May you guys believe it or not, high-end CGI computing and CGI rendering techniques have not changed _that_ much. Hardware got a _little_ more powerful, sure, but actual ray-traced rendering and the other accuracy based lighting techniques did not change much. All the lighting data is properly calculated photon by photon, that's why it still looks good to this day (and took a looooong time to render). What evolves a lot yearly is approximated stuff, real-time rendering like games and demos which use complex algorithms to try to look like the real deal as much as possible while using very little resources. There is a LOT more to CGI and computing than Moore's law.

I remember when this movie came out back in the day. I was 28 years old and read on the now defunct IMDB forums and understood that Americans had no idea what they were watching and they thought it was all about space aliens and good cgi. It made me realize right then and there that Americans have really no concept about the world outside of America. Granted America is a big country, but so is Russia. So is a lot of countries. But at least their ppl can find their own country on a world map. District-9 was a brilliant film with subtexts and dwelved into what is "humanity". Which also launched Neill Blomkamp's carrer. Sadly the films he followed up with which was "Elysium" and "Chappie", was good per-se but not on the same level as District-9. I would have wanted him to really follow through on his sequel to "ALIENS" which would have totally disregarded Alien3 and Alien4, and brought back Hicks and Newt. Sadly Ridley Scott put a stick in the wheel for that project, and instead we got those disappointing average shallow origin stories that nobody cares about. District-9 remains a timeless classic and a true cult film. If you have not seen it, do yourself a favor and see it now!

Omg hi fellow stay
@@lisandreanne-liseleduc6470 hi bestie
The fact that this movie was nominated for Best Picture, Adapted Screenplay, Visual Effects and Editing at the Oscars is everything. Usually Sci-fi films did t get an Oscar nod.
emotional ending for me but amazing movie !
RobbenFan yeah but he deserve it , he was an asshole , he was super mean af
@@surside1333 No he wasn't. He was actually one of the few who treated aliens with any amount of decency. And he literally sacrificed his life as a human for aliens to escape.
They have to make a second part of this movie.... I love it!!!
Baby that's going to be good for sure.
Let's see it!!
To anyone curious. The director confirmed on twitter he is writting the screenplay for District 10
the best alien movie ever. it show us human nature.
Wow 2000s films were pure gold. The golden age before politics took over TV and movies.
Diversity not politics

well said! cant watch a movie made after 2015 sadly!
The sound effect at 0:51 is just...That's how you introduce an other worldly ship. Bravo.
12 years later and I'm still waiting for a sequel/prequel for this film
Best sci-fi I've ever seen. Violent but interesting
Its absolutely comes under Top 10 sci-fi movies of all time
It's amazing how this movie relates to the present immigration situation across the globe. Neil Blomkamp was way ahead and still is i think.
Who else stumbled across this while searching Stray Kids District 9? 😁 Be honest
i was looking for a comment like this lmao
@@corgilover69 Lol same. But then I found no comment mentioning SKZ District 9 so I decided to be the first one to comment it :)
Me lmao
No, I was looking for the trailer for this movie. Because its a great movie.
Me
i was trying to find district 9 by skz but i found this instead..
not complaining
okay, I will watch this movie tomorrow.
edit : okay we need sequel
I didnt know the subs would let you know what the aliens were saying, i think that helped me empathize with them more, i had to read their body language, gestures, the pitch of their voice and the context.
WE WANT DISTRICT 10 !!
its overpopulated there
The best sci-fi movie I've seen in years.
This movie despite having only 30M$ of budget had a better and more believable CGI than the new flash movie lmao
One of the best sci-fi movies ever.
you can say that again
This movie needs a sequel.
Guys..Good news! Script of District 10 is in development. Neill Blomkamp confirmed on his official Twitter account. 👍
Just smoking a joint and looking at the stars wondering what life is, then this film came to mind, great film
They need to make a part 2 called " Wikus " .. Continue his story..
When i was 9, i thought that this was a real documentary.
It's been a long years and still hoping for the sequel :
Tbh I searched for Stray Kids' music video district 9 and while scrolling down I got this trailer and now I'm interested in it....🙃
Tbh I thought this was a trailer like the one for noeasy and I clicked it watched ur half way and thought “huh so where’s stray kids” and then I read through the comments and I thought stays were being sarcastic and then I realize this has nothing to do with stray kids🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

One of the most thought-provoking movies that I have ever seen
Alien promised he will be returning in 3 years from a different planet but it's been more 10 years we still haven't received a next part of a movie 🥺
If you have not seen it, do yourself a favor and see it now!
please stop call "AMERICA" to usa. Dont be like them, they think they are the center of the world. America is a continent with lots of countrys, not only them.
I bet people who aren't South African had no idea what half the insults were since its mostly Afrikaans
But in all realness this movie was grand and it was filmed in my home country of South Africa
Today district 9 movie complete 10 years since the release
Best si fi movie ever a masterpiece
This is the best movie made in the history of science fiction.. wiating for its sequel !
Please release District 10. I’m still sad and crying every single time I watched this movie. We need my man back to human
I come from the future to announce that there WILL BE a sequel
It touched on so many values as well as evils. I'm also amazed how hidden this movie has been perhaps because psychopathic human abuses were exposed.
