Excellent video! Building a 69 GTO with a Currie 9" and the same Willwood brakes. Great explanation and walkthrough! You answered all my questions. Thanks!
Hi Nathan. I hope you're doing well in this crazy time. I was between Wilwood brakes and Baer brakes. I ended up choosing Wilwood because of their reputation. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I haven't been able to get out do any detecting, I might do something today. It depends on the weather, it's raining here. All the best
Hi Peter. Thanks for the kind words. I started putting the suspension kit together. I should have a video coming out every 7 to 10 days on the suspension kit. I hope your car is coming along. I've been slow with work so I've been spending some time working on the car. I hope you're doing well, All the best..
@@classicrewind2715 will be good to see the suspension work. The old impala was supposed to be restored, its the first car I've rebuilt in reverse . Takes twice as long , this thing was a death trap , they had bits of wire in the rear brakes and they were locked up. Battery cable through the extractors was a joke. Its coming along ok but next time I'll empty the garage and strip it down to properly rebuild it. Told my wife to never send her dad t o look at cars ever again. Wasn't one good part left in it even the springs were weakened. Have a good weekend mate.
Great video. Exactly what I was looking for. Could you tell me if you ended up with any end play on your axles after you torqued the bearing retainer plate down. I had a little too much end play so I took out the flange gasket and still have a little.
Hi, I did not have any problems with play. The bearing plate actually bent a little when I was tighten it. The bearing was sticking out a little. All the best.
Thanks for the video, very informative! I have the same kind of brake kit and I have given it some thoughts about how to change parking brake shoes next time without having to take out the shaft again. How do you do that? throught the hole?
That is a good question. You should not have to take your shaft out to replace the emergency brakes... What you need to do is remove the rotor that way you will access the emergency brakes. You would need a spring compressing tool to remove the little spring that holds the breaks in.. All the best.
Whats the difference between 2.5 off set and (2.75/2.81) off set i have the Exact same set up(140-7141) and this video is Exactly what i need i just dont know what offset means
It's hard to explain. it's the distance from the axle to the face of the rear. When you buy your Wilwood brake kit. it should have come with the flang. you have so have to tell them what you have when you order the kit. I hope this helps. If you still have a problem go to the Wilwood website and search offset. All the best
I got the same kit put unfortunately one of the rotors was machined improperly so waiting on a replacement. Looks good otherwise! What did you do for brake lines?
@@Luke-jw6zn Actually turned out to be Currie's fault with the axle. For the parking brakes make sure that you re-adjust everything after the first pull because the cables stretch once.
Im getting a curry 9’ rear end for my 69 Camaro. The flanges are for “New style big bearing/ torino”, but the axles feature a 5 x 4 .75 bolt pattern. So I’m confused because I have to use Torino hubs, and if I get a wilwood rear disc brake kit for a Torino, the rotors may not line up a because of the GM 5 x 4.75 bolt pattern. Or does bolt pattern not matter for rear discs and hubs. I’m new to these things.
Bolt pattern definitely matters. If I were you. I would call Wilwood and ask them what they suggest because of your Torino bolt pattern. I can't remember off the top of my head if Wilwood compensate for that bolt pattern or not. I will have to check my rotor. It might have additional holes. Hope this helps. I'll get back to you if the rotor changes. All the best
Go to the 10 minute Mark of the video. The rotor has a bunch of holes. It should be able to compensate your spacing for your bolt pattern. All the best
Hi Brian, when you buy the kit you have to put it all together. The third member, and the axles came all separate. I bought mine with 3.70 gears All the best.
Sorry for the late reply. I don't know what kind of breaks you're looking for. So I cannot answer that question. if you have a specific question. call Wilwood directly and talk to them. Thanks for leaving a comment. All the best

Hi Santa. sorry, for the confusion.. Those are the emergency brake, that you have to install first. the car is going to be a standard transmission. I wanted to make sure I install an emergency brake. I know it's confusing but I thought I put a text in the video explaining that it's an emergency brake system. then the rotor goes on top. I hope I explained it well. All the best Santa, be safe..
