Someone makes a mistake, we acknowledge the mistake, then we provide a fix to correct the mistake. You don't then continue to chastise the airplane and create unnecessary chatter on frequency just to prove how right you were.
But this is New Yawk.
Thank you!
Well, they kept fucking up. It seems like they needed extra special attention. Poor guy seemed to be dealing with a special group of pilots that day.
He didn't chastise the airplane. He chastised the pilot.
For New Yorkers this is just a conversation, not chastising
Ahhh the common sense of Ramp and Ground being completely separate and not talking to each other 🤔
So, business as usual then.
Busy US airport ground controller here - we are wayyy too busy to be on and off the phone with the ramp. They also are airline employees (a lot of the time, sometimes city employees depending on location). They are not typically trained in FAA phraesology and procedures so coordinating with them is extremely challenging at times.
@@Jmjbs (nothing against yo personally, just an observation... so when I'll say "you", I'll mean GND in general) it seems like a lot of the "we are busy" comes from the fact that there is no coordination and they/you are waiting for each other, or not know what the other wants to to with the aircraft...
Sure, phoning each other all the time would not help much, but we're in 21st century - why doesn't the airport have some computer system, where the Ramp people would input which plane goes where and you would see where to direct them?
Genuine question - it feels like a lot of chaos could be prevented, and then also your busy-ness would go down a bit
@@Jmjbs Shouldn't have to be on the phone. These days it would be pretty easy for the ramp employees to indicate a gate, entrance and status electronically so it shows up on the ground controllers screen. Other airports do it quite easily. You have no idea how awkward this is for pilots to be on two radios and pass the same information between the two. For all the time the controller spends asking about status of a gate he could be looking at a screen and pick up that information quickly.
I wonder how other busy airports in the world do it (LHR, HND, DXB) - maybe they have arrived in the 21st century? 🤔
The escalating type size at 1:32 perfectly captures the controller's energy. 😂
Have a normal day at JFK challange level impossible
😁
Have a normal day in America*
What do you mean?
This is a normal day at JFK.
@@Crosbie85 NYC is NOT America
JFK Controllers losing their mind as usual... 🙄 go figure. Between hogging the frequency to chew someone out, continuing to operate in an annoyed, passive aggressive manner following multiple deviations on the same frequency and area of the airport, doing nothing to remedy the given situation are all right in line with JFK standards 😐 It's a wonder anyone survives out there and someone doesn't off themselves every other week.
Yeah, I wouldn't have wanted to animate all that either!
You feel me, I feel you.
Ground has some sort of radar view, right. If not, that would be a bigger mess than I'd expect...
Lmao
@@hb-man ADS-B
Listen to my calls Samir! You're breaking the airport!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Many will not get this great comment.
@@Roddy451I did! 😂😂😂😂😂
"Slow Medium Left! Samir! I said left! Left!"
TURN THE WHEEL
Hold short of Foxtrot, Samir! Hold short... SHORT SAMIR! YOU'RE BREAKING THE PLANE SAMIR! "
I wish JFK controllers took the same level of interest and rebuke in crossing four aircraft onto active runways in front of departing aircraft as they did a pilot turning the wrong way while juggling two frequencies because the FAA and the Port Authority don't like each other. (Matthew 7:3-5)
lol
Such rebukes (from colleagues or supervisors) wouldn't be on a recorded frequency, so you have no idea that they didn't happen.
You win
Y they gotta call them out like, they admitted to a mistake and atc keeps bringing it up. Yeah let’s drive up the stress level
that specific guy is know for doing shit like that
I don't understand what's the point of bringing it up multiple times at subsequent calls. Yeah, they made a mistake, acknowledged it and apologized. Why keeping the frequency busy repeating the same reprimand over and over as if he's scolding a child? Also, ramp and ground have zero coordination and it amazes me that in 2024 there's no better way than asking pilots to report to ground what ramp told them and vice-versa.
Kennedy Ground is another world in Aviation

@@avgjoeavglife correct
It all went downhill when Kennedy Steve retired
I don't think asking "What do you think you're doing?" is the most efficient way to handle the situation. Correct the wrong situation and then move on.
It's almost like shouting instructions in an annoyed tone, in a stressful environment, decreases people's ability to comply with those instructions. Who knew. I should publish.
That's why Kennedy Steve was so great...even when things were messed up...he tried to handle it calmly and with humour.
Be like Frank Reagan
JBU580 at 1:57 "they've got issue with an aircraft not listening"
JBU580 at 3:39 "we turned the wrong way because we were talking to the Ramp"
eh. Karma?
This needs more upvotes.
not just karma, its instant karma - the best kind
Jetblue 580... "We're not moving till you bring Kennedy Steve back."
the controller sounds angry about not being able to pronounce Galapagos
This is a coordination issue between ground and ramp. In YYZ we had an electronic strip system with ramp where they indicated what ramp entrance they wanted aircraft and when their gates were available.
Amazes me that America is the only country left that still haven’t realised that having ground controllers that don’t control the ramp is a bad idea…. Talking to 2 freqs that don’t communicate with each other to get your gate is just ridiculous. Catch up America!
Also clearing aircraft to land while another aircraft is on the runway.
@@-Wreckanize- clearing you to land when you're 5th in line to land and 15 miles out..........
in fairness, JFK has this weird old layout that makes it very hard to separate the GND position into multiple controllers. So adding extra responsibilities to that controller isn't really viable either. I agree on communication though.
Which America do you speak of sir? South America doesn't do this.
@ apologies sir…. The United States of America
This controller is absolute garbage. If multiple airplanes are making mistakes on your frequency, I would find the common denominator by looking in the mirror. And just let it go, he brings up the mistakes 3 times instead of simply providing amended instructions and a PD if he needs to. Geez, get a life, dude.
Controller sounds like he ain’t gettin any at home.
Isn't this the same guy who has been featured on here a few times now?
He has to justify his actions by blaming everyone else. this is the standard for New York and New Jersey people.. It is a Shithole city and a worse airport.. but, nothing is ever their fault.
The entire community would be better served if the phrase "what are you doing?" was removed from ATC phraseology and the controllers actually used the proper phraseology ("Second in sequence behind Caribbean" ==> "Number two behind Caribbean")
@ColorNerdChris I feel the whole US suffers from using improper phraseology. Obviously it stems from English being a first language but I don't hear British or Aussie(,etc) controllers or pilots doing this
Distinct lack of Kennedy Steve
Where may we listen to Kennedy Steve?
That’s why I always avoid flying into JFK!!! Everybody at that airport needs a chill pill!!!
I miss not hearing Kennedy Steve.
Kennedy, Steve should come back as a contract trainer. Teach these guys some patience and flair.
And we all wonder... is Jetblue 580 still driving round the parking lot?!
JUST FYI GUYS. The controller that is not having a good time is the controller for the terminal 4 ramp which is owned by the IAT. I used to work for them and we used to do ramp control but since Delta moved in they are the ones that are controlling the ramp. So this is a Delta ramp controller that cannot handle the ramp. (Edited for voice to text grammar)
Agreed...
Is he a DEI?

It's like daycare.

The ground traffic at JFK is crazy
Just another day at JFK.
The biggest tragedy is that all this meant that not one controller said, sorry Aero 404 cant find you.
That controller judt knew this would end up here, right?
Thanks for the video !
"Medium left! Listen to my instructions!"
Spinward!!
Samir you have to listen to my calls, you are breaking the plane
Poor Samir 😂
Episodes like this make me miss Kennedy Steve even more!
Did those guys learn ranting and dragging out every issue from my mom?
Pilot: Ground, ramp told us to tell you...
ATC Ground: I can't do that, tell ramp to sort it out.
Pilot: Ramp insists.
ATC: No. Tell ramp they can't.
Etc
And the ground controller is the same guy that has a bit of a temper.
Vinny Gambini.. 😅
What a cluster "F" !!!!! How the hell does controller expect anyone to understand what the hell he wants !!! WOW !!!
JFK staff need a hug
And a box to clean out their desks.
JFK controller is fighting with pilots..
First time this is happening again 😂
The thing I have to remind myself is there are 8-12 hours in a work day depending on the job. 8 minutes of action is a small snip. The other 472 minutes might have been normal ops.
Why in this year of 2024 can't airports just SEND instructions directly to each plane electronically as well as verbally so they SEE the instructions on a tidy electronic map with blinking paths and highlighted navigation points to follow... Red bars on the map mean stop and wait for further instructions... Unbelievable!!
This is a "you're number last" kinda situation. I've been there as a controller, but I only said that once to an aircraft that just couldn't understand that they couldn't go straight to the IAF.
Thanks! It would be great to have an image of the airport with the planes moving in real time.
It sounds like after Pete Weber retired from bowling he became a controller "who do think you are? I am!"
Man the stress I experienced just listening to the conversation was intense. Can't imagine what pilots have to go through.
if multiple pilots are fucking up at the same time... maybe there's something in common that all of them have, like a controller
Or two, felt like GND was both "talk to me not ramp" and "can ramp take you?" at the same time.
I could never do the job of ATC. I always lose my truck at Costco.
I can't imagine why the US is riddled with incidents and near-misses.... Aviation third-world, truly.
That controller is craving that someone makes a mistake.
Did some one switch the taxi signs in the middle of the night? 😂😂😂
It’s no wonder controllers work short shifts. That exhausted me. It seems once a small thing happens, the dominoes start falling.
I think I have said this a hundred times before. But traffic lights directing the taxi ways would really smooth out communication. The aeronautics world could learn a thing or two from the railway industry there.
Like if ATC can just give an aircraft a path, then it can't really mishear if the light clearly indicate the path to follow.
This would also minimize the need for (frankly unreliable) audio communication and also allow for safety interlocks, something airports currently clearly lack, given all the unintended runway incursions over the years.
was expecting the Iberia to fail to report which runway side to cross AHAH
So no phone number to copy!!!! Come on JFK!!!
Why do some JFK controllers delight, in tormenting flight crews, especially those whose ICAO English is below 5!
For JFK this is not MAD. I don't want to know what JFK MAD would be but this ain't it.
Christmas is coming. I hate MY job during the holidays, dealing with weather and bumper to bumper aircraft is too much for me!
JFK you have to love it
Normal day in JFK
"JetBlue 580, you're not driving a car, your driving a multimillion dollar aircraft with a bunch of people in it, you can't mindlessly turn corners without thinking." (Glad that's not my job)
There should be no ATC, especially from governmentnot, it’s unconstitutional.
As usual, shocking audio from the radio frequencies.
"galapolis" 😂
GalapaGOS, not Galopolis.
Like the island. Duh.
Love to see animation!
see, this is what happens when you don't take out your pent up frustration on the tugs. "Kennedy Steve" would be having a blast joking with / about these guys.
I guess its the difference between being "super good" at the job vs "only just making it"
I am lucky to only see JFK a few times per year. I dread dealing with their embarrassing controllers. The FAA should send these people on a field trip to AMS, or HKG to learn how to behave professionally. They make the USA look bad.
I def feel like this controller was herding cats. Haha
lol IAT ramp getting upset is hilarious
Looking at these videos if it’s commercial it’s at JFK
If it’s general aviation it’s Teterboro or Austin
I miss Kennedy Steve.
Typical day at JFK
Ground ops at jfk are pure garbage. You CANNOT tell me that there is no way for ground and ramp to coordinate with each other and stop making pilots play telephone at a busy airport.
Honestly who hired these people? Whenever I listen to something from JFK it sounds like every single controller there has massive anger issues. Never ever heard something like that in Europe. It's so unprofessional.
Tampax is going to be selling quick soon jeez. Sometimes you need to focus on the solution not the problem. At least they calmed down towards the end lol
@@markgr1nyer Especially if “Tampon Tim” Walz becomes Assistant Dictator on November 5th.
The sooner we've AI doing ATC the better, we can take the human emotions out of equation.
This guy isn't gonna last very long.
Frankly, the entire city operates like this.
The place is a zoo. Two taxiways that circumnavigate the airport in opposite directions and the instructions come at you at lightning speed like we live there.
Jesus. Transponders, non listeners, gates not clear.
Man I hope I never have to fly into jfk. What a mess.
Taxi cab dispatchers appear more competent and better (mature) tempered. But this is probably the best possible given the poorly coordinated mess that crews have to deal with.
One year obligatory internship at AMS 😂
ok now do JFK controllers getting mad at tugs
The epitome of unprofessional controllers that JFK has unfortunately become famous for. I’m only sorry the JetBlue pilot was so apologetic in return.
I love the JFK controllers! LOL!
JBU580: "I guess they've got issue with an aircraft not listening"
Also JBU580: *makes a right turn instead of left turn*
Man, JBU580 mentioned about an aircraft not listening to instructions only for them to do the same thing.
Isn't this that same controller that speaks Russian and Ukranian? Buhahaha. He's great content for this channel. :)
Not the same video but this is def the same guy. ua-cam.com/video/UM4HsmlyfJs/v-deo.html
Came here expecting something else. This was just another regular day at jfk.
Unnecessary bullshit from ground. They made a mistake fix it and move on.
Ohh JFK controllers please don’t ever change. 😂
Is this the same Kennedy controller that’s been featured here numerous times? Mr. Happy?
Left! LEFT!! No! Your OTHER left!!!
I miss Kennedy Steve...
These new gen controllers aren’t as fun as Steve was, 😆
What a good idea to speak faster and faster as pilots won’t understand anything… cowboy controler unable to handle a mistake …
Must’ve been the same day that Freeman hit the grand slam. Glad the Yankees and Mets lost. ATC gonna be moody for a few weeks.
Fired
The ground controller was on a power trip.
berating professionals for simple, annoyance mistakes - is typical of JFK - they are firmly stuck in the 1960s with regards to technology and mentality
