The story about the fallen Mandalorian, whose mask Revan wears is absolutely essential and must be told for everyone to understand why he wore that particular mask. It was a female Mandalorian who spoke against killing millions to her superiors who then in turn stranded her with their victims and killed them all. Revan wears her mask thereafter in battle against the Mandalorians, almost like a ghost from the past. Pretty bad ass story telling, I'm surprised that Disney hasn't yet made a show detailing Revan yet. It's kinda like sitting on a goldmine and not extracting the gold. That sucks.

He was in a deleted scene in Clone Wars, and with the reveal at the end of The Mandalorian, and his name being in the Rise of Skywalker credits, I sense a disturbance in his Canoninity looming

Aside from being unique in general, Revan is also arguably the most interesting and cool character in all of Star Wars. He is quite possibly the only one that truly understands the balance of light and dark.

@@eaton4559 The Knights of the Old Republic games explain a lot about Revan getting his memory wiped and how he is redeemed by the Jedi, if you play all the good choices that is. The games don’t go much into Revan’s backstory before he became a Sith, but the games are super cool. They allow you to make your own decisions, but the correct/canon way to go about it is to have your character be a white male with brown hair and make most or all the good choices in the game.
In the Rise of Skywalker visual dictionary it was revealed that the sith troopers were organised into divisions and each one was given the name of an ancient sith Lord. One of these divisions was 3rd Revan Division. So Darth Revan is in fact now Canon!

I really dont like the retcon that Revan fell to the dark side because of Vitiate's mind manipulation. I much prefer the KOTOR 2 explanation where Revan has his own reasons to "fall". The idea that "Revan never fell" and that he turned on the cause he loved to strengthen it and prepare them for Vitiate, is so much more intriguing than "brainwashed by the emperor"

Revan already was dark-sided when searching for star maps. If anything he was brainwashed after KotOR 2 and that's why he tried to use Forge's droids to eradicate Imperial population

I love how Revan wears the mask of a fallen Mandalorian. 1. It looks fucking gnarly and

I pretty sure the story of that mask is that mask used to belong to a mandalorian who was like "no, stop killing innocent people" And the mandalorian decided to kill that mandalorian along the other random innocent people

For those who don’t know, Darth Revan is now canon, in the new Rise of Skywalker visual dictionary it states that all Sith Trooper Regiments are named after Sith Lords with one being specifically named Revan.

In the mandolorian the blacksmith mandolorian talks about a war between mandolorian and Jedi which I think is what Revan was part of meaning he’s canon
I mean they have had plenty of wars, the surface of Mandalore is how it is, because the Jedi bombarded the shit out of it in a different war. The Jedi are the greatest warriors in the galaxy so it's kind of natural that the Mandalorians who fancy themselves the greatest would try to challenge them, never really worked out for them.

Revan is so good that the rule of two came into play giving the Jedi an advantage against the sith. Adding onto that he could basically solo everyone from the prequels to the sequels and win without the threat of death. He is easily one of the greatest in starwars

Disney axed all of that originally when they took over and many have been wondering how and when they'd tie revan back in

I would love it if Disney made a movie, movie series or just a tv series on the old republic. Like it can be at any point. There’s just so much they can do with Revan and they can even do something about the Star forge. Idk every trilogy has some kind of super weapon and a station that can make infinite ships is perfect super weapon material

I always thought the novel added some really cool lore with how revan took the mandalorian leaders mask (which had the significance of the dark saber) and buried it in a secret sith ice cave to make sure the mandalorians could never rebuild. Then the way he vaporizes a sith LORD is crazy

Star Wars as a whole needs this on the big screen! However, it would need a genius director to tell this story properly. Get George Lucas and Dave Filoni together on this and I think it could be great!

@@jordanfeliciano115 The problem is that Vader can never be as strong as other siths because palatine made sure of that
Revan actually has a much stronger struggle than Vader and is a more complex character that showed flaws in Jedi teachings. While Vader was corrupted by the Emperor using Vader's wife as his weak point and redeemed himself only when emperor betrayed him anyway and only when his son was about to be corrupted, Revan joined the dark side out of necessity. He was a person that would wage war to save the others and if Revan didn't join the war, the galaxy would have fallen. Basically, Revan made a sacrifice and turned to the dark side and started using dark powers of the force to stop a much greater evil and that is what jedi teachings will never accept or even understand.

You cannot choose your color, the crystal chooses based on the wielder. Purple means he uses both the dark and light side of the force but I’m benefit of the light like Jedi master Mace Windu, Green represents power in the force more than anything else, and blue means skillful in lightsaber combat. Red represents a bleeding crystal for the sith. Revans saber was green until he came back from the dark and it became purple because of his knowledge in all aspects of the force.

Great overview! Definitely one of the greatest Jedi, Sith, and stories in the Star Wars universe.
This is so interesting I never heard of Darth Revan, he was never in any main stream Star Wars films nor mentioned. This is a pretty well put together and deep analysis on Revan’s importance in the Star Wars franchise, great job!
Before y’all say revan and his will is OP, Darth maul used his rage to survive being split in half and Darth Varder used his rage as well to survive being cut & burnt. Ones will can prevent death. Amazing
No one considers Revan's will to be OP. He's Revan. He's supposed to be OP. The whole point is that he's an OP character. But he's an OP character who experienced both a hero's journey and a villain's journey even after becoming OP. Revan is much like Luke in Return of the Jedi. Powerful, but his power is not important to the story and instead his choices are what makes a difference.

They seriously need to do a movie on Darth Revan and Darth Nihilus. Because they are both so awesome and have absolutely fascinating story arch’s. Maybe they could do a movie about Starkiller too because he is another great character.
If they do a new Revan story, Revan needs to get a better ending then what he got in his book with the SWTOR story
He should stay alive as something beyond a simple force ghost like bendu who is also in the middle
Playing KOTOR, I was always under the impression that Revan and Malak found something so utterly terrifying out there, that they saw it as absolute necessity to conquer the galaxy in order to unite it against a much bigger threat. It would make sense to draw on the dark side for bonus hit points. It it easy to see how Malak could get sidetracked and decide to continue conquering the galaxy for the sake of conquering it, bringing him and Revan to blows.
Oh well, I guess we have this evil Sith Emperor (shocker!) up the sleeve.
Revan is amazing. Would love to see his own movie or series. I’m the end he was willing to do what needs to be done for the best of all. Weather it’s using the light or the dark he was able to find the balance between both.

Can you imagine a trilogy of Revan films? The rise during the Sith war, the fall, then the final confrontation with the Sith Emperor.

I think the beauty of Revan is that he was the force. No matter what side he was on, he was always admired by both Jedi and Sith and the Mandalorian's for any and everything he did for the galaxy. From destroying the Mandalorian's for the war they were in, to then completely respecting him both Jedi and Mandalorian's. Then by destroying an entire political structure of the galaxy when he became a sith and starting to drift away from one power, into teaching it to others to help them of course "the rule of 2". That Darth Bane learned from. To every Jedi that studied Revan and Sith. He always believed in good/balance.

@@cvo7617 Not true. If Mace Windu was on the dark side as well he would not have been allowed on the Jedi Council. Fun fact, literally the only reason Mace Windu has a purple lightsaber is because Samuel L jackson wanted it. I'm sure Lucas films has probably tried to give some "actual" explanation of it, but it was literally just SLJ wanting a purple light saber.

Fun fact if anyone came back to watch this. Revan is infact in the modern disney canon as during a scene at the battle of hexagol, the sith commander was listing off companies of sith troopers and the companies were named after ancient sith, Revan being one of them. If the normal backstory of revan is canon is unknown, but the character and him being a part of the modern star wars universe is infact canotical.
I thought Revan was made cannon when a necklace from the Order of Revan...appeared in The Last Jedi.
