    I saw another video of a woman talking about contractions. She described them as “strong and effective, not painful”.

      Yes... whatever positive words you want associate with contractions are great... just not pain or painful!

    My mom has the same technique in all her births - she grew up as an extremely competitive endurance athlete, and so was already very familiar with general pain management, but when it came to birth, she noticed that it helped to say and think " oh wow, this is an INTERESTING sensation!! " rather than "painful".
    I had a track and field coach who didn't let any of us say anything like " I'm in pain " or " this hurts too much " ( though, of course if you started with " I think I'm injured" then you could say anything you needed to to describe your situation and get help ) and it worked really well.
    Later, when I joined a rock climbing team, our coaches banned the phrase " I can't " - we had to be creative and say things like " I don't seem strong enough to yet " or " it's out of my wingspan " instead of " its too hard" or " i cant reach that " - it really helped, mentally.

    I'll be giving birth in less than two weeks unless baby decides to overstay. This was so calming for me and I love the tips. Thank you.

    You have such an incredible soul, I am 25 weeks pregnant with my first child and I hope I can carry the confidence and strength you established in you through my labor and birth. Unfortunately where I live home births are incredibly expensive and not covered by insurance so we are going through a OB/GYN midwife and hospital birth center, I'm terrified of any intervention and wish it could be just myself, my partner and a doula/midwife. I've been watching all your videos to help me find the strength to carry the same energy into this process that I would through a midwifery. I can't thank you enough.

    I'm due with my 5th in about 2 weeks and I have never been more afraid. All my others where unmedicated but with this one I'm so so so scared. How do I control the fear? With ALL my previous births I feel like the doctor and nurses are just yelling a me. I havent had one good experience. Am I allowed to tell them how I want my birth to go?

    I had a similar journey. My first birth was a hospital birth with an epidural. The snow ball effect was completely true for me as well. My 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th births were gentle, natural births attended by midwives -- one hospital, one at home, and 2 at free-standing birth centers.

    What is the music playing in the background? I found it very relaxing lol, I would like to save it for my birth playlist, I’m due in 12 days!

    I wish I would found this before I had my baby, but I still watched it. Honestly I would describe contractions similar to your stomach cramping when having to poop. I gave birth on December 18, and was induced no pain meds. During a contraction I would just close my eyes and breathe through it. I also had music playing in the background which helped me focus on getting through the contractions.

    Thank you, I got a few week till my 3rd opportunity to give birth, and I got a very ugly 1st experience in a private hospital, a natural birth is a public one after 2o months, and now after almost 4 years will have the 3rd one, hope it will be as beautiful as I imagine. Thanks for your calm voice, for your kind advices, and know for sure I will apply it. Also thanks for all the video you have, you are a great person, you moved something in me.

    Thank you for this :) I've always been a little fearful of giving birth. However, I feel like I am in tune in enough with my body, and my mind, that I will be able to use your advice to the fullest in four months when I welcome my first baby.

    I love this, thank you! I’m having my third son in September. This will be my first natural delivery in a birthing center, so I’m really excited. I’m going to be ordering my Bengkung Binding Set in a couple of weeks. ☺️

    Im due in Sept with my first... And thinking of going with epidural out of fear... Everyone i talk to talks me into it more and more... I just wish ONE person would talk to me about going about this another way...

      Don't let other women's experience interfere with what you want. I had so many women tell me "just do epidural, why do you want to be in pain" epidural does more harm than good and your body is designed to give a natural birth, believe in yourself!

    I've watched your video multiple times before bed the last few days to prepare me for my 3rd child. My first 2 were with epidurals but I really wanted a natural birth this time and have been doing a lot of research for pain management. Although, I'm still giving birth in a hospital, I'm optimistic about the outcome choosing to go drug free. Thank you!!!
    Question?:
    What's a great app you could suggest with calming music like what's on your video?

    • @WillowWisteria
      @WillowWisteria  6 років тому

      Hi there! So I used a mixture of a playlist that I put together ahead of time and a Pandora station that I made for yoga. The easiest way is to go to Pandora and either find a station like 'Yoga', 'Spa', 'Reiki' that seems to resonate with you or you can make and refine your over by 'thumbs upping' the songs that you like and it will start playing songs that are like the ones you liked. Or, if you've already purchased relaxing music, make your own playlist. Just remember, you were made to do this! Your body was made to birth your babies so trust that you can handle it and you will! Best of luck to you! Wishing your a peaceful and calm natural birth experience :)

    So did you decide to go without an IV as well when you were giving birth in the hospital?

    • @WillowWisteria
      @WillowWisteria  5 років тому +4

      With my first, I had an IV. My labor was 36 hours and threatening a C-section (because I was so uncomfortable in the hospital it stalled labor) and I presented to the hospital bleeding a lot and they wanted to make sure I was supported (it was just my cervix dilating super fast). With my second, I didn't let anyone touch me. I had as zero intervention of a birth as you possibly could in a hospital. That's how I knew that I wanted to have home birth with the next. Hope that helps!

    I think am in early labor for days I practice to repeat the sentence this is going to end and it make me just forget about all the pressure and the pain as they say..just thinking that it will end and everything has an ending even pain makes it way easier and this is my second baby and my first home birth no medications all natural just like our ancestors
