I love watching a guy who knows what he's doing, working alone. Great job.
What channel is that? That sounds interesting!
Nice work. I'm learning from you. I seen other videos of people and I like your technique better. Thanks for making.👍
Glad to help
Very impressive getting that garage door header up alone
You make it look so easy. I know that when I try to do what you did, I would foul it up and need to start over from scratch.
I’ve literally built a couple hundred garages…I’ve got a bit of a head start!
Pretty cool thanks for having us 🙏👊🏼🇺🇸
Good to learn something new every time watching how you work. Great Job! Thanks a lot for posting here!
Thank you for watching!
Great job. Nice neighborhood with deep setbacks.
Yeah, that neighborhood had great lots.
Looks good from my perspective.
Perfect!
I’d probably go to prison if I try this in California on my property😂
I can’t even imagine the hoops you gotta jump through to build out there!
That is more sad than funny.
Why?
@@bramjam5352 democrats
@@bramjam5352im not from the us but judging from different youtubers/videos, california has very strict regulations/building code.
I just got an estimate to add a master bed and bath to my house as an addition and it was $230k! I just can't imagine it being that much for something this size. Obviously this is a garage, but still I was floored by the price.
Remodeling costs are going insane
Hahaha- yep, i can't wait to see your smiles when you pick up the 60v circ😂😁
I've been using the 60v DeWalt and the 36v Makita and Love them, the only corded circ i have in the trailer is the 10¼ Milwaukee, and that's gonna change to a Makita with the next deck or timber frame job i get🤪
So cool! Great job 👏🏽
Thank you!!
It's a joy to watch you work. I'm going to be doing a california roof addition soon, but vaulted. The scariest part for me is how everything ties in around the fashia and of course making it water tight. I suppose there are a few approaches I'll have to work with my engineer.
Good job
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
i wish i was there working with you so i can learn a thing or two. great video❤
Working alone has its advantages and disadvantages cannot blame somebody else...
Thank You for Responding.
Super boulot je vais revoir mon projet avec la jonction des deux toits
Merci 👏
Je t'en prie!
Great video thank you for sharing. Do you have a video showing how to build wrap around eyebrow overhangs on a gable?
I do not, I’ve built them before, but not on video.
👍👍😎✌️🤟 Yes, you do.
I build my own garage 3 years ago and didn't record😅. This way, you call all the shots. Any mistakes or time wasted is on you, no rushing either
That’s exactly why I like working alone now! I had my buddy with me for 15 years and we worked great together, but when he left, all the helpers I tried just effed things up and made me do double work, so I let the last one go and have been basically working alone the last 5 years.
you are a fecking artist....
Me too
2:54 - OSHA approved hard hat.😂😂
He is youtube approved dude. Nobody wears, hearing, eye, protective shoes or hard hats on any of these channels..sadly 😅
Great work, l was thinking why there’s no concrete curb under the bottom plate to prevent the wood from getting water rot from washing down the garage.
I have built them when the concrete had a curb, but rarely, most contractors around here just don’t do it that way.
Another nice build, what size were your rafters and your ceiling joist.
2x6
Screw break. nails bend through the years of the changes. Cool to see this tho
Woah take that back he know what he doing. Not his first rodeo 😂
Are you talking to yourself???

Me: 😂😂 you make centzzz !
My diy adventures:
“I’ll see you on the next video “
Me: I knew it!!😂😂🤙🏽🤙🏽
I’m a glutton for punishment 😂
My I ask was this garage added to the front of the house or the back, my guess would be the front ?
Thanks for the video !
The front
"Thats pretty soild....I think" famous last words
😂
I've always wondered why you don't balloon frame your gable end walls? its a lot less work than having to do all that ladder work after the fact
Stuck in my ways?🤷♂️
I was wondering why the front gable eave or overhang is so small considering how large the eave is on the rest of the house. Is that how it was specified in the plans?
It matched the house, big ol’ eave overhang and zero gable overhang…kinda dumb, but not my call!
Your working in a t shirt has got me jonesing for another summer framing So much...😢
I’m not a fan of working in the heat, but being snowed in and NOT working right now is definitely no fun!
@@MyDIYAdventures ain't that the truth!!
Building in the uk....fat coat, hat and some safety boots and they are knocking up houses...... you'll be fine man haha!
I wonder if it was necessary to remove the shingles?
Leaving shingles and building over them makes no sense to me🤷♂️
About 4 months ago i did a Simular biuld but the Addition on a Manufacture Home was already there the guy that previously biult it put a Flat Roof on the addition with shingles it was the most retarded thing I had ever seen. So I biult a new roof over it almost identical to what you did iwas my first time ever doing a roof like that! However it turned out nice and the lady was Happy with it. I way undercharged on it I charged $3200.00 plus materials.
A great video showing how it’s done brother but please get a helper to hang the garage door headers. Not for you but for your viewers. More than one stress watching how you do it. 🤣🤣
Any idea why there is no Save button on this video? I wanted to add it to a playlist to reference later.
No clue🤷♂️
Is that on a new slab with footings? At first I just thought you were building on a driveway but then saw the different concrete color.
Yep, new slab with footings
what is the rough material cost to build... always good to break that down...
Just for the framing, probably $8k give or take
Was it necessary to remove the roofing shingles?
I’ve never framed over shingles, that’s a terrible idea
Will you gusset the ridge beam junction?
Ah, the collar tie does the job?
I gusset the junctions if they fall between rafters
Screws are way more convenient but doesn't code require nails for the framing?
Structural screws are allowed, GRK makes some.
Great Job, I was a framer, built homes in Miami Florida, however now live in North Carolina. Are you available for hire to help build a garage, I am not as talented as you and I can only work on the weekends, Robert
NC is a bit more of a commute than I can make!
Hey im a young and up and coming carpenter, what formula do you use to find your rafter lengths. I learned in math class to rely on a calculator for quick math and checking work, but what if someone's on a job and the calculator malfunctions how would any measurement be made when to much reliance was on the calculator. No offense to anyone who uses a calculator I just like the old school pencil and paper to be my foundation
I made a video of how I do it, I’m not sure how helpful it is though

Am I to assume the existing slab has no footings…this passes inspection where you are?
Everything has a footing, as required by code.
michael keaton started framing buildings?
That’s a new one!
How long did this take you too build?
6 days or so of actual work, several more calendar days working around the weather.
@@MyDIYAdventuresI have the same question but I was looking before I asked good job on the build I love it
What was your cost to build?
I framed this for a contractor, I’m not sure what it cost the customer
Whats a project like this cost?
The contractor I framed this for charges $50-$60 per square foot for a standalone garage, since this is an addition, it would obviously cost more.
What state is this in?
It’s in the midwest
Could I hire you to build garage in southern Georgia.
I can’t make that commute
@@MyDIYAdventures Darn!!!!!!
I am thinking about solo building a 14x15 garage addition, but I am a small guy, not strong like you. Where are you living? Can you come to build my garage?
You can do it, I’m a small fella myself.
Where is PT 2?
That’s it, it’s all ya get on this one🤷♂️
👍👍👏👏🇧🇪
Belgium?
@@MyDIYAdventures oui, yes 👍
How much do you get paid for these jobs?
This one was $3k
You should have staggered your sheathing.
I did
Cut it twice and it's still to short. Don't worry, shingles cover a lot of Ooops. Hey it looks, marvelous, give yourself a cookie.
👍
You need a new saw blade.
It was new! Maybe the batteries are getting tired.
you should have removed the roof under the addition, and added hip beams.
Why? Just for attic access?

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood ,but against the rulers, against the authorities , against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. strong words but oh so true love all that you do and take the time to show gonna be building a shed in my garden soon and after watching what you achieve on your own I'm kinda embarrassed to make a 14 x 9
