Big apologies to my Nightwish Army for getting it wrong about Denmark v. Finland - I was pulling from memory and at my age - probably a bad idea. Any way - this is my new #1 song - loved it. Comment, like and sub as you please. You guys are the best.....
I love that you reacted to this! I agree that you are ready to hear "The Poet And The Pendulum". That song was inspired by all the drama caused by the departure of Tarja from the group, and written when Tuomas was at his lowest. He has said that he had the choice between commiting suicide in a song or doing it for real.
Love it. I think youre ready for The Poet and the Pendulum. I thought you had done that one, but don’t see it, unless YT pulled it. I think it’s Tuomas’s magnum opus, written at a very dark time after splitting with Tarja. Another recommendation is to watch the documentary, Please learn the lyrics in 48 hours, (available on UA-cam as well). It’s mostly in Finnish, with subtitles, and a bit awkward as Annette did not allow them to use anything with her in it. It gives yougreat insightinto the members and make up of the band. Don’t need to react to it,just watch it. Keep em coming. Kent, NW Army Texas
@@masseysmaineentertainment Watch one more song from Tarja at this same End of an Era Show singing Everdream - you will see the heartache from Tuomas 😢 Then watch Poet & The Pendulum at Wembley. A few more great Nightwish performances with Tarja: Wishmaster: ua-cam.com/video/eJTlH521E6w/v-deo.html The Siren: ua-cam.com/video/LUy8T_3kieI/v-deo.html Deep Silent Complete: ua-cam.com/video/zJ9SrLkYzRY/v-deo.html
As others just told you they fired Tarja after this show. Maybe it's only a rumor, I can't find confirmations about that, someone in the band should have commented something like "at least we don't have to do that song anymore". They never did it again (ok, I hardly can imagine Anette doing this). Floor did it with Henk Poort in the dutch tv show "Beste Zangers 2019", it worth a listen, they did very good, but it's different, as Henk is a professional opera and musical singer and was the dutch Phantom for years. I think this song was meant to show Tarja's opera skills, she did really well, but Marco stole the show.
This was a great performance by Tarja and I also like her performing Wishmaster. If I could only choose 3, my favourites would be ´Ghost love score` live at Wacken 2013, ´Poet and the pendulum` live at Wembley Arena and ´The greatest show on earth` live at Tampere. There are so many great performances to experience. Enjoy the ride!
the part "sing my angel of music hoooooo" that is a very2 long breath with high notes!!! also at 3:39, marco is singing at the same pitch as tarja!!! that note is D5 guys it is so f**king high for male vocal!!! the one an only.. marco!!!!
This performance was at Hartwall Areena in Helsinki, and Phantom of the Opera was song #5 of 18 in the set list. Other songs I'd especially suggest from this show include: Planet Hell ua-cam.com/video/MckQglkuK_k/v-deo.html The Siren ua-cam.com/video/LUy8T_3kieI/v-deo.html Wishmaster ua-cam.com/video/eJTlH521E6w/v-deo.html Creek Mary's Blood ua-cam.com/video/L2faiEGBJyM/v-deo.html (with John Two Hawks)
Agreed. Tarja sings it beautifully, but it is just musical style like so many other musical and opera sopranos can do. But Marco puts his crazy over-the-top spin on it and added with the music arrangement and rhythmic acceleration in the end makes this performance so special.
Under that growl is a classical tenor. rest and enjoy life, Marko. I have huge respect for Tarja as a singer. I doubt it will happen but I'd love to hear her sing later Nightwish songs written for Anette and Floor. Speaking of whom, Anette has a light, quick voice that's fun to listen to. Three very impressive artists. Tuomas attracts talent.
Fantastic performance. I absolutely love it when they sing together. Tarja is always amazing, but this really works for Marko. Please react to Wishmaster, Ghost Love Score and I wish I had an angel from the same end of an era concert and Tarja on her solo career with Supremacy (Muse cover) in Woodstock 2016. She is awesome.
The song that will move this into second place for you is "The Poet and the Pendulum". A while after that it will probably be "The Greatest Show on Earth". If and when you react to the Greatest Show, please do the one that was performed in Tampere.
You definitely should react to "Wishmaster" from same concert ("End of an era" Helsinki, Finland 2005) Tarjas last concert with Nighwish. ua-cam.com/video/J7N8MekeH20/v-deo.html
This show was the last with Tarja. The relationship between her and the band had been bad for some time, so at the end of 2004 Tarja decided to tell the band that she would leave. The idea was to record one last album and go on a farewell tour. She wanted to announce her decision to the public and prepare fans for the vocalist change, however, Tuomas convinced her not to do so at the time. It turns out that, after that meeting, the band planned a public firing on the sly. The group wrote a letter of resignation full of attacks to Tarja and her husband. They delivered this letter to Tarja at the end of the End of an era show and posted it on the band's website the next day. It was a scandal. In response, Tarja wrote a letter but did not attack the band. She also held a press conference to respond to the group's accusations. Her husband also spoke. He answered more than 140 questions from fans around the world and posted the answers on the internet. Given the reports that were brought and other available records, including videos and documentaries, a large part of the fan base revolted against the band. Nightwish lost a lot of fans at the time. Faced with criticism from different sides, Tuomas fell into a depression and wrote "The poet and the pendulum" as a way of dealing with the situation. This song was released on the first album with Anette, the second vocalist, who was also fired years later. Nightwish has been a famous band in Europe and Latin America since the late 90s and early 2000s. They have been performing in Latin America since their first international tour in 2000. To give you a sense of how popular they already were in the past, note the views of the official videos of the first album with Anette, Dark Passion Play. I suggest the singles of this album ("Amaranth" and "Bye bye beautiful") because they are the first Nightwish works released with UA-cam already in operation. Furthermore, they better represent the situation of the fan base at the end of Tarja's era and the beginning of Anette's. Many of the videos with Tarja, although older, were posted after the videos with the newer singers. At the time of the release of Dark Passion Play, we were all curious to know who the new singer would be and what she would sound like. The viewing numbers of the singles from this album are very high. After this first moment of novelty, views dropped a lot. In the following album, Imaginaerum, the numbers are already much smaller. Anette has a very beautiful voice, but has suffered a lot of rejection from some of the remaining old fans. It turns out that, beyond changing vocals, Nightwish also changed its style which helped to attract a different audience. On the first 5 albums the band was a mix of power metal, gothic metal, symphonic music and folk music. Since Anette the band has drastically reduced its power metal and gothic metal influences, and has increasingly strengthened its folk and symphonic side. This helped to reconfigure the fan base.
@@masseysmaineentertainment For sure. The way Tarja was fired was certainly a mistake. It could have happened unobtrusively like they did with Sami. By the way, I don't know how much you already know about the band's history, but Marko is not the original bass player. He only joined the group on their fourth album, "Century Child". Sami is the original bass player and also left because of internal problems, but his departure was discreet. There is not much information about what happened. Tuomas said very little about the subject. By the way, some say that Tuomas suffered from an unrequited love for Tarja. This feeling would have been the fuel for the composition of many songs and also one of the elements of conflict in the group. This unrequited love is an old theory of some fans and was strengthened when Marcelo himself (Tarja's husband) spoke about the subject in the responses he gave to fans. The depression itself and the song "The poet and the pendulum" can, in theory, be read as a reflection of this love drama. Regardless of whether this theory about Tuomas is true or not, the fact is that bringing internal issues to the public was the worst choice. A lot of the band's past has been brought up and no one has come out unscathed. Because of the scandal, Tarja lost some fans and contracts for her solo career. On the other hand, the band also lost fans and had little-known events brought to a wider audience. For example, Tarja suffered an attempted sexual abuse in the middle of a concert in Guadalajara in 2000. At the time, the band continued playing as if nothing had happened, even after Tarja left the stage along with the criminal and the security guards. There are videos of the episode here on UA-cam. Later, after Tarja left, the band itself mentioned the event in its official biography.
@@masseysmaineentertainment Definitely. Tuomas did later say that he and the band had handled the whole situation badly. Still, I think it needs to be remembered that whatever the case, Tarja was leaving the band by her own choice. That era of Nightwish was always going to come to an end sooner or later.
@@masseysmaineentertainment You did the two songs with Floor 😊. I would recommand "Design your Universe" live (Retrospect), "Unchain Utopia" (Omega Alive) from their Virtual concert 2021 or if you want to blow your mind completly with a ballad "Rivers". 😉
