Under Jake, US has lost allies in OPEC, EU is in shambles economically and defence readiness, ASEAN is losing patience with US. The world got a lot more dangerous with US defence department's half measures - dripfeeding Ukraine supplies, lack of fortitude to send troops to Middle East against Houthis.

@@jimbopeebles8210 Taiwan is a very singular case. The US, the People's Republic of China, and the Taiwanese authorities all recognize Taiwan and the mainland as being a part of China.
The previous president of the Philippines had good relations with China and was moving closer to them. The current president has gone in a very different direction.
They have some ongoing disputes over fishing rights as far as I know.
I know by fact that if the National Security Advisor of the United States talks like that, the U.S has no hope in the future.

About US speculation on Chinese economy, if advocating gloom and doom of Chinese economy pacifies those lazy folks, then just continue their dream and hope of China collapsing since at least 50 years ago. Keep dreaming and don’t ever open your eyes, otherwise you will be disappointed and scared to death.

With so many misunderstandings how we can bring the vital US-China relationships back to track. We need a thoughtful, rational and calm leader to keep the world safe. What was it that Li KeQiang said that got him killed? That 600 Million live on less than USD$140 a month? The problem with CCP talking points (and the obligatory WuMao sub-comments) on a CFR channel is that almost anybody really interested in listening and then fact-checking is earning enough to make comments for free in the form of a question or request for more information, or is providing more data to the discussion rather than an ideological argument they don't really believe in for money nobody can live on. The cool thing is that you have access beyond the firewall and can actually hear the arguments and discussion and learn something.
We have asset price inflation propping up the US GDP. That's why all the homes are priced 30-50% more than back in 2020. Everything costs like 20% more too. Basically 4% increase in gdp minus 20% inflation means US economy actually contracted 16%.
I noticed that Mr. Sullivan's shoes are pretty old. Did he wear the same shoes for the meeting with Chinese FM?
It's high time for general public in USA to re-learn China, although it's politicians and vocal elites who need the most. China is not a Soviet style communist country, nor an evil empire that you need feel threatened. Unlike Europeans, folks in USA didn't have similar experience of equal and peaceful exchanges with Chinese civilization, which benefited European civilization in many ways, such as silk making, porcelain making, paper and printing technologies, not to mention gun power and compass. China fought hard against Japanese invasion, lost 30m lives (20m according to US Congress Library) in total, only got back Taiwan and several small islands in South China Sea. China repatriated the last batch of 400,000 Japanese army and settlers,.mostly peaceful without any large scale of revenge and killing, nor holding them to laber in mines and fields. Chinese villages even raised thousands of Japanese orphans, and returned them to Japan as growups in 80s. When comparing China with any other large nation,, people would see immediately China as a nation and as people, are peaceful with great humanity and splendid civilization and history.
Chinese settlers explored South East Asia regions centuries before Dutch, Portugal and Spain, didn't kill and colonize these places like Europeans, even as General Zhenghe' grand amarda passed nearby multiple times in Ming period, but blend in well with local tribe people. One example is Sri Lanka's Galle Trilingual Inscription stone tablet in 1409, erected by General Zhenghe. Another example is modern day Indonesia. After its independence from Dutch, its army and political elites instigated ethnic cleanings and genocides against Chinese settlers multiple times. Now, China help Indonesia with fund and build its HSR through a joint venture, first in South East Asia, which transported millions of passengers in a few short months, benefitting local economy in many ways.

It’s nice to hear level headed dialogue about this relationship. So much of the discourse is littered with hyperbole, rhetoric and disinformation in online spaces.
It is clear that AI and other technologies have been levered to distort the reality of a mostly cooperative yet sometimes contentious competition
There are three engines in China economy. Real Estate, exports and consumer expenses. I just came back from China and saw busy economic activities in China anywhere. Pretty normal, maybe only the real estate is slowing down. But after more than 20 years of booming in construction, it is pretty normal to slow down a little and it is heather to be this way. Infrastructures in China are much better than those in the US. Opposite compering with the US, China is experiencing some degree of deflation instead of high inflation in the US.
The real estate slow down is government enforced. The government wants the market dead. Why? Because it understands that growth is unsustainable with big Chinese cities already having some of the world's most expensive housing. To understand this people need to see what China is doing elsewhere. From chips, to robotics, to the booming private rocket industry, and the dropping of history and geography from Chinese university entrance exam, the single most important indicator for Chinese education, that going forward Chinese students will get their placements in university with only their Chinese, English, Math, Chemistry and Physics score. China has decided to go full in with tech and innovation. Freeing up money from the housing market was just one tactical move.

It’s immensely impressive to see the clarity of the speaker’s mindset and accompanied policy options. An enormous successful story career wise. One brutal reality of an uneven bilateral relationship is that the stronger side got it’s wanted most of the time, but the balance is undeniably shifting.

The politicians might want to learn how American architects did so many skyscrapers in China even without local architectural registration, and how Builk made billions dollars of profits in China a year without paying a single dollar of tax by registering their entity in Virgin island.

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, looks to me, has a great balance of reasoning and feeling in an optimal way about what He is talking about and this increases his ability to persuade me as a great personality that measures objectively and evaluated all components of the subject He is analyzing.
Sullivan's talk isn't friendly, more hostile than sincere.

I’ve listened to Jake Sullivan’s talk in this video as well at the WEF. Now, you have to combine that with his background and effectiveness.
1st- he was a very effective speaker at the WEF even if it was causing jaws drop because he was speaking at a position of power. By now, the other countries would have thought we would be on decline.
2nd-very diplomatic in speech but tough in body language. Evidence by his stance against this “New Order” stuff and the desire for them to prop up China.
3rd- he understands that the effort has always been to undermine the US with an unfavorable model in a multilateral world-which assumes the middle class are incapable of things-however when you dont employ and engage them then you are only going to be accustomed to the inflexibility of the old world order that is being rebranded as something new
4-he understands what America’s path is going to be decisive and we are definitely flexible and already capable.

there are very strong fundamentals that are being employed and that is important for America to understand and it has to do with the new generation of resistance all across the world that wont be stopped by an old world order as old as 100 years

The problem actually lies in the way the United States deals with the world. It is contradictory to want to maintain its own interests, strengthen ally control, and grasp the world order.
Maintaining its own interests is essentially isolationism, America first.
If it treat allies fairly, then it should not fear Europe's independence and autonomy. In the 90s, it should have agreed to Russia joining NATO, allowing Europe to be independent.
As for the world, the United States' approach is to profit on any opportunity.

Toppling democratic governments for interest has also been done. This contradicts the values it preaches.
Therefore, for China, becoming an ally of the United States is no different from becoming a puppet state, as the U.S. does not even allow Europe to be autonomous.

The process of freedom and democratization should be something that can be done after becoming one pole in a multipolar world, otherwise, it is just opening the door to invite thieves.
When country been democratized before it can control its environment. On luckiest chance, it could experience the Southeast Asian financial crisis; if unlucky, it cloud experience the Arabic color revolutions.
NATO was created in 1949 primarily as a response to the security challenges posed by the Soviet Union's growing influence and military presence in Central and Eastern Europe after World War II. The alliance was formed against the backdrop of the emerging Cold War, which saw the world divided into two major ideological and political blocs: one led by the United States and its Western allies, and the other by the Soviet Union and its satellite states in the Eastern Bloc.
NATO was created to counter the Soviet Union, so why would we allow Russia to join?
China is holding it's own. At the end of WW2 they got UN veto powers. Now they have dramatic growth and developing international conglomerates. Always a force to wrestle with and learn from.

The majority of civilians aren't benefiting from the squeeze of other nations, because we feel what you guys feel. I think human being has a common sense of feeling. Besides some cold blood psycopath, most of us don't like disorder, would be sad after knowing a tragic. We all want to be safe, and love the freedom. But my safety and freedom couldn't been established on the cost of yours. Vice versa. Therefore, profiting on squeeze other countries is immoral.
The million dollars question is why there are needs for a country in control? Is the US hegemony the main force of keeping peace? I think the cold war proves that the nuclear deterrence is the main force.
Maybe corporate America is squeezing not only other countries but also common Americans. Don't you think during the cold war, ordinary americans get better pay, higher life standard? Because there are competitions between US and USSR. That's how US gets internet and apollo. I think our countries competing on AI and aerospace is a good thing. You can do sanctions, trade war, or whatever you want. We will keep developing.
But stop maddling our internal affairs and preaching the world about democracy. If American democracy really work, we won't have to see US wasting its hegemony on war of terror. We want to figure out the achievement of democracy on our own ways.

So I do understand China's frustrations, but it seems as though all disdain from China is aimed towards ALL Americans. And all Americans are not the problem. China's growth has been remarkable, starting from a very low base. Adding roads where there were no roads, building factories where there were no factories, building housing where there was no housing created amazing economic growth. Either a command economy or a free market economy would have produced those results under those circumstances. The problem is that the command economy had no market signals to reveal when marginal investment in roads, factories, and housing became non-productive. The marginal return on infrastructure investment in China has been negative for nearly a decade. The debt-to-GDP ratio is China is 3X worse than the US and will inevitably crash. Thanks to the one child policy, China has too few working age adults to fuel domestic consumption and too few working age adults to compete with other labor-rich countries like India to maintain their export-led business model. Unfortunately, the people of China will have to throw off the yoke of the CCP and find a new way to govern themselves before they will ever meet their potential.
No, China has been much worse than 3 years ago, and will be continuing its downward path in the future 3 years. Just Look at its dismal birth rate, collapsing real estate, ever increasing unemployment, etc. 2024 will be the best year in next 10. You can bet on it!

The country is in bad shape since it started the trade war with China, don’t believe me, just talk to an average American in the street.
