Man I love these kind of videos, you make original builds and explain everything with details, the creativity you have for these builds is massive, please never stop doing these
I love that these guides show you how to make a build with a lot of variety. It’s not like a lot of channels that focus on all of the unique weapons like Moonveil or Darkmoon GS. This is a whole lot more intricate and, in my opinion, fun and unique
UPDATE FROM DLC PATCH: glintblade phalanx poise damage got nerfed😢 , just so yall know some of the numbers aren’t the same and it’s gonna be harder for this build
@@mcsons13id recommend GREATBLADE phalanx instead. It isn’t an ash of war unfortunately and I uses more FP but it has similar stance breaking properties and does more damage than glintblade. Good luck.
@@mcsons13 depends on your playstyle but im using impaling thrust. lot of range, decent physical and poise damage. but it does use up quite a lot of stamina. thats why i also use the green turtle talisman. could also use lions claw for damage but it is harder to hit
Haima Hoplite + Spellblade + Gladiator = Three recent all-game guides from fextra with extremely similar stats. I've got playstyles for days. Thank you!!
This looks like so much fun. I try lots of different builds but I always come back to ol’ faithful strength & intelligence builds. There’s something really satisfying about it
Playing an int build for the first time in like a year +. Just said the same exact thing when I got Rogiers rapier last night and was reading the description.
So I've been playing with the Haima Hoplite build you shared a few weeks ago, and this one looks just as fun... I love being able to switch builds without having to change any stats ^^
I really enjoy the various types of builds you make, particularly these all game builds It really shows the ingenuity it takes to make full use of what is available to the player depending on where they are in the game I'm a big fan of your Frenzied Acolyte build and just picked up Vyke's War Spear in my game Would love to see a build around the spear and madness spells sometime!
I’m eager to see your evolution of the scorcher twinblade build now that the game has changed so much since then. I tried using a twin blade in this build but the claymore is the right tool for this job
This is really cool! I always gravitate towards either faith-based spellblades or heavy strength knight-type builds but I love the idea of this. Gonna have to dip into using some int for once and give this a shot! Thanks Fex!
Thankyou for this build, I tweaked it and used pure int with the magic infusion and the regal sceptor and it was one of my favourite builds in the game
First time playing through elden ring (very late to the party) and I accidentally ended up building this. Can confirm Godrick was a tough fight. I didn't know how to summon at the time, nor did I want to commit to leveling up any weapons because I thought that was way more committal than it actually is lol
Quite interesting that you upload this now as I'm currently on a new playthrough featuring this exact build but I'm using the Knight'S Greatsword instead.
Would love to see builds based on: Ruins Greatsword Golden Order Greatsword Marika's Hammer Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear Axe Of Godrick Godskin Peeler / Stitcher Ash Of War Cragblade And so many others
Spellblade with a parry shield is the best imo. Once you get comfortable with parries you can get easy crits on just about any enemy. Pair it with the red and blue assassins knife talisman and whatever 2 ones you want. I'm using a spellblade with rogiers rapier, hoarfrost axe (yeah I know you are better off putting hoarfrost stomp on a different axe). I sometimes use a magic uchigatana or wing of astel to switch it up. Got magic misericorde for crits. And any shield with carian retaliation. Spells I use carion piercer, carian great blade (I forgor name) freezing mist, ice Craig projectile thing, scholars armament, Terra magika. Split my points between int and dex with 5-10 more int. Mostly use cold or magic infusions.
Man Fextra loves them some Elden Ring - over a year and they’re still putting out guides but also shows the quality of game ER is. Seriously though what happened to the Wo Long builds lol?! Admittedly they’re not hard to figure out.
Currently playing the DLC with this build it has been a joy so far, and was wondering if at some point you would make an DLC-related SpellBlade build at some point? There are some pretty interesting this I found in the DLC that might make the build better. Like the Blessed Blue Dew Talisman for example.
I've been using the Claymore since I first saw this video. Besides the cool look, I really like the balanced thrusting and slashing ratio to its moveset.
Just beat Godrick and I am going to switch from your early game spellbuild guide to this new one. Looks a lot of fun, trying to complete every single quest in the game except for gatekeeper and maybe frenzied flame lady or whatever the two people are called. (Edit: made an update to said comment in an separate comment)
This build looks amazing. I don't plan to go as far as Elden Ring plus since I barely have time to play. But it would be so nice to have a strength magic build that can play easy so I can just enjoy exploring.
On my melee-focused INT build I put the Phalanx ash on a maxed out Misericorde in my RH second slot for quick softswapping. This way I could use any Ash for my RH primary as well as use unique weapons like the Steeple and Poker, while carrying a staff in LH as well. The Misericorde also came in very handy for crits with the ridiculous amount of stance breaking I was doing with the phalanx. If all the glintblades hit their mark, almost anything can be staggered with a 2H GS jump attack and maybe a quick followup R1. Of course this all happens in one 2-second burst and half of it doesn't even require input from you. Can't think of many other setups that allow that kind of poise break efficiency.
Absolutely love all of your build videos. I really appreciate all of the hard work you put in to this series - it has given me and my friends a lot of inspiration for our builds. ❤❤❤
The game has been a joy to play using this sweet build! I feel like a Jedi slicing everyone to pieces with my glowing blue sword. Also, I put a bit more into Endurance so I could wear some heavier pieces like the Scaled Set mixed with a hood. Or just rock the clean Knight Set. My poise is around 57-60 with these sets.
I mean that's just a strength build for the most part. Once you hit 54 str, you can then choose to either spec into faith for buffs like fgms or into dex for more AR without buffs.
I working on a build like this but I’m using the saint Trina’s sword and it’s so cool because if they fall asleep you can re buff and cast spells or get a safe distance
Hey thank you so much for this video, Ive done full strength builds on DS1 and 3 and wanted something different. This build has been amazing and challenging at the same time. Its right what I was looking for !!
You are the BOSS at this game. I appreciate the guides. Any way to make the morning star do something in a build? How about any of the flails? or are they worthless? Thanks bro 😊
It’s very good I didn’t have trouble with any boss even late game normally takes about three ash’s of war to stance break and with the dagger talisman on its packs a punch
Guys u can also pump strength instead of dex and get the same damage if your claymore is set to the keen affinity, this shortens spell casting time so it synergies with the build very well however the two handed strength buff isn’t present, but if you start as prisoner you can two hand the claymore without upgrading strength, thus pumping more into dex and having higher damage, depends on your starting class.
In that case swap out the claymore for the Nagakiba, buff the nagakiba, then dual wield with a uchgatana set to magic affinity and still be able to use Glintblade Phalamx.
Put phalanx on a secondary weapon, main or offhand, and crit with a RYR misericorde. Phalanx is more like a utility spell like golden vow. There are a wide range of poise damage AoWs to put on your main weapon, for example impaling thrust which comes out quite fast with a 6x base poise damage of your weapon. Claymore is fine in that it's ok in both hp dmg and poise dmg, but if you get comfortable switching weapons in and out, you can get much better results.
I hope you’ve got a whole set of leveling guides coming for D4!! But I’ll settle for post-launch build guides if you’re just holding off since skills could get nerfed on day 1.
This is probably what I would’ve ended up with in my first play through if the spells and incantations weren’t so intriguing, and the sword of night and flame so overpowered
You know I’ve never seen someone effectively use the Crag Blade ash of war ability for a Strength magic build based on gravity magic. Like say Crag Blade with The Greatsword and using attract and repulse gravity spells gravity rock spells for range and crowd comtrol? I did a build like it once but you’d make better use of items for it
Love how these all game builds are foable from very early in the game espically as much has changed since the first videos were released. I am curious of this is going to cover just good solid builds or cover the key builds missing faith and bleed/arcane with maybe a 2 hander....whatever way these go i am happy with them either way because you are getting a good mox of showcasing with a good build for early game 1 onwards and for those starting a fresh or trying a new style from game 1 that will be invaluable.
Hey, i'm here mostly to pitch a Bestial Incantations build i've been having a lot of fun with Weapons are the Great Stars, Clawmark Seal and later down the line when reaching the Mountaintops, the Beastclaw Greathammer Talismans are Blue Dancer Charm (if you want to minmax), Green Turtle Talisman, Assasin's Crimson/Cerulean Dagger Spells are just Bestial Sling, Beastial Vitality, Stone of Gurranq and Gurranq's Beast Claw Physick flask is just Stamina regen tear and Damage Negation tear As for stats, you want a lot of Vigor since, if using BDC you won't really be using armor, not much Mind or Endurance, in fact, you can easily not level Endurance and still Light Roll with BDC but i still got some to have a comfortably sized stamina bar, Faith is at the minimum to use Beastclaw Hammer and the rest of my points are split between Strength and Dex since Beastclaw Hammer has good Quality scaling with a little bit of Faith
Love the build! Interesting as well since I use a very similar setup for PVP but with the Bloodhound's Fang and more of a focus on Int. so that I can use spells like Greatblade Phalanx!
The alternative to using the Claymore, if you're focusing on stance breaking and critical hits, would be using the Rapier or Miséricorde. I prefer using the basic Rapier for the better range and fashion, but given that it has 130 Crit (the second highest base crit in the game), which can be further boosted by the Dagger Talisman, it makes a better canidate for a Spellblade build. That being said, if you're dead set on Greatswords, the Lordsworn Greatsword has the highest Crit of any Greatsword at 110, and can be acquired only slightly earlie than the Claymore... The Claymore does look better though. Additionally, once you get to higher Intelligence levels, this build is one of the few that I'd recommend Lusat's Staff for. The extra cost of spells becomes kinda irrelevant when you're only buffing once, twice, or maybe even thrice per fight. If you're not spamming spells, the extra cost is meaningless, and you can squeeze out better buff damage. Also, also... His drip in the video is super endgame drops, but if this is NG+, try this fashion focused setup... I think it looks great. Head: Confessor Hood Chest: Blue Silver Mail Armor Hands: Blue Silver Mail Bracelets Legs: Black Knife Greaves Alternatively, my favorite Spellblade look is... Head: Preceptor's Big Hat Chest: Carian Knight Armor (Altered) Hands: Traveler's Gloves Legs: Carian Knight Greaves
Great build, I really like it. I would rather use the great mace but you can't beat that thrusting charged attack on the claymore. I'm ready to respec haha.
I believe you can skip Godrick altogether and there's a path around Stormveil that goes straight to Liurnia to get the spells you want or need. Spell blade builds can shift strength and dexterity as you like. Personally for spellblade I prefer only putting the bare minimum stats for my chosen melee weapon and split the points between HP, mind, and stamina while going heavily into intelligence. The 50 strength I think is only necessary for Radahn's weapon and the moonlight greatsword I think, haven't figured out how to get it yet. Or any other colossal, imo I think a spellblade is almost a pure sorcerer with a mix of melee and ranged spells. And battlemage has more of a focus on strength or dexterity and intelligence. But these are my opinions
Godrick is required for this build in particular, since it mainly uses Glintblade Phalanx ash of war, which you get attached to Rogier's rapier after Rogier gifts it to you in the Roundtable hold. To make Rogier move there, you have to beat Godrick.
I modified this build by putting phalanx on misericorde with carian grandeur claymore. After the enemy got stance broken I immediately charged grandeur to max and deal an orgasmic amount of damage 😂 Though timing is the most important thing with this kind of set up
Thanks again for the great build Cas. Would love to see a Greatbow build like the Golem or Lion Greatbows. Add that with flame of the Redmanes or Scouring Black Flame. Keep it up.💪🏻
I like both builds, but I would like your opinion on Nizar GG carian knight spellblade build. It's a very recent video, you can't go wrong. Which one is more versatile for PvP and PvE?
really liking this build after beating the game with the blasphemous herald build. great transition into a more intelligence-heavy playstyle while still keeping a greatsword
Ugh im so lost... i just beat the game as a full melee bleed samurai and started a int/str because wanted to try magic but theres so much other shit to learn now that i never had to worry about 😂
Not sure if it's just an old game version, but you can absolutely get glintblade phalanx without defeating Godrick -- the Royal House Scroll is in Limgrave, give it to Sorceress Sellen.
Might be worth it to equip the Spellblade armor set from Rogier. The poise even with bullgoat's will be horrid, but if you're confident in your dodge game the bonus damage to glintblade phalanx AOW might be worth it. Can also go all in stacking things like Magic Scorpion and Terra Magica to help, but the former makes you even squishier and the latter always feels like a trap to me.
Man I’m officially overwhelmed with this game. I’m level 80 now, kinda got the feel for it… I’ve changed my build 3X and just keep getting FOMO with other builds. Also cannot decide on what weapons I wanna commit to and upgrade. I started out going like every stat with more strength.. sorta paladin play style but with heavy ash of war on lordsworn GS.. I hate colossal weapons though so STR seemed a waste. Then I wanted to try sorcery so I did sorta spellblade. Then I said screw it just pick a weapon so I chose the curved sword that heals you on kills. Kinda fun but sucked against bosses. Also felt like I was having more fun with close up shield gameplay.. Bosses became too easy using spellblade and using range too much. Now I went back to old strength build kinda but I hate the weapons. Also during spellblade phase I used Moonveil but that was way too cheesy feeling. Bottom line these videos are great but man I like seriously don’t know wtf I wanna do rest of the game. Sheesh man this game is intense.

Head: Confessor Hood
Chest: Blue Silver Mail Armor
Hands: Blue Silver Mail Bracelets
Legs: Black Knife Greaves
Alternatively, my favorite Spellblade look is...
Head: Preceptor's Big Hat
Chest: Carian Knight Armor (Altered)
Hands: Traveler's Gloves
Legs: Carian Knight Greaves
I wonder if this will work well for the dlc
Still making sick ass builds nice man truly incredible for an incredible game!
You saved me typing this. Yeah, you can pretty much unlock all of the map up to and including Altus Plateau without touching Godrick.
Godrick is required for this build in particular, since it mainly uses Glintblade Phalanx ash of war, which you get attached to Rogier's rapier after Rogier gifts it to you in the Roundtable hold. To make Rogier move there, you have to beat Godrick.
Have you tried cragblade great hammers like the great mace? Crazy poise breaks, not as busted as patch 1.8 but still strong and fun
Please do a Gargoyles BlackBlades build. (The twin blade)
Randomly saw this video when browsing your channel when it just came out, thanks
I modified this build by putting phalanx on misericorde with carian grandeur claymore. After the enemy got stance broken I immediately charged grandeur to max and deal an orgasmic amount of damage 😂 Though timing is the most important thing with this kind of set up
Great build. I tried it out and I love it!
One year later and im still addicted to elden ring 😂😂
Thanks again for the great build Cas. Would love to see a Greatbow build like the Golem or Lion Greatbows. Add that with flame of the Redmanes or Scouring Black Flame. Keep it up.💪🏻
Man I have a quastion and I hope you answer it, how you make this cool art on your UA-cam thumbnail?
One of my favorite builds ❤
I like both builds, but I would like your opinion on Nizar GG carian knight spellblade build. It's a very recent video, you can't go wrong. Which one is more versatile for PvP and PvE?
really liking this build after beating the game with the blasphemous herald build. great transition into a more intelligence-heavy playstyle while still keeping a greatsword
Same here the herald build was so strong i wonder how this feels
Can you tell us what cloak/chest piece you’re wearing? That looks awesome
This build is much like my first I played :D
Great video, as always! Will the Haima Hoplite and Kung fu Katarist builds get added to the site, too?
So. How much will this build change now that we have a carian sword capable of casting spells without a staff
Love your videos man. Would you be willing to make a shield with stance breaking build?
For a challenge, how about a Morning Star build? LOL. x)
Would like to see a build using the pulley crossbow 👍🏻
Ugh im so lost... i just beat the game as a full melee bleed samurai and started a int/str because wanted to try magic but theres so much other shit to learn now that i never had to worry about 😂
Not sure if it's just an old game version, but you can absolutely get glintblade phalanx without defeating Godrick -- the Royal House Scroll is in Limgrave, give it to Sorceress Sellen.
That's the spell version. The ash of war version is removed from Rogier's Rapier which is a reward for killing Godrick
