What would YOU have gotten? let me know in the comments below!! *PS THRIFT SHOP PLAYLIST HERE!:* ua-cam.com/video/IZmF-OnxkT4/v-deo.html
1:48 There was a plug & play video mahjong game for 2750yen in this display case which I would have bought (the keyboard thing right under where your finger is pointing).
I'm a bit of a figure collector...so I would probably be digging for the rarer and more coveted figures to be honest! There's rare finds and deals that I'd never be able to find outside of Japan!
What was the name of that harddrive thing you saw, sounds interesting :) Thanks.
I'd love to know what you bought after a good rumage in junk paradise 😂
Hey Norm, I think there's a scammer using your profile pic. Just told me I won a prize and is asking me to send a message.
The amount of second hand stores in Japan makes me so jealous. So many treasures and items saved from dumps!! Thank you for exploring them!
Saw a Japanology episode where they visited a second hand furniture store. Lots of cool pieces I'd love to explore.
@@W4ABN yo got a link, would want to watch it
It's amazing here. The Book Offs are insane, I have found so many cool things since I got here
It's crazy because thrift stores in Canada sell games for triple the price 😭
Agreed I live vicariously though norm
I just can't get over how organized and well kept everything is. I'd be lost in there for a day on the toy floor alone - it's really cool to see the "junk" floor and travel down memory lane there too!
The amount of older games you get in japanese thrift stores never fails to amaze me! In australia we barely get any thrift stores that take games let alone keep old ones!
This is something that I want to go do so freaking badly in japan. I feel like you get a look at what normal everyday Japanese people like/ do ect. I know that the hobby off ones are more mainstream and they keep the good stuff more or less but I'd also like to go to the smaller second-hand stores in Japan. I know it's tacky but I'm in love with these videos.
If I went to a shop like this, I'd never leave. Really cool to see how much love you're giving to places like this! Also, those survival games sound fun 👀
I think hard off is one of my favorite places to go in Japan! Just the quality of the secondhand items is insane, and for someone who loves to collect unique things it's paradise.
One of my bucket lists, when I get to Japan, is to just explore a crap ton of thrift stores. Really appreciate taking us around all the time.
I love how they re-package all of the things so neatly in foil. Looks as good as new, and it protects the things well from further damage.
We appreciate all your hard work and dedication on this channel. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do!
I've worked in a second hand store for a short time in the UK and I wish that we had anything like the thrift stores in Japan. Here in the UK you can sometimes find something cool but I usually find that items can be overpriced (at least here in London). I'd love to go to Japan just for the thrift stores let alone sightseeing! Theres just so much variety!
Its so annoying how everything has ebay prices now regardless of quality, and dont get me started on cex man
@@Lucystanford CEX is exactly what the games floor ion this video reminded me of
The japanese thrift stores are a lot of levels ahead! Usually they're very honest with the prices, not overcharging.
Great video! The Nintendo 64 section and the portable DVD player made me very nostalgic.
Thrift shopping is always an adventure you find so many things sometimes you find stories locked away in the items you find and it's always interesting, seeing how well japan keeps there items makes me envious when compared to Australian Thrift stores
Yoshiko Sai's album "Mangekyou" has one of the most mesmerizing covers ever, and it's an amazing album too.
Her other albums are great too (both artwork and music).
Also Masayoshi Takanaka's "All Of Me" - the coolness personified.
OMG, it's the first thrift store I got myself in to on my first ever trip to Japan!
Thank you for showing us around the store! Hoping to be there again in the near future
For me it was Mandarake since there was one right downstairs of the school I studied Japanese at. These places are true treasure troves for nerds! 🤩 I spent some much money there! 😅
It's still amazing to me how well organised these shops are, when similar shops in places I've lived never seem to be half as well put together. I guess you need it when you have so much stuff, even knowing where things are would leave you needing a lot of time to go through them to find what you want/need.
I absolutely love these thrift store videos. every frame of the video is a gem. I find myself pausing and rewatching and looking all over. Thanks for the fun video
I'm absolutely fascinated by these stores and the amount of work and organizational talent it must take to make them look this presentable.
got to love another thrift store video. What I love to do with these videos is to focus on what the camera isn't focusing on, so all the items on the side of the frame. It makes me feel like I am actually there, and being overwhelmed, and it is awesome. I am always impressed at how clean those stores are, unlike our Canadian versions. I seriously could do a lot of damage to my suitcases if I went to that place.
Been going through all your videos and this was the first one I saw when it came out! Love to follow you on your adventures and can't wait for more videos, especially like these
I always love watching these thrift shop videos. It's amazing to see the huge range of things that can be found in these goldmines.
Whenever I go to Japan I'm always in the thrift stores. You can find so many gems with the most ridiculous prices (fair and cheap). I've watched most of your thrifting videos and so many locations I haven't been to yet. I've been marking them on my go to list when I go next month.
seeing you walk through these stores really makes me excited to eventually go to japan and just explore every isle of these stores
I’m going straight to the whole playlist of thrift store videos lol also I wanna see how big the bag of stuff was 😂 I know for a fact I would of left with a whole suitcase full of items a suitcase with wheels! 🤣🤣 I’ll forever be in awe of how well the Japanese take care of everything it’s so appreciated and gives me so much hope for the world for so many reasons! ☺️
I'm looking forward so much to exploring thrift stores next year in Japan. I think outside of Japan they can be seen as just full of old 'stuff' but because of how Japanese people care for things they look like they are still full of life. Thanks for introducing me to these sorts of shops ^_^.
You always make these videos so fun and exciting, and your enthusiasm is very infectious! Thanks for sharing with us, and bringing us along on your adventures. 😁
I absolutely love when you do these videos!!! Going to spend half of my holiday looking for these treasure troves. You are the best 👌🏻
I could get lost in a place like this for hours. I love thrift shopping in the U.S. and doing so in Japan seems next level.
The fact that you can get a brand new in-box N64 for ~$50 is actually insane! I really hope to go into some of these stores at some point.
I love digging for treasure in these types of shops, and with the number of these types of shops in Japan, it's literally just a neverending adventure!
My favorite type of your videos! I personally love going to these random item stores here in the US, wish I could be there in Japan! Keep up the great content!
So neat and orderly! Not like what I'm used to seeing in second-hand stores!
I'm surprised by how well-packaged these 2nd-hand goods are!
Being a Transformers collector, i'm completely geeking out here! That Lego Optimus Prime!!
I am a huge Transformers collector too with my collection starting with ones from the 80's all the way to now. I actually just built the new Lego Optimus Prime a couple of weeks ago.
Yay another shopping video. I love seen retro Japanese games and toys, along with some of the tips you bring up. I'll take note about distoring my hard drive after that story of someone going around trying to recover stuff from wipe used ones.
Thrift stores are so fun to be in! This one I bet I could get lost in there for a good two or three hours. Thanks for sharing this! I love coming on these little shop trips.
The sheer amount of stuff in these shops is so overwhelming, I would definitely be spending a full day there. Being a musician, designer, game collector, and anime lover I would just have too much to look at and most likely be broke the second I stepped inside. Absolutely love these videos and the record collection in the studio, especially the Patlabor soundtrack!
Thanks for the tour! We love the thrift store videos. Nice treat every once in a while
Oh, a new Thrift Store Video! I love these, especially with how well kept japanese second-hand wares tend to be.
I totally agree!
I'm a fellow Canadian that's obsessed with Japan...lol. I recently discovered your channel and subscribed. I love your videos, as I'm an otaku retro nerd as well...lol. Canadian thrift stores are such garbage compared to Japanese ones...I'm so jealous. Both your suggestions for videos sound awesome. Thank you for the amazing content.
Thank you for making this video. I actually found it really enjoyable to go through the shop with you, I also hope it helps their business out a bit with tourism open again. I really miss the physical experience of going out to shops like that in the 90s, obviously the u.s has had a powerful shift towards commercialism and online shopping now, which is a bit depressing and removes the experience and fun of going in person and finding gems
Thanks for posting videos like this. I have visited many times, but it's always awesome to get better perspective into Japanese culture and lifestyle. It also helps make aware of things we normal people might overlook because of only big name stores!
I love seeing the Japanese Catan board game in this vid! I honestly paused and started going through to see what all they had there. Thank you for another lovely video Norm! Hope your recovery is going well.
Thank you for showing what Japan thrift shops have to offer! It seems so so interesting. I'll have to visit one of these when I make my first trip to Japan!
This is one of the reason why Japan is so fun. Can’t wait til I am there in March. Thanks for showing, will visit those stores. Coming from Canada too 😊
Video game thrifting was one of the most fun parts of my last trip to Japan. Just amazing prices and condition pretty much everywhere
Watching your Thrift Store videos are always exciting, The quality and quantity of Thrift stores in Japan is awesome, I absolutely love the experience of digging around for cool stuff and not always to purchase, even just to explore and discover old and unique things. so much fun
I love these. But we definitely need to start getting haul videos after to see what you picked up! Keep up the awesome vids!!
I always enjoy these videos Norm. I really gotta spend a day and see an awesome place like this myself.
Oh heck yes Norm! Ive got a long travel day today and you uploaded one of my favorite videos (more thrift stores!!)
I'm absolutely interested in the longer video even if it's up on the Explore channel; these thrift stores are my weakness ♥️
i absolutely love seeing this kind of content. I can't wait to get back and raid those stores for camera accessories!!!! Thanks Norm!
I love seeing thrift shop exploration videos by Tokyo Lens!
I love these thrift store videos. I have heard a little about the air soft scene in Japan, we definitely need a video.
i got here on day one for once!!! great video as always, giving me lots of ideas where to go when i visit japan next year
So much nostalgia! I could spend hours in a place like that.I hope you bought that Roshi!
Hi Norm!
Great video once again, I love the rhyming you did in the intro, despite the video's title not rhyming. Japanese Thrift stores are completely different to anything I've seen in other countries. There is so much niche and unique things that just make them so interesting to spend hours walking around, who knows what gems you might find!
Your enthusiasm is infectious. I love it!
Yes, to all the thrift stores. I love exploring pawn shops here in the U.S. and these stores just amaze me.
Added this place to my list. Lots of cool things to explore. Thanks for sharing.
Thrift stores in Japan have so much cool stuff! Also.. watching your thrift store videos giving me gift ideas 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
The items in here are so well preserved/refurbished it's astounding. These kind of videos make me want to spend an entire trip inside of these kinds of stores.
wow! thanks for sharing such places with us! so nice you guys have such cool places for treasure huntings! i am so curious of the LP section. I've been looking for old minyo records lately....
I love your videos!! I’m planning a trip to Japan and this kind of videos are really helpfull✌🏻
Ooo I love me some thrift store videos. I have one locally but I don't go there too often, but sometimes I find some old PC games and it's always fun to see what people have dropped off. But the ones in Japan seem to be on a whole different level. I love retro gaming and I'd absolutely love to find some Japan exclusive games. I've been importing some but it's gotta be such a blast to see it in the wild like this! Also I do indeed know what those are, Famicom disc drive games. The Nintendo logo on the bottom is also a copyright protection measure. So you'll see fake carts that will have holes in the bottom to try to match the Nintendo logo.
Pls do more of this content! Liking these kinds❤ also would like too see the day in a life that you mentioned
Awesome video as always ! Thrift stores in Japan have more variety than what we have here in the America. The Famicon floppy disk was quite interesting. I recalled that there's a reader that mounts on the Famicon if I recall. I would be taking my time with each floor just like you were doing.
Amazing how much treasure you can find in this mega thrift store. Love the Transformers. Seeing that G1 Prowl, that police car. Just wow. Excellent video. 👍
I love how broad yet specialized this shop is. I know all of the camera equipment probably sits at the top of your list but I really zeroed in on the records and the small cheap figurines. The figurines make great souvenirs for co-workers and friends since you can squeeze them into your luggage with no issue. I also spent some time researching record bars in Tokyo for a vinyl loving friend of mine recently. Also, Tokyo has some great thrift shops that are mainly geared towards clothing out towards Harajuku. We were able to find some really good deals.
Thanks for showing this store! I got all my shopping done for nephew and niece on floor 4 and 5 :)
Wow, always so cool to see these thrift store videos!!
Five stories of fun. Relaxed, fun content. Thanks!
Love these thrift store videos. Especially when you come across vintage TMNT merch!
I always find myself having intense fun watching the thrift store videos. As you walk through the isles, I see something you passed, and scream 'NO GO BACK''. The intensity is like watching my favorite sporting team in competition. Well done and fun. Looking forward to the next thrift store video.
What was it?
I can't wait to go to Japan in 2024 and explore all the wondrous shops and places that you've shown us over time. Thanks for being such a huge inspiration and not to mention a source of de-stress
Watching these thrift shops makes me think you’ll need to bring an extra bag with you… leave some room for all this stuff!
Goodluck brother 🙏🏻
This looks like such an amazing place to browse through, there is so much interesting stuff here. Especially that junk part, would be amazing to scrounge around for projects.
It’s so fun to see what you can find in thrift stores! The level of organization and the condition of the items is impressive too! Completely unlike any theist store I’ve ever been in 😂
I always love seeing your thrift shop videos would love to see more 💙so much fun
This was so visually stimulating, I'm pretty sure my dreams are going to be effected. I look forward to it. Thank you for sharing!
I love these stores! I took my brother to Japan before COVID and we spend several hours alone in a store just like this.
I love this thrift shop videos so much, my day just got better!
Loved this. Like the video where you rented the car and went around all the second hand places.
I freaking LOVE these Thrift shop vids so much
I LOVE these thrift store videos. I always have to send them to my sisters. I could definitely get lost in here for a few hours
not sure if ive ever said this, but your videos always feel oddly nostalgic. i think i just really enjoy YOU and your camera work and your ideas. its all just a great time so thank you for making the content you make its really nice. (and no its not nostalgic JUSt cuz its a thrift shop )
Absolutely would love to see more of these stores.
I would go nuts in a place like that. I'd be there from the time they opened until they closed and never come up for air. Everything is so cool, clean and well organized, What a lucky guy you are to have so many places like this around. Thank you so much for showing us around.
Yay more thrift store shopping!!! Gonna sit back and see what weird stuff i see in the background
omg so many things that I was eyeing while watching this video but mostly the sailormoon merch hahaha I wish you did a haul video of all the fun stuff that you found and your ideas about them!
Woah, thats a such amazing store, thanks for the review my guy
Oh my gosh! I was here 2 months ago during my trip to Japan! I went a couple times at night after dinner because there was just so much to look at!
All those retro toys and games consoles look fab. Will definitely need to have a look and see if I can bring one back for my sister and nephew next year.
This is amazing, thrift stores are some of my favorite places to go!!!!!!🤩
I already love thrift shopping, a 5 story one sounds like a dream!
9:10 - The game you picked up is one of the Jikkyo Powerful Pro Baseball games, the reason you probably find them in every store you go into for so cheap is the same as like... going to American thrift stores or pawn shops and seeing Madden or FIFA or NHL games from 10 years ago for like $5. They put them out every single year, update the rosters, maybe add a couple gameplay features, and then everyone buys that year's game and the previous year's game is obsolete. I have a couple of these Baseball games, they're pretty fun.
Love all these thrift store videos, I wish my country had something like these too. Also, I was wondering if you have thought about making a video about what you have bought in these thrift stores? Not sure how interesting they would be to most but I personally would love to see something like that :)
You take so much time and bring so much helpful knowledge to your videos, they are always such a fun and informative watch! Hope you were able to go back for the Pokeball controller :)
I love these massive Thrift Shops, so many hidden treasures!
Great video, if I ever get to travel to Japan, I'm gonna head to one of these Thrift shops right away!
Awesome video man, I got sooo excited when all the pokemon stuff came about and really want to go into thrift stores and hunt now haha
This was so cool to see I would love to look at every little thing and spend at least a hour to explore the store
Going into stores like this will be an afternoon treat for me. I may do so on my first day there while my family is resting due to the jet lag
