Hey dude huge tip for you... You know how that rode mic is bouncing up and down, you know that bit you screw to tighten it on? It actually has little grooves in it so once you tighten on the mic you can feed the cord through one of those grooves and just like that your mic will stop bouncing and you can keep the mic out of your shots a lot better... Thank Cory Wanner for that one 😉
One question that has been bugging me for a while now - live streaming on gopro 7 black with rode mic. The quality of audio by default decreases in a live stream with the gopro, how much of a difference does the rode mic in a livestream make?

Some extra noise from it but it’s worth it. Great video, I have the head & chest mounts too but use them less.
Thanks a lot for the reply. I forgot to mention how much I love the ability to pull the rubber strap tight around smaller branches etc. for the clamp. You are creating videos with quality that people with over a million subscribers create and you only have 18k what the heck you should have like 3 million subs with all these great videos!
Good presentation. I have found the 1/4 inch mounting system to be very versatile and practical. 1/4 -20 threaded rod, wing nuts, and bolts. 1/4-20 electrical ground clamps. Stuff available in the hardware store is cheaper and faster than many fancy accessories for those with mechanical abilities.
Absolutely Malcolm! The 1/4-20 mount is the best for that very reason! If you can keep some 1/4 inch rods and nuts sitting around, you can put that thing anywhere! Love that idea man, I should be playing with that more often!
I bought the Hero 7 in 2020. I've only really used it 2 or 3 times for Nascar races. I haven't really done much with the clips. But I've got a big trip to Southern Utah and Arizona visiting, hiking, and driving through a few national parks. I bought the 3 in 1 grip and the battery + charger today. I plan on using my camera a good bit on this trip. I'm no vlogger but learning how to do some good casual shots and clips with it would be pretty cool to me.
The Hero 7 is still a really good camera Jacob! I think you're going to be stoked you captured that trip with it. For as small and lightweight GoPros are, they capture some insane footage!
@@DavidManningvlog And as much as I want one of those shots from the side of the car, as I will be a passenger, I think I'll just slightly stick it out the window with my new mount. Great video. Just one tip. You can press the red cable from the Rode videomicro into one of the notches in the tightening screw and the microphone won’t wobble any more.
Quick tip David......the rode videomicro has some indentations in the sides of the screw of it's cold shoe mount that are meant for securing it's cable inside them...that way it keeps the cable secure and in tension and you don't have to worry that much about the shakiness of the mic while you walk!
I got the Hero 7 black for my birthday, I have to admit I'm kinda stupid trying to use it but man that hyper smooth takes out so much of the vibration! Appreciate the support man, stay tuned, I'll be making a GoPro Best Practices video in the near future!
Hey! Love the video and it has been super helpful when considering what accessories to buy. What is the extension piece that you had on order that connects the mic and the cage?
Thank you so much Heather! The last piece I picked up was this guy amzn.to/2XKVusu . It's two pieces that you screw together to give you a bit more height on the microphone. Another sweet tip though that a bunch of people on here told me about was taking the red mic cable and tucking it into the grooves on the microphones screw piece. There's grooves all the way around that you can tuck the cable into so it stops it from bouncing so much! Hope that helps!
David I’m totally glad I found your channel. I just purchased my 7 last weekend. 1st GP! The accessories are overwhelming. But they are one of the reasons I MADE THE DIFFICULT CHOICE over an Osmo Pocket. What I like best is your personality. You could talk quantum theory and it would be funny I’m sure. The only other things I was hoping to see was lighting and carrying/storage Options. I have a Litra cube coming tomorrow and a dual bracket for light and GP7 to use in darker equipment rooms for instructional videos. I’m all in and about to hit that button.
So awesome Kendall! You're going to LOVE the 7! And totally agree on the accessories being overwhelming. There's an entire industry that's just for third party GoPro accessories. Also, so stoked you went with the GoPro over the Osmo Pocket. I think the Osmo Pocket is a few generations away from being a goto camera for vlogging and things like that. As for carrying, checkout my video on the Peak Design Everyday Sling 10L ua-cam.com/video/Htf5Zzz2LbE/v-deo.html I would put that as the best camera/GoPro bag setup to go for. For just the GoPro alone, I like the Amazon Basics case amzn.to/2H0enB1 Super stoked to see how that Litra Cube setup works for you. Let me know if you get a video posted using it!
I just bought my Gpro 7 and headed to Kauai. Love this vid helped me so much. My Sony action cam fell in ocean while kayaking, no bueno. Having trouble removing lense to put into waterproof case. So far I have had no luck. Help anyone. Thank you sir for these helpful hints. You nailed it
Great video! Definitely subscribed! Getting the hero 7 black soon and wanted to get an ideal of all the best accessories to grab with it and this video literally summed it all up! Much love
Just as a heads up, on October 1st we should be getting word on the GoPro 8. You may want to wait until that launches to either decide to get the 8 or get the 7 at a reduced price 👍
So now 399. for the Go Pro 7 , 35.00 for a Luxbell Cage, 50.00 for the Go Pro Audio Adapter and 60.00 for the Rode Microphone. I have been looking at the Go Pro 7 to use on a UA-cam Channel as I am already a world traveler , but you have really broken down the additional costs needed for a Pro-ish set up. You are so good in explanations that I am subscribing to your channel. I was a resident of Hawaii (Oahu) - want to see your Maui footage !
So stoked it was helpful for you Frank! The GoPro can absolutely be used as a stand alone rig without the cage and microphone, but you'll for sure be adding a ton of quality to your videos if you add it on!

Duuuuude! I'm in the same boat and have lost a couple GoPros by trusting the suction mount! Checkout the 19:46 mark where I talk about the Smatree steel tethers. TOTALLY worth having in your bag with a little carabiner for just such an occasion!
@@adventurewithalex3707 Same here. Wouldn't have been a complete catastrophe if it hadn't been for the tailgating car that ran over it. It had actually survived the initial fall.
What my dad did was he took one of those tripod mount bolt screw thingys and he attached it to a magnet to make a magnetic mount that I can connect with the tripod adapter thing.

For just the GoPro alone, I like the Amazon Basics case amzn.to/2H0enB1
Super stoked to see how that Litra Cube setup works for you. Let me know if you get a video posted using it!
Man I'm hungry af I started watching this video wanna go eat but can't stop watching the DAMN video...
Great content!
Hahahaa! That’s a funny ass comment Mr SharK! Thanks for watching man!
You nailed it
You should cover the foamcover to gopro for better audio quality! Just a tip
Nice! Thanks Sigge!
I dont have one yet.. thinking of getting one very soon but when I get it will I know what the foam cover is? I want to have good audio.
the clamp mount works on bikes. I had one on my bike for filming with Discover Wisconsin it worked well
Hi David. I have good news. I was your 5,000th subscriber!!!!🎉🎊🎉
Whoop whoop!!!!
YO! Thank you for the recommendation on the gopole thumb torque screws! Never knew those existed!
They’re magic!!!🙌
I lost my GoPro Hero7 Silver in the ocean when I was surfing the other day and I was so sad.
Noooooooo!!! Maybe all of our GoPros are swimming together somewhere😢
Your videos are super awesome. I see you groing big time. Keep it up.
Thank you so much Jas! Dude, checkout my latest video, I think you could totally use the setup for your motorcycle videos!
So now 399. for the Go Pro 7 , 35.00 for a Luxbell Cage, 50.00 for the Go Pro Audio Adapter and 60.00 for the Rode Microphone.
This guy reminds me of Ben Wyatt from Parks and Rec. No joke.
Luke McKay literally just thinking of this when I started this video lol
Legit get this like once a week! I gotta meet that guy at some point! 🤣
Reminds me of derek from movie step brothers
Because he looks like a nerd just like Ben. Not in a bad way though.
You are very good for this type of videos
Thanks so much! Super kind of you to say!
@@DavidManningvlog you're the best you tuber in this sector for me, i would like to give you an advice: make mainly this type of videos for grow up your channel !
All for blogging with GoPro from Casey Affleck :))) Good video, man.
I have the Bosa little buttonhole microphone with a special in set adapter. Didn't try it, but it looks like adapter from 3.5 to USB but not USB.
45 mins is so short tho. I just got a go pro and im watching a bunch of videos to get more knowledge on go pros, thanks for the video!!!! great explaination so far
Yeah, you definitely need a few batteries for a day out shooting!
Very informative :) great job
Thank you Olga! So stoked it was helpful for you :)
Thanks for the info you provide. Had plan to buy 1.
I love my GoPro.. such a versatile camera... been vlogging on my 7 👌
Crazy good! The most insane thing is that the whole camera is fully pocketable! Your footage on your to-do list vlog looks awesome with it!
This was so incredibly helpful. Just got the hero 7 black but didn’t know where to start for accessories
So stoked Drew! You're going to love that camera, it's incredible!
Lost a GoPro with that suction cup.
It’s good suction cup though. Just don’t forget to wipe the surface before mounting. Learned it through hard way
Duuuuude! I'm in the same boat and have lost a couple GoPros by trusting the suction mount! Checkout the 19:46 mark where I talk about the Smatree steel tethers. TOTALLY worth having in your bag with a little carabiner for just such an occasion!
Mine went flying off my bike, from then I always tie it with a string to something
Jack Shen u couldve used a lighter
@@adventurewithalex3707 Same here. Wouldn't have been a complete catastrophe if it hadn't been for the tailgating car that ran over it. It had actually survived the initial fall.
What my dad did was he took one of those tripod mount bolt screw thingys and he attached it to a magnet to make a magnetic mount that I can connect with the tripod adapter thing.
You know you have to subscribe to a guy that lost 4 gopros in the ocean and two on the car! Gosh I want an exciting life like yours. I just bought my gopro 8 and it's just amazing. Thanks for everything you do !
24:10 ok, I’ll download the video🙃 just kidding, I hit the like button, I loved the video I’m planning on buying and I was searching for videos, this was the only one well explained and with the most useful things I loved it, new sub! 😁👍🏻
Love it Sisters Forever02! So stoked this was helpful, thanks for watching!!! 😃
Great video looking for some secure mounts for more testing conditions ie caving and ice climbing
I would think helmet mount would be a great solution for you!
Subbed and liked. Good video and informative. Thanks!!!
Thanks Robert! Pumped you’re here man!
Great guide, I just bought my first GoPro camera - the Hero7 Black and it is now Accessories shopping time! Thanks!
Stoked this was helpful for you!
I enjoyed this brother. If i can give one tip would be, keep it a little tighter on length 12-15 min on videos of this type . Would love to see a maximize Gopro video
Duuuuude, I tried! That's why I put a table of contents bit in there so people can jump around the video to the part's that they're most interested in! I'll work on it ;)
Simple and Straightforward video , You might also want to try the Quick clip from the GoPro it would be super useful. I seriously pity on those 96 people who have disliked this video . Why on earth would someone dislike it , if you don't like something just skip the video . People full of negativeness.
Hahhaa! Thank you so much Anuragh! I figure I can't please everyone, but I'm always stoked to hear from those that found it useful! Appreciate the comment man!
Just discovered your page I am so glad I did. Look forward to following you and hopefully see those subscriptions going up and up everyday :)
Thank you so much Agudi! Appreciate the support, super kind of you!
