The Smittybilt compressor I bought sh*t the bed the first time I used it airing up 37" Humvee tires. To their credit, they shipped a NIB compressor under warranty. I'm going on 3 years using it, and it's going strong. Two "thumbs up", and a big toe!

I got the morrflate 5.6 cuz I wanted to use this system on 4×4 jeep and the entire fleet of vehicles at the house (motorcycles, motorhome, cars and pickup trucks) the largest pump says "Don't use on one tire you'll brake the pump prematurely "
I also am using the 4 tire kit with this pump.
This aired up the jeep with 33's from 15psi to 32psi with the 4 way hose kit in 7.5 minutes.
The pump didn't even get a chance to get hot to the touch.
It also aired the rv, 2 tires at a time to 75psi without issue.

Thanks for this. I'm only running 32s but during monsoon season I have to air down almost everyday to get out of my road heading to work. I want to get from 15 to 36psi as quickly as possible. I am currently using an 87P Viair, lol painfully slow. I was going to upgrade to a 400P but think I might end up going to the Smittybuilt instead.
Both are great. The Smittybilt is faster. Check out this from Desert Armor, you can fill all 4 tires at the same time too.

Good video! You convinced me to get the Smittybilt. How hard to put trigger type fill gauge on the Smittybilt hose I wonder?
People, the Smittybilt is NOT 5.6 CFM. It's a clone of the MV90, which was rated at 3.71 CFM (even that was optimistic). Further, that's open flow CFM, which is meaningless. The Smitty's actual flow at 30 - 40 psi is not much higher than the 400P. Perfect valid comparison. The Viair has superior built quality and heatsinking, and should last longer.
Thanks for the info. I just wanted to see how the two stacked up against eachother. Got a ton of hate for saying the Smittybilt is faster even when I’ve owned the 400p for years lol. Both are good, wouldn’t be surprised if the Smittybilt blew up. It’s Smittybilt.
Smittybilt 2781 is the best option

Thx that gives me an idea for my 33s to 42psi on my truck. The 50+ will help on my cattle trailer and other stuff too.

I've had this smittybulit for 6 months and then it died. I replaced it with the exact same unit and again made it 6 months and died. I'm only running 32s and dropping it down to 15 psi. I'm giving up and going with the viair 400P. I'd rather take a little bit more time, but at least I'll get my tires inflated.
Not surprised at all. With that tire size I'd definitely go Viair.
50 psi is pretty insane for a normal offroad rig. I know your truck can tow so 50 psi makes sense for loads but do you daily drive it at that high of PSI?
Rear is 28psi - Front has to be higher because the engine is so heavy. If I lower it, the front end feels really sloppy and the tire roll becomes more pronounced. 48psi cold is about the perfect number for wear and drivability.
You need the filter So it can work properly it won’t work without the filter that’s why it took so long that I had the same problem I want to filter brakes do you need another filter to make it work properly among other things

People just buy what every body else has. I did research before buying i been using the smitybuilt for 4 yesrs now. I did change the connecters. Going to put the pressure switch on.
Great video! However, Smittybilt is just a rebranded generic Chinese compressor. It's just the northern tool klutch/ oreilly auto parts powertorque brands. Save some cash and buy the powertorque from oreilly auto parts or just buy the more expensive ARB or viair and spend years wheeling without worrying about your compressor failing.
Would it speed up inflation time to slightly lift tire up with a jack?
Probably would ever so slightly, but wouldn't be worth the time at all
Next I compare my Kmart cigarette lighter compressor to Viair.
You should if it is cheaper and fills up your tires faster

I only put 35 psi on my 285 LT
Do yourself a favour and get a better one. This is super slow even for my Chinese dual cylinder (Roadpower) which is actually even faster and more powerful than ARB. It comes in alot of brands but all same shape and specs. 300 LPM. Same tire spec of yours takes 1min 30 sec from 10 to 50 psi

C'mon man, pretty unfair comparison. You're comparing a compressor with double the CFM, against something that VIAIR doesn't even market towards 37's. The handle being "actual metal" isn't exactly much of a bonus, considering the temps these things can get to. Overall, pretty dishonest review.

@@MrCdrant Of course! I just want to make sure you know that the cheaper air compressor, with more CFM, will outshine the more expensive air compressor, with less CFM, no matter the tire size. The Viair has been nothing but great!
I'll take note and continue to improve on videos. Reviews like this is not something I really want to do, but they just help put consistent videos out while I'm in school full-time and working. Thanks for the feedback!

@@socalexpeditions The thing is a beast! I have a Viair and had the same problem with the air filter breaking off, but I managed to glue it back together and it doesn't seem to affect it. I went to use it recently and when I switched it on the gauge went right into the red, indicating maximum pressure was reached, so I was trying to find a video referencing this problem.
How can you compare 2.3 vs 5 CFM pump???? Definitely a waste of time

When the more expensive compressor is slower than the lower priced Smittybilt, it seems like a fair comparison.
The compressors could be grouped by speed or price, this comparison seems like a balance between the two.
