    Someone makes a mistake, we acknowledge the mistake, then we provide a fix to correct the mistake. You don't then continue to chastise the airplane and create unnecessary chatter on frequency just to prove how right you were.

      Busy US airport ground controller here - we are wayyy too busy to be on and off the phone with the ramp. They also are airline employees (a lot of the time, sometimes city employees depending on location). They are not typically trained in FAA phraesology and procedures so coordinating with them is extremely challenging at times.

    • @panda4247
      @panda4247 24 дні тому +39

      @@Jmjbs (nothing against yo personally, just an observation... so when I'll say "you", I'll mean GND in general) it seems like a lot of the "we are busy" comes from the fact that there is no coordination and they/you are waiting for each other, or not know what the other wants to to with the aircraft...
      Sure, phoning each other all the time would not help much, but we're in 21st century - why doesn't the airport have some computer system, where the Ramp people would input which plane goes where and you would see where to direct them?
      Genuine question - it feels like a lot of chaos could be prevented, and then also your busy-ness would go down a bit

    • @markw1123
      @markw1123 24 дні тому +26

      @@Jmjbs Shouldn't have to be on the phone. These days it would be pretty easy for the ramp employees to indicate a gate, entrance and status electronically so it shows up on the ground controllers screen. Other airports do it quite easily. You have no idea how awkward this is for pilots to be on two radios and pass the same information between the two. For all the time the controller spends asking about status of a gate he could be looking at a screen and pick up that information quickly.

Between hogging the frequency to chew someone out, continuing to operate in an annoyed, passive aggressive manner following multiple deviations on the same frequency and area of the airport, doing nothing to remedy the given situation are all right in line with JFK standards 😐 It's a wonder anyone survives out there and someone doesn't off themselves every other week.

Why keeping the frequency busy repeating the same reprimand over and over as if he's scolding a child? Also, ramp and ground have zero coordination and it amazes me that in 2024 there's no better way than asking pilots to report to ground what ramp told them and vice-versa.

    I think I have said this a hundred times before. But traffic lights directing the taxi ways would really smooth out communication. The aeronautics world could learn a thing or two from the railway industry there.
    Like if ATC can just give an aircraft a path, then it can't really mishear if the light clearly indicate the path to follow.
    This would also minimize the need for (frankly unreliable) audio communication and also allow for safety interlocks, something airports currently clearly lack, given all the unintended runway incursions over the years.
