I had 3 different models before finding this one used. I started with a DR and got tired of pushing brush into it. I tried a Valby with Hydraulic feed, but tractor didn't have enough hydraulic capacity to run the feed. This one works great with the hydraulic pump running off of the PTO.
I like the three bearing design on the woodmaxx, but I like the fold up chute on the W.M. Machine. I hear you on pushing the brush in...I have a craftsman 8 HP and it wears me out to produce a few chips. I hate the direct drive with the engine sucking all the leaves and pine needles in, not to mention all the trimming you have to do to even get brush through. It doesn't do very well shredding leaves either, even with the baffle in. My friend has a DR with 18 HP he'll sell me for $300, but I need something bigger. There is a like new wallenstein BX62 an hour from me for $2750, a great deal, but it also runs off the tractor's hydraulics and I have an old IH B414 diesel with no remotes. I can run a remote, I have to shut off my 3 pt hitch lift, so I want one with a self contained hydraulic system. I don't like Woods because of expensive special drive belts, that more or less levels me looking at woodmaxx, woodland mills, and betstco.Betstco is $2250, woodmaxx is $3000, and woodland mills is $3200. Other option is to find a used old Promark 310 or Vermeer 6XX, both seem a little under powered, old chuck and ducks are out there, but they have a lot of repair and maintenance in my price range.
So I had never heard of Valby before and I just went to do a little research. Didn't find a lot of info. They look pretty good, but no pricing listed, and I wonder where they are made?
I like the little one that Simeon over on the Swedish Homstead uses with his little kiote tractor. I notice he has to tie off his pto lever to keep it from jumping out of gear, but it pulls okay. It's made in Poland, but I can't tell the brand. I would like to have an 8" machine just like it; his is a 6"
Very nice wood chipper.thank you for sharing
as much as I like this chipper, the only weak link is it's tendency to plug up when chipping a lot of small softwood branches.
It is not powerful enough
Did you consider other brands or models before buying this one? I like the looks of it, but I am also eying the woodland mills wc88 as well.

What hp is the tractor
B7800, 30hp, nice work horse.
That tractor has 22 hp at the PTO, which is what matters. Min for the chipper is PTO 19 hp so clearly it does well for smaller tractors.
Thank you
You're seriously suggesting this is the best??
It is strugling. It will take for ever to get any serious work done. Thanks
