      "If opponent does X, you immediately lose" are badly designed, imo. They should check the condition at the end of your turn, not theirs, so you have at least a chance to counter.

    If you really can't be talked out of suicidally revealing drawbacks that become impossible once your opponent knows about them, here's an alternative: Each game choose between either revealing the drawback, or taking on a secondary challenge from the usual Discord suggestions.

      I feel like the hard core chess people are here watching the show for some kind of actual challenge and show of skill. I personally appreciate it when it happens, but am largely here just for Simp's wacky personality 😂 and I suspect a lot of people are similar to me. So we don't mind when something like that happens

    Dang. "Your pieces cannot move adjacent to where they were" is practically "Lame Duck with extra steps, except you can still castle."

    The 2nd opponent had a hard drawback of "you can't move your king"
    ...the 3rd Simp drawback was you can't move any piece one square...which includes your king. It's the same drawback but harder.

      Technically you'd be able to castle, so it's not *strictly* worse, but you are right that the rest of it more than makes up for that

    I had a suspicion when I played that one opponent who immediately revealed their drawback that it might have been you! And yes, I even remember that final blunder... (I was the "Can't move your king" guy)

      The second guy had a drawback that was significantly easier than simp's third drawback (note that Simp couldn't move his king).

      The first guy had a ridiculously tough drawback too; if Simp hadn't revealed his own drawback, it would've been an easy win because it basically boiled down to "your first check must be checkmate".

      You'd have to define how the knight moves then. Is it 2 along 1 across? Or 1 across and 2 along? Or 1 straight and then 1 diagonal (or in the other order)?

      I can see it making sense, as long as it's not revealed. Aggressively provoke an early bishop and knight trade, and then you basically don't have a drawback until late game where both rooks get developed.

    leaps and bounds is far sighted with movement limitation, making the king and pawns unable to move, making it almost literally impossible to win with it due to a buffed version of a already difficult drawback.

    For game one's opponent: seeing such a devastating drawback revealed and not having the courage to reveal back makes them a coward. Which means Simp won game one in the way that matters most: not being a coward.

    I'm not sure you would have lost that first game if your bishop touched the opponent's bishop. The drawback said _"your opponent_ has pieces adjacent..." so I imagine your pieces don't factor in.

    Abstinence, You Best not Miss, Eye for an Eye, and Bloodthirsty weren't simply restrictions. They're alternate loss conditions. 4/6 of the drawbacks in this video alone are "if X then game over"
    why.

      Personally I think bloodthirsty and eye for an eye were OK drawbacks, you best not miss is hard (since you can't check until checkmate) and abstinence is just stupid because the opponent can just randomly do a thing and win.

    6:38 restriction on pawn capture looks wrong. As for me, adjacent means orthogonally connected, so diagonal moves should be allowed.

      You probably use either Pythagorean or Manhattan distance.
      Anyway, that would mean that Bishops would be exempt from the challenge. So, I'd still use Adjacent, but add ", not pawn," between Piece and Adjacent. Because you can't even _en passant_ under the rule as written.

      this isn't a fun challenge idea :/ basically no 100 elo game lasts into the end game. This also doesn't force simp to do any interesting work around throughout the middle game. The idea of a bishop knight checkmate is cool but just doesn't fit this channel.

    i’ll be the one to say that your math is wrong, as a win rate is calculated by the number of wins divided by the number of total games (your win rate is 66%)
    And I’m also Asian, henceforth our ability to be right by default cancel out

      Mathematically you are correct, but you failed to apply the AMAF (Asian Mom Adjustment Factor) for reporting percentages reflecting personal performance, as your mom taught you to never come home with anything less than 100%, you raise all denominators to the power of 0.
