That VCR probably works now that you dropped it😂
Great video Pete, The other day i was heading to meet with someone that was selling me a bunch of records and i had about 45mins to kill so
i decided to stop by a few goodwills and i scored huge and found a brand in still in the sealed box vintage Marantz model 2270 receiver, Pete i know you know how much these are worth used in good working condition, The one i found is brand new never been opened. I opened it just to make sure it was the correct item inside and it sure was. I cannot believe i found one of these models new in box. Just like you said you never know what you will find when out sourcing and everything is sort of kit or miss but if you are consistently out sourcing or trying to find stuff you will score sometimes and sometimes you will not. Thanks for another great video Pete, Cheers
It's good to know I'm not the only one that buys stuff from thrift stores that doesn't work.
Enjoyed unplanned picking Pete. Greetings from Australia ✨✨🔆
Drops VCR..."unfortunately this one is dead". Lmao, love Pete.
That was funny!!!!
Lol that was Gold. Great start to the video
He was just making sure it actually was broken.
I sold a few pairs of keen sandals this summer. I agree they are a good seller. Thanks for sharing Pete! Great video
This was a fun video. We learn a lot from you, thank you Pete!
Wish I had a dollar for every tape A machine ate because of a dirty tape player. Thanks Pete, a lot of helpful information here !!. Cheers !!***.
Thanks for the tip, I have an old VCR that records to all formats as I used to do PAL to NTSC (and vice versa) video conversions in the UK over a decade ago, will now put it on EBay.
Pete the Built-in VCR on the little CRT just needs new belts I have the Same TV on my desk. If you don't sell it I say keep it in the shop as a Shop TV for a Security Camera Monitor just an idea I had. Have a safe and happy holiday from the Detroit Area.
I think that is when I find some items too; when I didn't plan to stop and look. Good finds. I found some Metallica VHS tapes and that same combo TV unit. I'm going to watch the tapes and then sell. I bought for $8.
The TV with a VCR that is for a motorhome they usually are in the dashboard in the front of the older Chevy motorhomes
Good Content Pete...I use to buy those "Multi-System VCR's" Overseas from the Base Exchange while in the military. It shoud be Dual Voltage too...yeah they were expensive then also...too bad it didn't work...
Another informative show, Thanks!!
those tv's are great for old game consoles
A little trick you can boil the belts in water for 10mins and it will work again
I was just at that same Goodwill yesterday! I always find good things there.
You’ve got so much random valuable knowledge on items man. True vet. Very insightful to watch 👍
1:04 300 to 400 Dollars?! I bought one a few years ago with both NTSC and PAL brand new for 15 euro. It's an LG but it works very well.
Yeah I know right... most of the stuff this guy sells to people he rips them off massively! I wouldn’t buy none of that stuff for those prices, not when you go online ( Ebay, Amazon etc ) and buy it all brand new for literally a tenner or less. 🤣👌
You can even buy genuine gold cheaper than jewellers. I buy my jewellery from Hatton Gardens ( London ) though because I know one hundred percent it’s real, i do it for peace of mind basically because you just don’t know nowadays what you are getting when you purchase online! I’ve spoken to some people who have purchased from Peter and they told me the items aren’t what there described to be apparently and also the conditions of the item are really poor! They were shocked when they received it because in the description it was described to be in a very good condition and working but it wasn’t at all... snm smh
That did seem very excessive, but I think NTSC units that supported PAL were less common than PAL units that supported NTSC. Likewise for CRT TVs.
Depends on where you live on the planet. In the USA players that can play both PAL and NTSC are rather rare. But down here where I live (Australia) they’re a little more common, I found a working VCR with the ability to Play and record both PAL and NTSC for only $25 Aussie dollars (not to boast) - it’s now my primary VCR. They do turn up every now and then but not all the time.
All the broken shit at Goodwill in my area always has "Tested" stickers on it.
@68Camaro RS/SS That doesn't make any sense. If I put "tested" on an ebay item I'm selling the buyers expect that to mean it works - and so does Ebay.
I was looking at a sewing machine once in Goodwill. Had a tested sticker on it. Only after I tried to plug it in myself I discovered the power jack on the machine was missing and the cord just plugged into a blank hole. What exactly could they have tested? That taught me to never buy a damn thing from goodwill that I don't plug in and try out - despite the fact many don't have electrical outlets so you can do your own testing. Goodwill sucks.
I tested your mom.
@@saltyapostle44 I got really lucky the other week near Nashville and got a cd drive for my computer case for 10 dollars with no problems lol
If they no long making those, yes. Going to keep my eyes peeled
Just found a fully functioning Samsung SV-5000W Worldwide VCR at Goodwill, it plays any format of VHS. Average selling price on eBay: $300-$400. Price paid: $12.99.
Dude, I literally just got rid of two of those box TV’s with the built in VHS player. They were sitting in my garage for years😂
Pete if a VCR is cold before trying the tape it can cause the tape to wrap round the head, you can also try a head cleaning tape and see if it improves the picture
those small tv/vcr combos are awesome. I found a 9" Sansui /vcr in box with all accys. for $15 at salvation army. like you say....you never know.
Man on a mission with that cart
I think its just hungry, feed it a couple more tapes haha. Just kidding love your channel, your a hard worker and know your stuff
All I needed was a computer monitor. Everyone was sold out or wanted 25 bucks. Goodwill sold me a broken one for $15 they "tested". Eventually Teen Challenge sold me one for $3. Goodwill also had zero VHS tapes. Their DVD and record prices sere so bad as was the selection.
I buy the golf travel bags / cases every time I see one in good shape.
I used to fix VCRs in the day for movie rental stores. Im sure its nothing major, usually kids shoving toy or snacks in the slot. Just remove the case and look around. $5 is worth the risk. You can always sell it for parts.
I agree I cannot tell you how many half eaten pop tarts I found in the tape tray. Cheetos and Pringles were big too. The worst case I had was a melted ice cream sandwich. :)
when ur a baller like Pete u don't have time for that shit
I used to fix alot of those vcrs & TV'S they were always an easy fix, the more challenging ones were the beta's
I had three of those commodes from separate surgeries. They are in big demand on Craigslist here in the Bayarea. That one you set over the toilet. After hip surgery the hips have to be higher than the knees when sitting. Thus the chair over the toilet.
S B really? I thought they mostly like to hide in fabric furniture like couches and wood is safer to purchase.
Lol, thats an easy fix for the tv/vcr. There is a round plastic wheel under the tape tray mechanism..this wheel has electrical contacts on it and over time the electrical contact lose contact with the surface they are supposed to slide on so you have to pull off the plastic wheel, bend the contacts a bit and spray them with deoxit. I buy units that "dont work" like this for next to nothing and fix them in 5 minutes and make a good profit. Im surprised Pete doesnt know how to fix them.
sir head is need to be change if someone find it its only expensive part in vcr its look like wheel of steel which convert magnetic waves to be seen
No the rubber belts are loose he has to change them first one for the tape insert Mechanism second one is under the drive also the head and the rollers need to be cleaned
@@Vossie81 Dont know what kind of vcr you are looking at with rubber belts. lol
@@lomparti google it!
Best just sell it as is imo. I'd kill for one of those for my nintendo assuming all the inputs work
great tip on the Goodwill bar code pricing.
Well......you now own a good boat anchor😉..
Good vid Pete!!
Always got to take a chance on stuff.
On the TV, try to just clean the heads with a VHS cleaning tape. It might just be extremely filthy. I had that happen and a head cleaner took care of it quick and easy and best of all, CHEAPLY!!
In my area people can't give CRT TV's away especially if they are the bigger ones. You see them sitting by the side of the road quite often.
free component CRTs are worth alot. PS2/XBOX/Gamecube with component on them look amazing. Its only worth the cash if its a hd tube tv
I wish we had big thrift stores here in England
such great video quality!! what a bargain hahahahah!!
Hi Pete,
I saw the heads of the vcr seem a bit dirty because of the snow and white lines when playing the tape. Do you sell it with or without mentioning that in the condition of the listing?
At least the Goodwill stores in your area have cleaned up stuff. The stores here in my area of California are dusty and not cleaned from the day they got them. Furniture, always total garbage here, stained, falling apart, you name it.
actually, the problem with the Sony may be the voltage... if made to work in Europe, American voltage would not make it work. Also, in any VCR, there is a part that floats on one screw and a spring. If that gets out of place, the machine will not work. I think for 5 bucks, you should have bought it and see if it can be made to work. There's enough margin to make it worth the trouble.
Wow your Goodwill is huge! I've never seen one that big. My Goodwill sucks. I rather go to Salvation Army.
That´s a long time since I saw Coyote ugly, great movie
Damn Pete, your goodwill stores are super stores compared to ours. Ours are junk with nothing really in them.
Crazy I just found that same sony vcr 2 days ago. The one I found was also broken and wouldnt even power on :(
I worked a a thrift shop we got flatscreen tvs xbox 360's wii's we also got alot of movies
hey pete did you try the combo without the vcr plugged in ? i now some units wont play from the built in vcr if they had an external vcr plugged in at same time
Pete: FYI on the commodes and walkers Medicare pays for those on about 85% of all elderly patients.
What you're seeing is the TV refresh rate on the screen. It's faster than you can see but I imagine the frame rate of the camera can pick that up.
Wow. The goodwills in my area are absolute junk. There's hardly ever any furniture, there's hardly anything on the shelves, but there's plenty of clothes. Same thing with most of our garage sales in my area. It's about 80% clothes.
Your goodwill is much nicer then mine.
I heard that back east going barcode, wonder in the Northwest will do it. And your prices are cheaper back there. You might want to check their dumpster, they do toss out stuff. Our stores here will take returns, so if you get home doesn't work you can return they give you a credit good for 14 days.
Combo units usually do well for me
Small soup kitchens that fund themselves by selling merchandise most are not listed as a consignment shop are gold mines. Visit 2 locally 5 days a week.
ems-amish could you elaborate what this means?
I go to one off locally run consignment shops they do not come up under any type of a Google search. they usually give away food in the afternoon but also have a small consignment shop to sell stuff to make money they are not frequented by resellers so they don’t get picked over much. Also their prices are low much lower than Goodwill because most people that are shopping there are also receiving free food and do not have a lot of money. Last week I got a Stave puzzle for $0.25 Retail is $600 and I sold it for 250 on eBay
My grandpa gave me that same one and after a few years that happened to it too
Should keep a VCR tape in the vehicle for thrift testing. Maybe also a cassette tape.
man ive scrapped a brand new wheelchair cause i cld not st9re no i tk bk gave it to scrap yrd to donate..but yea uda paid me anything n made a ton cause u got shop..n eBay...u do exactly how i do..like yur vids..yea crazy i was gonna say i got had same lil tv was expensive n its day crazzy if it waa mine n travelled to there..dam 9inch id slap myself if u got 75 4 that tv vcr...no way i got burned n my day

In Normal Life ???
Donation Rule #101 Donate items that WORK
Shhhiiiiit, be happy your Goodwill has THAT MANY ELECTRONICS. Every single on of mine within a 20 mile radius has nothing but a few, small and old crt tvs and thats it.
Wow that TV goes for that much? I had one as a kid, but I don't remember if it was color or black and white.
We found a lot of TVs at are thrift store and they all work
Should have sold for parts... The EURO VCR
You live very near me what!!?? Thats crazy
i love how you saying extreamly overpriced :D and then you pleace stuff twice the price :) So Polish :P
I would have bought thst vcr for 5 bux, even if u sold it for parts, but most likeley was just a belt or something simple, ive bought so many " non working vcrs" and simple belt replacement or sometimes even just a good cleaning put some oil on the moving parts good as new
0:19 'DA Pro 4 Head'
guess my gf has a new nickname
Anthony Sengsouvanh 😂😂😂
I found a movie camera at a thrift store and it worked great
Pete is the best there is!
People we're paying to recycle all that stuff some years back and look at that now it's worth money.
where you get 75 plus bucks for a 9 inch tube tv with VHS, man i want to believe it, i just have a hard time, and thats US dollars, up here in canada that would be 100 plus, I just don't see it, but maybe im out of touch, i mean i collect records and love records but VHS nope nope!! haha
Popular to play vintage video game consoles
Hey Pete I am sure you checked but maybe you could sell that unit as parts only?
Did the 12v for car work than maybe worth fixing . I think just my guess I agree no one buys at those prices they are given away a lot .
Hi, Cool nice Video, i Follow you
$100 for that old ass tv LMAO 😂
Did you ever sell the TV vcr combo and the cassette player?
I've been to 10 different goodwills in my state, and not a single 1 has even close to that much non-clothing stuff in it. lucky.
Wow that's still a lot of money for a CTR TV, because a lot of people just throw them away.
I live in IL, he ain't gonna get 40 or 50 when the tape don't work. Hell, I bought I DVD one at Aldi 10 years ago for a little over 100.
I watch your show and I buy the stuff you buy but Im not tech savvy to get it working like u 😭
Kenwood realy good the speakers are to
Pete, where's your Bears hat? Required wearing now that they're in first place :)
One year later and the Bears are an embarrassment. Good he avoided the hat!
Pete the VCR sells for $100 just for parts not working I have one a little better than that tape was stuck got to take unstuck cleaned it and it started working but was choppy still was able to sell it for $100
Who buys these and why?
Pete U said U Like it ! ! 2:20 But
Do U Love it 🤔
Respect ✊
Pal/NTSC this was very pricy even back in the day. I remember we had two vcrs for this reason
Been oding on your interesting videos since you were recommended by another reseller...Resale Rabbit
I cant believe that this stuff still sells, how can I get ahold of you I have stuff you would like to buy
And you didn’t buy it for parts only?
I found 50 bucks in a shoe at Goodwill once... shoe money people forget about...
Rob Norris lucky 🍀
you can get 75-100$ for a 9” vcr tv? *if the vcr worked** or 40-50$ for a broken 9” vcr tv?
Hey Pete,
use long cotton swab with a dab of rubbing alcohol clean up the head and the wheel and try the combo vcr again and while you have it out it will clean up the sticker goo if you don't want to use your olive oil trick/tip
Yes- try cleaning the heads. If the person who owned it played a lot of rental tapes, it's more than likely very dirty- that's why it eats tapes. Try spraying the inside with a can compressed air then going in with a q-tip/alcohol.
Yeah, if the VCR part of a combo unit isn't working properly I'll take a gamble and buy it anyway especially at yard sales. I can usually offer $2 and they'll take it. I've done it at thrifts too - the local ones have the combos right next to the TVs and cords and there are outlets in the electronics section, so I'll just talk to an employee and show them the VCR portion doesn't work and ask for a discount - a lot of times they'll give it to me for free since they'll have to take it off the floor anyway, or if it's an expensive unit I'll pay $2-3. I can open up a combo and clean the VCR heads and get them to work 80-90% of the time. Sometimes I can get ones where the door of either portion doesn't open or is loose for free or a couple bucks, and I can easily fix those. I only buy units worth good money when working, so if something is wrong that I can't fix, I'll scavenge the parts that do work or are very clean (like face plate, doors, the springs for the doors, the DVD side of the unit if the VCR is beyond repair. After some practice I started to get really fast, so my $/hr repairing these things or scavenging parts from them went up. Recently I've been shying away unless I see a unit that goes for a lot of money, is cheap, and already has the remote (or I have one) because I hate shipping them. Now I only pick up VCRs or combos if they're rare, the DVD portion is a recorder, it has HDMI output, or it's in original box with everything it came with. There's better ROI and $/hr out there, although I'll start picking them up if I'm having bad sales since I'm so used to testing, fixing, and swapping out parts for them.
@@shkim0123 Where do you sell these units?
*Keep q-tips away from the video heads on the spinning drum* Cotton fibers can get caught on a fragile head chip and cause damage. Use a piece of white printer paper damp with denatured alcohol and gently rub the video heads. There are detailed UA-cam videos on this. You can use cotton swabs to clean the guides and stationary heads inside the VCR.
The problem with the VCR in his TV combo is likely due to stretched belt(s) or a failed idler tire. Replacing old rubber parts can be easy or hard, cheap or expensive. It all depends on the quality and value of the unit whether it is worth the trouble. TV/VCR combos are generally a pain in the ass to work on...
The Sony multi-standard PAL/NTSC/SECAM VCR seen in the beginning also likely had an issue with belts failing, possibly worth repairing as these units are not as common and tend to command high prices.
The guy that used to repair our vcrs years ago said the combo sounded good but was not practical. He said a TV was a dust magnet which was deadly to a vcr. My son's combo was expensive when new but was short lived.
forget the tv VCR combo. I've had one up for sale for months, no takers. no interest at all.
Door Stopper or Target?
Little TV's vhs player might just need to have a head cleaner put through it
I could use it for my intellivision
How’s your new home going mate from Stephen . uk Liverpool
