thing it has been super controversial which often happens when a new thing comes along but slowly over time the "E BIKE HATERS" have disappeared as these incredible bikes have been accepted.
In this video I am using my Haibike ALLMTN 10.
I hope that you enjoy the video! :)

I think it’s fantastic that you and some of the other very skilled YT riders are getting into and supporting e-bikes. In the US there is still a fair amount of snobbery toward e-bikes, it’s annoying.
Yeh here in the UK where its slower trails and shorter decents e bikes are now just as common as normal bikes, I only use e bikes now just because I get in double the fun in half the time
They are super popular over here! Hopefully it will be the same for you guys soon!
I'm not a snob about it, but I do very much resent being told by the EMTB marketing machine--of which I must unfortunately count Tom as a member--that I should be dissatisfied with the human-powered bike I already have and love. It's especially annoying when you consider that the environmental cost of an ebike is worse than a regular bike (even aside from the sheer waste of buying a new item when your old item still works fine). If you like your ebike I'm happy for you, but don't try to make me feel inferior for making different choices than you.
@@mattgies that's an odd take. I don't recall anyone suggesting that you HAVE to buy an EBike and that you should be dissatisfied with your regular bike. Tom certainly didn't say that and I've never read that anywhere. I have several bikes, a couple E-bikes and a couple non. I love them all and have fun no matter what I'm riding.
@@Scomelbasses Literally every advertisement or advertorial is saying that, whether literally or by implication. A UA-camr doing a video about how much they love the product that their sponsor gave them is absolutely an ad (whether they officially declare it by checking the box, or not).
I’m a 62 year old ex trials, enduro and mx rider… EBike are a must have for me… I got rid of my Haibike fatty this year and I’m waiting to buy a 2024 nduro 8 … it’s all about Ohllins shocks… but thank you for such a great post and your honesty… and tell your Mrs she used one of her life’s not getting wiped out by you!
Out of curiosity why the 8 over the 10 whe. U can pic them up for nearly the same prices?
Way to cheerlead the eebs!
Last year, we went to Bentonville, Arkansas to ride their famous trails. Our last two days there, we rented e-mountain bikes, and fell in love with the entire concept. It's a bit like having a tailwind following you everywhere. That said, in my home state, we're about 1 month away from having the rules restricting e-mtbs on mountain bike trails revised to allow them access - it's taken years to change decision makers' minds and get the policies changed. But, it can be done if you're persistent, as e-mtbs (class 1 assist only) don't hurt the trails any more than a regular bike. My only beef with e-mtb's is that the motors cannot be easily serviced at home, and obtaining things like replacement seals, gears, circuit boards, etc. is quite challenging. The industry is making some fantastic bikes, but falling on their faces in regard to living with these beasts and being able to wrench and repair em.
Got my first e-bike specialized sl …. I won’t be going back to a normal bike I love it ❤❤❤❤
After watching your videos on the ebikes I went a bought an haibike allmtn 4, 2 week ago and what a game changer for when I go to Wharncliffe woods and do plenty of lap that I wouldn't do on your analog bike 👌👍
Glad you’re loving it! 🤟
I’ve been riding the eBay for two years now. I’ll never ever ever ever ever go back to a regular pedal bike. You’ll probably find is that you’ll get stronger and you’ll back the power on the motor the assistant you get and you’ll start to feel like it’s almost like a regular real bike.if you have time, there’s no question you will ride more miles
Iv just bought my 1st ebike, iv not mountain biked for years so im super excited, especially after watching this.
I got my ebike in September last year. Wouldn’t be without it, every ride is just fun!
Some thoughts from the other side. I am trying really hard to love my ebike. To give some background, I am a mountaineer that dabbles in MTB, but it's not my main hobby. I'm not really a jumper/laps kind of guy and prefer big loops with varied views, but I do bike park days 2-3 times per year. I have done full mountain routes such as Snowdon, Helvellyn, Skiddaw and descents like Jacobs ladder in the peaks - I first did that on a £400 hardtail. Later I moved on to a 120mm full suss trail bike. When getting an ebike, I went for the Haibike nDuro 6 to cope better with the big mountain days and hopefully help me a bit on the descents. I have repeated Snowdon and Skiddaw in the eMTB. There were still parts of the ascent, I had to push, but it was a lot less than with the non assisted bike. Going from 120mm to 180mm of travel and a longer slacker bike did not give me balls of steel. I still had to get off and walk some of the descent on Snowdon. I find the length an issue back home in tight woodland trails. The weight when trying to hop, or lift the bike is also an issue. I have a skinny runners build and the bike is more than a third of my body weight. It's not all bad, on Winter muddy ascents it was great! I think, for me, it is possibly a case of the wrong ebike for my use. I probably should have got a light weight / lower power bike. I do a lot more XC than I do mountain routes. However, when I bought mine, they were a lot more expensive. They have got cheaper, but there is still a premium for lightness. I do think the Lyke would suit me, but taking the hit for depreciation on my nDuro and the increased price of the lyke is a bitter pill to swallow. Like many things, emtbs are not always good, not always bad and more often somewhere in the middle. My main takeaway is try it out before buying. I got mine during Covid when that wasn't an option and probably made the wrong choice.
First full sus arrives at the weekend. Haven't ridden in a long time but you, Kara and Sam got me back into it. (Funnily enough, watched a video of you and same doing the same double at the tunnel just yesterday)
Sick! Enjoy it dude!
Im pushing 40, had my right leg rebuilt after a bad motorcycle crash, and work a lot of hours. I'm definitely getting a e bike soon as my mountain bike hasnt seen the light since covid times.
I got gen 4 trek rail 9.8. What a beast of a bike
your videos are very good! and your camerawoman is very brave. The electric bike is a very fun accessory but it is good to alternate with a normal bike. A hartail is ideal according to conditions.
Thank you very much! 🤟
Loved my Allmtn 12, now on an Nduro 8fr. You need to try one.
Having ridden a lot over the years (35 years) on mountain bikes (mostly cheap) I recently had a chance to go out and spend a day on a hired eMTB... had a blast already saving for what will be my next bike. Don't think I can afford a full sus but hopefully I can get something good. :)
Next time I am thinking about trying something horrible I'm going to ride up to it and just say "that's it then"
Easiest fix!
very good Tom manejas la all montain 10 como si no hubiera gravedad, yo tengo la misma ebike pero lo que no tengo es tu técnica😂...
My honest opinion, is social media, has too many centrists, that have a need to post their opinion. But everybody wants the comfort of knowing they have the same opinion. My opinion.
Hello mate I’m on my mums phone all your videos are soo good and really just great content also where are these dirt jumps cuz they look mega
Danbury common!
Nice assessment brother. E Bikes are not for lazy people, they actually enhance the quality of your ride
They are lol
@@kazpietras5077 lol, jealous much?
First. Sick vid as always ❤
Legend!
I hate this kinda content...bikes and ebikes can exist and you can like both, either, or none. So tired of the conversation. Let us ride bikes. Who gives a crap.
Sick video dude!
Thanks!🤟
What's a foot? Kara!!!!!!! ?
haha
😝😝😝
Saw your first outing on the AllMtn 10 and instantly fell in love, it’s a thing of beauty. It’s hanging on a steady rack in my garage, n yes all because of u
Amazing stunt.
Thanks for honest opinion.
Can the batteries be removed and charged?
soo funny when you have the camera on ur face and it like makes your face wired haha
😂😂😂
"If you dont like the same things as me, you are wrong!" "Blue is my fav color" "Nope...not a chance. It is red, the same as mine, ya dunce!" Like...ok? But I still prefer blue.
Hating ebikes doesn't make you a better cyclist, either.
I Like You’re Videos ❤
Takes her to the woods to have fun 😅 we'll wait
Kara is a beast now!!!
Ajd sow gud bro.😮😮😮😮.
I always love seeing the big drops and trials riding stuff you do Tom, never a dull moment..
I hope you got Kara a nice coffee and cake after scaring her. Her monster truck over the logs was pretty good actually. 😎👍 Wheelies upstairs, super cool. Loved it.
Brilliant. Cheers, mate!
wish i could afford an eeb
They are game changers electric yes normal bikes are also fun you don’t have to have an E bike no one is forcing you unlike cars being forced to drive arcade cars that have no value and are disposable after a few years go get one and feel the vibe 👍😀
Where abts is that woods I wanna go
Tony Hawk MTBiker...........and that girl man, she's really trying to destroy that chainwheel.
How fast can go E Bikes in the UK ??
Legal e-bikes are restricted to 15.5 mph. It’s joke we should be allowed a few more mph
They go as fast as you can peddle once assist runs out. 👍😆
en spain 25 km/h en EEUU 32 km/h
I love my ebike so much i hardly ride my mtb anymore.
Lazyy
I bet it feel amazing ride a 10k bike.
You can get them for 3k stop complaining 😂
It sure does
I was there today bro
Sick!
THATS TWO FOOT! what’s a foot?
I love my ebike 😊
Model bike please)))
They're all WAY TOO EXPENSIVE....simple...!!
Please get an Nduro 8 . Zero professional reviews on these
Love ur vids bro keep it up but Cara shouldn’t be sponsored
Bike linda 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Ebikes are for old people, change my mind.
I’m sure you can have fun at any age!
Pedal bikes are for poor people who don't lift.
Or they are for people who want to buy them and ride them?
Keep walking your bike up the hill or going 3 mph i bet its awesome man 😂
Sometimes the people I ride with leave early coz their Shimano motor fails for the umpteenth time.
My 12 year old rides a Trek Rail 5 and loves it !
Means we can hit 5-7 laps instead of 2-3 laps. Similar effort, power and calories burnt, just more laps in a similar ride time. So, win, win 😊
